Staff helpfulness. Excellent evening meal. Excellent breakfasts. Large comfortable room that was warm. Lounge was comfortable.
Would have liked 2 chairs in a double room. Cleaning needs to be more thorough.
super location, friendly and helpful staff. Good value for money.
Lovely large bedroom with on suite shower & bathroom, Very clean & tidy hotel and central location to Greenock town centre and close to Port Glasgow and Gourock
Friendliness of staff Very good bathroom Good evening meal and breakfast
Outside of hotel not attractive No chair in bedroom
Very friendly staff
The search engine from Bookings showed 4.8 miles from where we needed to be but in actual fact it was 33 miles away this totally compromised the purpose of our journey making us late and adding 120 miles to our itinerary. In addition the hotel was cold, bathroom was unheated no hot water in the evening at all. Noise from nearby Police station cells kept us awake. If the search results had been accurate we would have never gone there. Really unhappy I would never trust Bookings search results again.
Friendly helpful staff, food was exellent
We stayed for 6 nights and found everyone all staff helpful and extremely friendly. Kay and Stephan went out of there way at all times it was warm and felt like we were staying with friends. It is not your typical corporate hotel. The bad reviews on here I think are from the previous owners. Will be back again Kelly and Terry
Very clean and comfortable. Lovely staff.
Took money from card for accom. without telling us or providing a receipt which led to us paying the bill again. When checked our bank a/c, we noticed this-contacted them straight away. It took 3 phone calls and we were never reimbursed the full amount. Marred our trip. Cost us an extra 15 pound- not happy.
Wonderful welcome, nothing too much trouble, very good well cooked fresh food. Easy parking. Good position.
Décor needs a rethink to cater for modern taste. Room very spartan, oddities like a lock which didn't work.
Very nice welcome, spotless room, fantastic food plus, parking outside the building. Handy for all local shops and areas, and a "Good feel factor" about the Hotel. I would highly recommend.
There was nothing negative whatsoever about the Hotel.
The staff were helpful and friendly. We were moved quickly to a better room when the first room was very noisy and unsuitable. The little wine bar was pleasant and newspapers were provided at breakfast. Breakfast looked good. There is a lovely arts centre and sports centre right beside the hotel. The hotel is set just back from the water.
The rooms were all accessed by a door at the back of the wine bar into a very cold, poorly maintained stairway and corridor. This corridor was like a hostel rather than a hotel. The bed wasn't made when we were out and towels weren't changed. The bed had no mattress protector. There was a very noisy fun fair outside and the rooms didn't seem well sound proofed. I really wanted to like this quirky wee hotel but there were too many negatives. Maybe it's a work in progress so I hope the owner manages to get this hotel up and running soon. I booked this on the strength of other reviews so someone really likes it!
Food, service and price were good.
Although the room was clean, having a window high in the wall with no outlook was claustrophobic.
Friendly and good value. Anxious to help.
Some of the facilities were a bit haphazard.
The whole place was strange like it was closing down or something. The breakfast was very greasy and veeerry slow coming. Nowhere was the name bay hotel. It was called the beacon.
Whilst it is true this Hotel isn't easy to find, having past hotel names on its exterior. The great thing is that since its new owners have taken over and began renovations it is beginning to become a great hotel.. The staff are excellent, the food here is second to none, and the accommodation is both clean, very comfortable and of a great standard.
Having read reviews both good and bad on this hotel, I have stayed here to date more than a few times and will return here on every opportunity I can, over a chain of hotels, no names necessary... ...
Location, price, size of the room, no extra costs for travel cot
Lift did not working at the time but you can manage when you on the 1st floor. In general very good option
The warm welcome when we got there. We were received very nicely. The breakfast was done nicely and nice members of staff.
Excellent location. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Enjoyed the lovely breakfast.
Confusing trying to find it as different name on hotel. No twin rooms. Stayed for 2 nights for family reasons and we were surprised that there was no "housekeeping' in rooms (beds not made, tea & coffee not replenished etc) small details I know. Having said that, would definitely stay there again.
Don't judge the hotel by its exterior as the interior is great and the staff and local people are terrific Great breakfast. Good value for money.
There wasn't anything not to like after you get over the outside appearance
The night that I arrived no-one seemed to be expecting me. Off hand manners of staff, terrible table service; I had to wake up a member of staff on a Monday morning at 09:00 having requested breakfast for 08:30 and thus did not have enough time for a cooked breakfast. The next morning a bowl, a packet of cereal and a spoon were plonked on the table in front of me, after ten minutes of waiting I asked the neighbouring table if I could have some of their milk! Failing electrics to the extent that I suspect that they are unsafe, the first night there was obviously a loose connection between the bed and bath room lights as switching one on turned the other off. I moved rooms that night and on the second many of the rooms (including mine and the first that I occupied) had multiple repeated power failures of both sockets and lights. No apology was offered the next day, it was obviously assumed that it was one of those things one should accept.
Particularly the staff they were really helpful and couldn't do enough for you.
Unfortunately my only complaint was the bed the mattress was awful far to soft and really poor quality I suffered with my back for about ten days after my stay. This is the only thing that would make me not come back and if I recommend this hotel it would come with that warning.
- Central place, next to the Clyde
Perhaps we had only bad luck with the room (No. 8), but: - No warm water in basin - Toilet sewerage runs in bathroom. It smelled awfully. (According to the trails, this was a very old damage! Solution of the management: A towel around the drain) - Wardobe incline. It falls, when opened - Springs of "new" mattress came out Solution of the management: Puts a blanket on the bed - no WiFi in room The hotel itself: - Name does not match (Labeled "Harbour hotel") - Loud pub til 11 pm - No reception And last, but not least: They demanded cash in advance. Now we know why.
