Easy access from motorway; very welcoming staff; quiet -even though wedding in progress, as we were located at the other end of the hotel; very comfortable bed and nice bedroom; really excellent meal and service in the evening; good breakfast in the conservatory with nice views. Overall a very pleasant overnight stay.
The food in the restaurant was excellent, but....(see over)
The food portions were very small!!
Rooms and corridor looked very tired.
It was convenient for my purpose.
Noisy machinery outside room kept me awake. Far too many notices regarding water, flies, etc and fines for not returning remote to reception.
We stayed here on our way to Cornwall. It was an affordable, comfortable place to stay mid journey & the staff were very friendly. The food was really good, especially breakfast! The room was a little tired & needing some work, as is most of the hotel, but it's really not worth complaining about. Overall satisfied with my stay.
The service, the meal, the price.
Bedroom well appointed but very small
Good location, good choice for breakfast.
Room located above the kitchen, the kitchen vent is attached to the wall outside the room window. Room actually vibrates when the vent is operational and you can hear all the activity in the kitchen so not best for a restful sleep! When checking out was advised to ask to not be put in that room if we come back! Other minor points were no working shower and a tv that turned off every 5 to 10 minutes but for one night it was acceptable.
location was good, staff good, value for money
my wife meal was ok but i had gammon which was more like a piece of bacon instead of being thick cut gammon.
Friendly clean staff. Great food. Peaceful and relaxed. Room clean and well serviced although hot even with windows open.
The duvet...it was so heavy didnt like it at all.
Twin room at the back of the hotel, good breakfast, friendly staff, good value.
Noisy bathroom fan and motorway at the front of the hotel, cheap bedding.
lovely setting, rooms very good Had an evening meal in restuarant which was very good. Breakfast was excellent everything you would want fir breakfast.
A bit isolated , nothing much at Burnham on sea which was 4 mikes away. But a very good place to spend the night on the way to cornwall.
Close to burnham and brean. Close to m5. Room excellent had everything we needed for our stay. Staff friendly, welcoming and more than accommodating. Plenty of parking. Lovely conservatory area for eating our breakfast. Great views.
In the evening the entrance to the hotel is a little dark. Driveway leading up to hotel needs attention due to many deep pits.
Love the location and proximity to motorway. The different rooms I have stayed in have always been of a high standard.
Bed small-more like a 3/4
Pleasant staff. Breakfast good.
loved the setting, staff first class, food very good one of the best hotels have staid in, will go back
nothing to dislike
Friendly staff Comfortable bed Spa bath English breakfast
Friendly staff and clean room
Some of the food in the evening was disappointing but breakfast was lovely
Location was excellent for our visit to Cheddar Gorge. Hotel and grounds were very pleasant. Bar area was relaxing with music playing at a chilled out level. We only stayed for one night.
Had to wait for 5 minutes to check in as no staff in reception. One of the kitchen staff eventually spotted us. Without pointing fingers, overall I found the staff ok but they didn't seem like a very happy bunch, the young lady on reception when we checked out and the waitresses at breakfast being the exception. One waiter I asked could not tell me what times breakfast was served, even though he said he had worked their for a couple of months? On my quest to find out if any one knew the answer to my very simple question, the night porter told me in the end. A little bit disappointing that staff can be so uninformed about their own jobs. I was a chef for 18 years and it was a good job I remembered when meal times were!!! Family room was ok but our older teenage girls had to sleep on a bunk bed which wasn't made clear to us on booking. We had been given the impression there were two single beds. A Z-bed had been supplied but was too uncomfortable for our 21 year old so she ended up on the bunk bed with our 15 year old.
Staff excellent, 4 poster bed very comfortable. Food glorious. Position of hotel great, lovely views. Bar and dining room staff extremely friendly and helpful.
Booked last room and no disabled facilities. Had to climb lots of stairs. Unable to get into bath or shower over bath, needed shower room cos of disabilities. Drink very expensive.
Beautiful grounds and a lovely traditional hotel. We had a disabled room with a huge wet room as well as an exec. double which was also very big. Beds very comfy. Tea / coffee + biscuits and nice toiletries. Breakfast was freshly cooked and very enjoyable. Will definitely stay here again, great location for Somerset Speedway. Great price from booking.com
Bedding could've been "fresher" but it was clean
Easy to find, lovely quiet location but not far off motorway. Friendly staff, good food.
Staff very friendly and professional, excellent food with pleasant dining room atmosphere
Nothing I didn't like
Free onsite parking
The hotel is in need of a complete overhaul. It's like going back to the 60's. The room was dank, dirty walls, TV hanging off the wall. Wires running down the walls with a poor attempt at covering them with plastic tubing. The door handles were those you find on kitchen cabinets. The room door didn't close properly. The ensuite was smaller than my broom cupboard. Internet was sporadic. Staff surly and unhappy looking. Had to wait ages to check in as receptionist was on the phone when I arrived. When I asked if all the rooms were that dated, the response was....Wouldn't know I wasn't born then! I look forward to never setting foot in the place again!
