The Battleborough Grange Hotel & Restaurant  

Firstly, I have never complained about a hotel in my life. But now feel I have to. Stayed at Battlesborough for one night, had 2 rooms (one for wife and I and other for 85 year old father in law). Our rooms were immediately above a wedding disco, could not get to sleep till after mid-night, complained but hotel said cant do anything. I asked for 3 free breakfasts which they agreed. To my horror without authority hotel took full amount from my credit card and for breakfasts! I will certainly not go back to this hotel. Booking.com said they will make formal complaint. The hotel was Not fit for purpose and I await compentation of the amount taken from my credit card.

Stayed in room 4. Free wifi albeit slow. Good selection of pillows and comfortable bed. Clean room and good bath/shower room. Good housekeeping. Very cost effective

Room 4: Massive key fob made turning key difficult. Noisy floor with squeaks and groans when walking around room. One bedside lamp didn’t work until bulb replace on day three of four night stay. Heater did not work. Shower, once I had worked out how to use it wasn’t even pitiful. An age to dispense hot water and then you could piss on someone with greater force. Worst of all was the room was above boiler, which ran for most of the night. The hum was very noticeable from even the hallway. No sleep on first night - eventually phone night porter to find out what the noise was, little on second and by third/fourth, a mixture of just being plain tired and ear plugs – the kind you wear when using machinery. They must of known and yet no sound proofiing.

My room (Room 1) was pleasant and comfortable.

I had notified the hotel that I was going to be late, and when I arrived at around 2315, the reception was not manned, and I had to go into the bar to find someone. The foreign member of staff I found was polite, but did not know very much about the room's facilities. I think this aspect of the hotel could be considerably improved.

Staff were vert welcoming and helpful. Although there was a function that evening it was still very quiet.

The Battleborough Hotel never fails to impress. The staff are friendly and helpful, the rooms are fine and the food is of the highest quality.

Close to m5. Car park. Recently refurbished. Quiet (though this was a Thursday night in October).

This refers to my stay on 13 Oct 2011 (not to my earlier stay which was ok). On arrival, the receptionist asked if my booking of the disabled room had been a 'mistake'. I concluded that this was because I was able to walk. Only a small minority of disabled people cannot walk at all. The uk government defines a person with serious mobility issues as one who cannot walk further than 100 metres without needing to stop and rest. The distance from the disabled parking bays to reception is far shorter than 100 metres. The receptionist would not give me the disabled room. Instead, he gave me another room on the ground floor. As I was staying only one night, tired after travelling and just wanted to go to my room and rest, I did not feel inclined to argue with the receptionist. The room I was given had a standard shower which I was unable to use for fear of slipping. I complained to booking.com. This hotel states that it has facilities for disabled guests - in which case its staff should be aware that physically disabled does not necessarily mean wheelchair user. And that if a guest books the disabled room, then that is what they need and want.

Good standard of decoration. Car park. Quiet. Neutrogena toileteries.

Rooms very comfortable, location excellent (easy access to Motorway). A good base for exploring the area. Very peaceful.

Restaurant a bit "chefy".

The service & facilities were excellent - a great venue for weddings/seminars etc. I would definitely recommend it for the "Country Life Magazine".

The only minor problems were:- 1) Noisy guests late at night in the corridors. 2) Smokers were not using the facility at the end of the hotel. 3) Room numbers should be viewed on the fire doors. ie:- 1-7. 8-16. etc.

I was travelling between south Cornwall and Bristol to attend a wedding and I did not want to get caught up in bad traffic, so it was a last minute booking. I was most impressed with the hotel, and especially the restaurant. The food I had as an evening meal was excellent. All the staff that I had dealings with were very helpful and friendly. I would certainly stay there in the future and would pass details on to friends and family.

As I only used the hotel as an overnight stay there was not a thing I disliked about the hotel.
