- Central place, next to the Clyde
Perhaps we had only bad luck with the room (No. 8), but: - No warm water in basin - Toilet sewerage runs in bathroom. It smelled awfully. (According to the trails, this was a very old damage! Solution of the management: A towel around the drain) - Wardobe incline. It falls, when opened - Springs of "new" mattress came out Solution of the management: Puts a blanket on the bed - no WiFi in room The hotel itself: - Name does not match (Labeled "Harbour hotel") - Loud pub til 11 pm - No reception And last, but not least: They demanded cash in advance. Now we know why.
It's location is good on the edge of the Clyde.
Name on the hotel isn't the same. No real reception. Wifi didn't work. Bed uncomfortable. Pub/bar too noisy. Shower very noisy woke up hotel. Money better spent on a nice b and b.
The staff were exceedingly friendly and helpful, nothing was too much bother and the food was excellent.
Unfortunately the lift was broken and being disabled I find stairs difficult but that was rgw only thing which wasn't their fault.
My stay was brilliant, staff was lovely and polite, room was spotless, spacious and better than expected. Breakfast was lovely. Will be back!
The sign wasn't saying 'the bay hotel' which caused a little bit of confusion.
the location, the staff, the couthiness!
It was all good
Handy location for walking. Food wasn't bad, breakfast was OK but limited. Bedroom was nicely decorated and the bed was comfy.
The entrance to the bedrooms was poor quality. We know they are upgrading the facilities so this could possibly change in the near future. The bathroom electrics were not working so we had lamp in the corner which was plugged in on an adapter in the bedroom.
The staff where friendly and helpful the room was comfy, well maintained could not fault the bed. The food was beautiful large portions. Would recommend this hotel and hope to visit again soon .
The position was good.My room(7)was quite adequate and the en-suite was pleasant, with a good shower. There was ample storage space and It had tea-making facilities and a tv.
The lift was out of action for the four days I was there. The fan in the en-suite was scarily noisy for the first twenty minutes or so,quite off-putting!The mirror would have been better above the electric sockets instead of a picture. There wasn't a chair in the room and the outlook was not good maybe that was why the blind had not been repaired.
Kay has only owned the renamed Bay Hotel for six months so it is still a work in progress. That does not stop it from being an hotel I would recommend without hesitation. Booked only a couple of days before we were to arrive on our first trip to Scotland, despite the name McDonald and being over 60, we were pleased as punch. Kay and her staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble, and though there was nothing we were short of, anything we asked for, extra tea bags and milk and a minor problem with the door key, was dealt with quickly and cheerfully. The hotel is situated behind the HMRC office which fronts onto the River Clyde in Greenock, a beautiful part of the country. It is quiet though still fairly central. very handy for the Dunoon Ferry. The food served in the evening was delicious, hot and fresh. Breakfast was as good, if not better. Thanks to Kay and all, Good Luck and we will definitely be seeing you again.
Our room was excellent but unfinished.
No light or ventilation in the bathroom/toilet. A standard lamp fed via an extension lead from the bedroom was not good practice. The lift was out of order which for us was quite a problem. Lacked professionalism.
The young lady who served breakfast
The hotel was old and tired. Room was dreadful Lift looked dangerous Food was aweful The teapot was filthy Reception staff unfriendly
The staff were very welcoming, friendly and helpful. The food was delicious (compliments to the chef). The room was very comfortable. The hotel is still being renovated in places but this did not interfere with our stay.
Views of river and hills.Walk into town.
No wifi at all in our 2day stay
Staff and chef very friendly! Food was very good!
Sheet didn't fit bed! Windows unable to be closed! Room freezing cold! Refused a refund ( wish we had looked at room before paying ) Up 3 flights of back concrete stairs that are filthy! No light working in the bathroom/toilet Standard lamp with wire going under door up wall to a hanging extension lead used for the TV. Unable to get Wifi staff said no password needed! We needed one to connect! No one knew it! Manageress KAY very Obnoctious and rude although after being told off by her partner calmed down! Not before threatening to throw us out and ring the police FOR US COMPLAINING POLITELY ABOUT THE COLD ROOM! Central heating unable to go on as boiler was out of order! DISASTER! NEVER AGAIN!
staff where ok
rooms where not serviced very well and where very small no where to put any belongings will not return
Upon arrival guy carried my bags to my room Upon mentioning my bathroom light was not working the staff sent someone to fix it straight away, unable to be fixed I was moved to another room. This room was lovely and I would happily have paid £75 per night for this room not the room I started in. Breakfast was cooked well, and the server was very friendly despite her appearance. Staff allowed me to check out late which was very handy.
Hotel did not look like pictures online from exterior. Upon checking in the guy did not know about breakfast times or how to access wi fi-saying he only worked saturdays Room was not cleaned during my stay. Bathroom light did not work. No bottled water in the room, had to buy it from the bar. Breakfast was served to me by a lady wearing her pajamas and slippers-this was not professional in my opinion.
Nice location.Staff were pleasant and helpful. This was our first visit good value for a short break. Would return to this hotel.
Hotel seems to be a work in progress with staff and owners who care and make a great effort to ensure a nice stay.
Single glazed windows in room made it a bit noisy at night as it is adjacent to a busy police station.
the toilets where a bit small , and no view from small window
The hotel and room was clean and warm
My room was next to the police station and the dog kennels , they barked for hours
the friendliness of owner and staff.they could not have been more helpful. the evening meal was good and very good value. breakfast was very flexible and nice. The rooms were newly decorated, the beds comfortable. The location was per
Our only problem was finding it as the old name was still up
The bedroom . the bar .
The passageway to our room , it was like a building site . The food was not good. The owner had locked the hotel up on one day. We had to go to the police station for advice on how to gain access .An unusual experience all round . You try to see the funny side .Fawlty Towers maybe
Good choice for breakfast Catered for individual needs
The exterier needs improving and the stairwell area to rooms very poor and needs upgrading
What we liked about the Bay Hotel, was without doubt the food it was fantastic (top marks to the chef) also Stacey done a fantastic job looking after us. The prices of the food and drink were very good. Great place for a few days. Plenty of bars and places to eat close by.
