The friendliness, helpfulness and the location of this lovely country pub/hotel.
Our room was the twin and felt it was quite dark, with not much light. Also would like to add that as travelling with an elderly mother with mobility problems and wheelchair, I found it difficult manoeuvring around the restaurant/pub. Also, I wish more places would be more disabled aware- walk in showers, ramps, flooring etc.
The food was good
Accepting it is an old fashioned property, there is no reason why all the fittings and equipment needs to be so old. No chair or desk in room, tv old, lighting poor, window catch broken, plumbing not great, and on and on!
Very welcoming and comfortable, very pleasant and helpful staff
Receptionist made us feel very welcome
The hotel The room The staff The breakfast
Food eg evening meals wasn't very good and rather expensive The tv in the room wasn't working properly The door to our room wasn't secure and needed fixing All these matters was told to the staff on duty
The location and staff were fine. Bar fine except for the huge TV stuck on Sky News. Not what one would expect in a country hotel.
The restaurant is dark and dull and needs a re-vamp. The bed was lumpy and in need of a new mattress. The patio furniture needs replacing. In fact the whole place needs a work-over.
Location excellent for Longleat as there is a side road out of the park directly to the hotel. Rooms adequate, very clean F
nice welcome food good
annexe room very small a female member of staff to pushy
it was lovely , nice food , the outside rooms were lovely and having two made it so easy to see the other people, It was so close to longleat as well , we would def stay there again
Room was great beautiful, great bath very comfortable bed would defiantly go again, food was amazing for what I thought was a little pub.
Staff constant rushing around all the time didn't see to be enough around. But did get everything on time.
Has the great combination of being a pub, restaurant and hotel outside a lovely quiet tiny village. Excellent breakfasts. Ideally located for nearby attractions.
should be able to sit at any table for breakfast - waited ages before anyone seated us at an allotted table. evening meal in stylish restaurant with stylish prices yet mayonaise served in 'sachets' - as served in a burger bar. thin sliced pre-packed bread for breakfast - proper loaves would be better. no lighting/candles on tables in patio area - so dark and uninviting for diners or smokers in hot weather. there are several annex rooms stuck out in the car park - look like caravans - make sure you stay in the main building
Nice location but out of the way of amenities. Close to longleat which was a plus point. Bedrooms are nicely decorated and staff are very friendly.
Felt rooms could have been cleaner. Felt the food menu was overrated, ordered from the bar menu and was like normal pub food. Breakfasts were nice but cooked breakfasts were quite small only one of each item.
Beautiful location, would defiantly stay again. Staff very helpful and the food was great. We stayed in the little lodges outside which were lovely and cosy.
The mattress was slightly uncomfortable but I'm use to an orthopedic mattress so that could be why.
Excellent location, really comfortable beds, quiet
Stayed several times and each time had to wait a while to be seen to, for checking in and checking out.
The location, the atmosphere, the facilities, the food and the staff
We had no dislikes
Relatively poor service at dinner Pretentious food Few veg
Near to Longleat
Complimentary upgrade given to accommodate cot for baby Great meal for dinner Large Bed Lovely setting / atmosphere Tasty breakfast, happily provided an additional egg when they'd served the wrong type (which was unsuitable to share with baby)
Service at breakfast was quite poor - our table was missing butter / sugar and we weren't offered toast / hot drinks or sauces with cooked food. Service was slow when we then requested these. Milk / juice and pastries hadn't been replenished and we weren't offered direct service instead.
The dust in the room The food The service Overall, I'd never recommend this place, nor stay there again
Very comfortable bed Lovely fluffy pillows Towels were thick and fluffy and enough of both sizes for my husband and I We had a nightcap before turning in for the night and staff were very friendly and helpful Really couldn't fault anything
room a little small
The staff were superb from start to finish. Couldn't have been more helpful. Food fabulous, hotel excellent. Great weekend all round.
The staff were really friendly and helpful. It was quiet and our room had lovely views over the Longleat estate. The bathroom was well appointed.
The lighting in the room was poor- only 2 small lights.Luckily we'd taken torches with us so we could at least read in bed. For the price, the room wasn't good value. There were only 2 regular tea bags and no biscuits. The bed was a bit hard but that's a matter of choice.
The close proximity to Longleat. The comfort and cleanliness of the room. Lovely location. Friendly staff. Evening meal - food very plentiful and enjoyable - attentive staff.
No safety grab rail on bath. Lighting in bedroom not sufficient to be able to read easily. Wrong remote for TV - unable to change channel. Breakfast on first morning 8am - brilliant. Second morning 9am - croissants had run out and service was very slow.
Leona and Ceara were really helpful when I emailed with a request and also asked to have a room with the roll too bath. Dinner was lovely and our room was stumning. The hotel was really quirky and we would definitely stay again.
The breakfast was cold albeit tasty. Also the shower attachment in the roll top bath was really weak And just trickled out when was annoying when trying to shower. These aside it was really good.
