This hotel and restaurant rest under the historic Brent Knoll, conveniently located off the M5 and near the town of Burnham-on-Sea. This country hotel is set on picturesque landscaped grounds, offering superb views of the Somerset Levels and Glastonbury, with Tor visible in the distance. The history of Battleborough dates back to the Doomsday Book, with numerous references to the village of Brent Knoll. The iron-age fort can be viewed from the top of knoll, reached by National Trust footpaths. Choose from a standard country double or twin rooms. For those who desire extra pampering, the hotel also has four-poster beds with jacuzzi baths. Treat yourselves even further with a stay in the decadent Mendip Suite. The friendly, welcoming staff are part of the reason why so many guests return to The Battleborough Grange Hotel. Firstly, I have never complained about a hotel in my life. But now feel I have to. Stayed at Battlesborough for one night, had 2 rooms (one for wife and I and other for 85 year old father in law). Our rooms were immediately above a wedding disco, could not get to sleep till after mid-night, complained but hotel said cant do anything. I asked for 3 free breakfasts which they agreed. To my horror without authority hotel took full amount from my credit card and for breakfasts! I will certainly not go back to this hotel. Booking.com said they will make formal complaint. The hotel was Not fit for purpose and I await compentation of the amount taken from my credit card.

Stayed in room 4. Free wifi albeit slow. Good selection of pillows and comfortable bed. Clean room and good bath/shower room. Good housekeeping. Very cost effective Room 4: Massive key fob made turning key difficult. Noisy floor with squeaks and groans when walking around room. One bedside lamp didn’t work until bulb replace on day three of four night stay. Heater did not work. Shower, once I had worked out how to use it wasn’t even pitiful. An age to dispense hot water and then you could piss on someone with greater force. Worst of all was the room was above boiler, which ran for most of the night. The hum was very noticeable from even the hallway. No sleep on first night - eventually phone night porter to find out what the noise was, little on second and by third/fourth, a mixture of just being plain tired and ear plugs – the kind you wear when using machinery. They must of known and yet no sound proofiing.

The accommodation was excellent and the staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast was first class with a very friendly and helpful waitress. The entrance from the main road although signposted was difficult to see and a very tight turn necessitating a very slow approach and turn. The speed of following cars gave cause for concern.

Room 1: Free wifi. Clean and tidy with decent selection of pillow and comfortable bed. Stayed only one night so presume good housekeeping. Shower worked, was hot and sufficient power for a decent wake up shower. Would recommend room 1 to solo traveller. Room 1: Shower/toilet room is too small and could have been made bigger - there is enough room. Annoying green light from outside parking area shines straight in. Annoying big key fob. No lock on shoer/toilet door.

A very convenient spot, ground floor room excellent, the evening meal was very good and restaurant staff very helpfull, would stay again. Were orginally going to have dinner with friends, but they could not make it, good job as there was a motor bike gathering and restaurant was very busy would not have been ideal and knowhere else to eat, was a bit ridged on time but sorted in the end and the food was excellent.

The service & facilities were excellent - a great venue for weddings/seminars etc. I would definitely recommend it for the "Country Life Magazine". The only minor problems were:- 1) Noisy guests late at night in the corridors. 2) Smokers were not using the facility at the end of the hotel. 3) Room numbers should be viewed on the fire doors. ie:- 1-7. 8-16. etc.

I was travelling between south Cornwall and Bristol to attend a wedding and I did not want to get caught up in bad traffic, so it was a last minute booking. I was most impressed with the hotel, and especially the restaurant. The food I had as an evening meal was excellent. All the staff that I had dealings with were very helpful and friendly. I would certainly stay there in the future and would pass details on to friends and family. As I only used the hotel as an overnight stay there was not a thing I disliked about the hotel.
