I lived in Southend for many years, this was a visit to see family and attend a family gathering. The town (I will never call it a city) is a shadow of its former self. I wouldn't go to Southend unless I had a specific reason, it just isn't as welcoming as it used to be and the high street is dead.
In the summer, short break with young children who want no more than the beach and this place would be ok. There are some decent restaurants but stay out of the town centre for those.

Going around visiting places. Eating out.
Going around visiting places. Eating out. Great taxi service. Hotel was not so good. Not disabled friendly. Fell in bathroom not built for anyone who is disabled.. Hurt myself quite bad. Screaming in agony. Apart from that. Will not be staying in this hotel again

Southend (bearing in mind our visit was in Winter!)
Southend (bearing in mind our visit was in Winter!) is actually really nice. We didn't expect much (we expected Morecambe, but got Southport!). There decent shops; the promenade was clean and open. We ate in The Last Post, but would certainly try other places when we visit again.
It is hard to give a fair representation of a town after a very brief visit, but it made a sufficiently good impression for us to want to see more, when the opportunity arises

We had a fantastic time but will never bist Toby carvery"s half way house again as staff were rude and couldn't deliver on an ice cream pudding and then charged us over our Groupon voucher people were leaving by the bucket load due to the apaulling service and badly trained staff a complaint to Toby carvery is in the process.
But other than that Southend on sea is a lovely place a great beach and super shopping centre and old Leigh had the best seafood I had tasted in a long time

We originally found this location as a possible date weekend...
We originally found this location as a possible date weekend away from our son but time didn’t work out so took him too as a mini break. Worked well with him and we will come back for date night! There are lots of hotels within good distance of things. There are a number of arcades which although all have the same kind of games also share tickets which was good. The indoor fair was brilliant, I love the contactless game pass! Made us try different games and decent things on offer for tickets earned. The indoor fair rides and even more the softplay was brilliant! Extremely busy on a Saturday but was brilliant it’s big it has so much for kids to do and all three of us had a great time!
The sea life centre was great too the staff were super friendly and the animals have amazing enclosures, nice to have a mixture of animals too and they all seemed content in their enclosures.
The fun fair itself looks great with a variety of rides! Alas we couldn’t this time due to the tiny human but look forward to coming back.
Top it all there is a revolution bar as well which hands down I am so happy we found! Been once before and food is super cheap and mega cheerful! Cocktails are to die for and again the staff were great and really friendly with my son.
The walk along the seafront between funfair and sea life there is a stone and sand beach, play park and fountains for kids to play in.
Please fly surprised by how much there is to do for us as a family and as a couple and how cheap it all is!
Was only a short stay but there are tons to do

The seafront apartment is a perfect location for those who want to stay close to the beach. It is very spacious, clean, and beautifully maintained. I could not have asked for a better place to spend my New Year eve, bearing in mind that it was booked on a short notice of 2 hours before we reached there. Yet we were provided with all basic necessities like towel, coffee, milk and a clean tidy apartment. Overall, we would like to thank the host for the wonderful stay and making us feel right at home with a cozy atmosphere.
The flat is in a great location for seeing Southend, and with off street parking is a good choice if you are looking for a place at a reasonable cost for a few nights. The flat is very much like a hotel room with a kitchen area. Hot water and central heating all worked well, and access to the flat via number pad lock was convenient. The bathroom was clean and modern. Having all south facing windows meant the flat was very bright, which was lovely. The bedding and towels were all good and clean.
The location was very central to everything, a short stroll to the seafront and town centre and a short walk to the train station the other way and a lot of nice restaurants and bars. Parking facilities were good even though the car park is only small behind the hotel. The breakfast was good, really enjoyed it. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The room was small but had all the facilities we needed
I chose the room for the guarantee of a sea view and was delighted to find a vintage balcony overlooking both the estuary and the mayhem of Adventure Island amusements. Corporate hotels often have sealed windows, so the chance to get some peaceful evening air was delightful. Also nice to have refillable wall-mounted toiletries in the immaculate modern bathroom. Thanks, Radisson Palace!
Really lovely little apartment in a convenient location near central Southend. The beds are comfy and everything you need to set up a little home-away-from-home is provided. All five of us slept comfortably every night. In a nutshell, much better than paying for multiple hotel rooms!
The host, whose name is Zoya, is lovely. Thanks so much, Zoya! We’ll definitely stay here again!
Ali was very friendly and helpful. However it was clear that this was a house if multiple occupation. Residents smoke and this could be smelt throughout the property.
Also was expecting one double bedroom and one single bedroom. Got one bedroom with camp bed in kitchen/lounge area. Was Ok for one night but quite unsuitable for 3 adults
location excellent being central to the beach and the shopping centre. come out of the hotel and turn right for shopping and turn left for the seafront - both 5 minutes away. Room was good and had a great view directly overlooking the famous pier. reception very good with the young lady there in training and couldn't do enough to help us.
The accommodation is very well kept, neatly furnished, spotlessly clean. It is located within short walking distance of the seafront, the train station, and local shopping. The management was very responsive when we had a housekeeping request. The kitchen facilities were perfect for our needs.
Clean, quiet, comfortable. Staff at the hotel and the pub were all terrific, friendly and efficient. The Last Post faces Southend Central Station and is round the corner from the shops, you couldn't be more central. And then there's the Wetherspoons food available all day downstairs!
The apartment was nicely fit out and had most of the amenities you need. Lots of space and storage. The location is not too far from Southend Central Station and not far to the waterfront. Nice to have access to Netflix and Prime on the TV
Perfect location on seafront and near to everything. Staff were so friendly and helpful. Sea view and lovely spacious room either water and tea/coffee facilities and toiletries. Bar open to late and security men do helpful too.
Everything, I use this hotel every single month for business meetings in the Southend on Sea area. It is by far the best property, especially for price, comfort and service. The staff are amazing as is the breakfast.
Hotel as a whole was good, staff very good and attentive. Breakfast was good and was included in room rate, so made it good value for money overall. Wifi signal good and facilities in the room OK. Would use again.
Clean, welcoming, central location. Delicious full English breakfast in the morning. Public parking available nearby the property. Recommended for weekend and weekdays trip to Southend on sea.
Friendly, hospitable staff. Excellent full English breakfast served in dining room in a Covid safe manner.
Excellent location on the seafront, near free public parking.
