Location, excellent food quality, well furnished room, pleasant staff, very comfortable lounges, good parking, nice gardens. Bedroom was generally excellent, apart from being far too hot to sleep in comfort. The approach road to the hotel had quite a number of potholes, so great care had to be taken to avoid them.

A lovely house/lodge but with a poorly kept garden and approach, with great provenance being a geologist. What didn't we like about our stay.....room was from the 1960/70's with a basin in the room and an old basin at that, awful pine furniture, a very old and tired and rather small room for the requested £160 per night! The cooked breakfast was thrown together, literally no sense of ' lets make it look good! All in all a place that relies on it's location and spa. Because of this charges far too much. A blight on British tourism, expensive, poor quality and complacent. Will certainly not go back.

Nice building, quite comfortable. Room decor was bland and uninspired. Food was average and breakfast particularly a let down. Watery eggs and burnt toast. Overall I expected more for the price.

Ideal location. Good Food. Excellent Service from staff. Child friendly venue. Room too small. Shower/toilet room too small. Wash hand basin outside in the bedroom not in shower/toilet area.

The building and grounds are really beautiful - the restaurant room (where breakfast is served) is beautiful and has a lovely view; it's surrounded by lovely grounds which are evidently well tended. The staff are friendly and helpful. The Hotel is close by to main roads, making travlling to Beaulieu, Lyndhurst, Lymington etc really easy. There are also a number of fun local pubs nearby - we enjoyed the Green Dragon! Whilst it was a lovely place - however I felt the room we had was very small for the price (£145 per night for a double). It had space for a bed, a little table, and a squished in bathroom. Also, the hotel is pretty loud when there's a wedding on, so it's a good idea to check if there is one before you go (I'm guessing most weekends during summer). Whilst it's not massively important, the pictures of the rooms on the website are pretty flattering - ours (whilst very clean and well looked after) was very outdated in its decor and felt a little bit tired as a result.

The service of the Staff - friendly, cheerful and efficient. The hotel is currently undergoing renovation and expansion which, to some extent, restricted the services available. For example, there was no separate bar; the bar is in the dining room whilst the renovations are taking place.

The room (12) was strange - it had a tiny bathroom without a sink (which was in the room) and the floor creaked a lot! There is a great deal of building work taking place.

Staff were lovely. Food was excellent. Pool was warm. Bjilding work taking place, not advised at time of booking. Room 12 very small, minimal hanging space, shower and toilet so small it was hard todry self in there. Basin in bedroom. Room cleaning poor, champagne bucket not removed and debris under dressing table still there on last day. No bar other than makeshift one in conservatory, lacks atmosphere. Outside in poor condition, garden wall awaiting repair. Parking area very muddy due to construction vehicle movements.

“Have known of hotel for years and the exterior has sometimes looked a little tired. I was pleasantly surprised by the internal decor etc. The staff were very helpful. Our rooms were excellent - far better than in much more expensive hotels in the area.Breakfast, again, was excellent. The swimming pool was certainly large enough for family to enjoy. Situated in the lovely New Forest with plenty to do in the surrounding areas. Would definitely stay there again and liked the reduced price I paid.” Lynn, Nash |
