Being rooms above a pub, this is not really a hotel and as such, if you are there out of pub opening times, no staff are present. As such, we were unable to rectify the issues below.
Room 1 (a double) was appointed to a fair standard with a modern bathroom suite. Sadly it was impossible to sit on the WC unless your legs were hooked over the bath (no knee space), the water pressure only provided a minimum trickle and no towels or soap were provided.
Room 2 (a single) was in dire need of renovation, had sticky-back plastic repairs to cracked/broken glazing, one plug socket was damaged, a light didn't work and the TV didn't work properly. Although having a dated shower room, the plumbing all worked and towels and soap were provided. No obscured glazing in the shower room so hope I didn't scare anyone!
The location (although adjacent to the train line) was great, only a couple of minute's walk to our office (ideal for the day after our Christmas Do!). After booking a twin room on arrival we were advised this was unavailable and were offered two rooms at no extra cost.
Due to our plans, we had to check-in earlier than the normal opening times. We turned up at 1pm and found all the entrances locked up. After walking round to the rear of the building and speaking to a member of staff carrying a keg, we were able to check in. This did seem purely by chance, even though this was specifically mentioned at the time of booking.
