Staff were extremely helpful, made to feel really welcome. Great peaceful location but close to town, local wildlife park.

a little out of the way from the center of ulverston, but if you are a walker the walk along the canal was pleasant.

Lovely warm welcome from Joe and the rest of the staff, couldn't do enough for us to make our stay relaxing. The food in the restaurant was absolutely delicious. We will be booking to stay there again without a doubt and would recommend to anyone considering it.

the room decor is a little faded, and didn't suit winter stays. hated the pink towels and the green tablecloths!! but these are minor points.

Outlook to the estuary

We only stayed for 1 night but were very happy with our stay. The room was a little on the small side but the beds were comfortable and the view out of the patio window was great - our room viewed directly onto the beach and estuary. We did not have an evening meal as we were out with friends but we did sample the mulled wine with chilli biscuits on our return and relaxed in front of the log fire until late in the evening - there was no rush to get us out of the bar. Breakfast is taken in the conservatory and every table has a great view of the estuary where the many wading birds can be seen feeding. Breakfast was excellent with a wide choice - I had the home made muesli followed by scambled egg on toast - both were very nice.

From the moment you arrive your looked after and made to feel welcome. The food was excellent and the home made bread and preserves and breakast just another of the excellent touches in a long list. The view and sunrises from the bedroom can only be described as breathtaking myself and my partner will return soon.

Only minor issues bit toasty in the room however quick tweak to the radiator solved that and the starters were surprisingly weak for the price despite the mains being exceptional..

Loved sitting by the roaring fire drinking cappucino and eating chocolate brownie whilst torrential rain fell incessantly outside! Also appreciated the very reasonable extra amount charged for a room with a sea view - stunning - even sitting on the balcony for a while in a coat did not detract from the enjoyment of the watching a family of swans on the water on a cold, beautifully sunny morning! The dinner was superb and the conservatory had been made to look so inviting. This was a last minute, impulsive short break in an area of the Lake District we have not visited for a few years. We look forward to returning - possibly at another time of year - although it will be difficult not to come when the fire is lit!

Food was excellent, breakfast was fresh no heated up eggs or old coffee, rooms nice and clean, friendly people.Watching the tide come up was a eye catcher.

The location and view are wonderful. The staff were friendly and attentive although not overly chatty - possibly used to business travellers rather than leisure visitors, especially during the week. The food was tasty and well-prepared too.

Our room was small and had a very disappointing view of a bramble covered wall and smelt very musty and damp. The food was good but I felt it was expensive for what it was, and the formality of the dining room/conservatory was a bit unnecessary.

The lovely view will stay in my memory. I loved the fact you could sit outside on the balcony and watch the sea, sky, bird life, watch the colours change, the night come in and absorb the peace and tranquility. The room was very clean, nicely presented and comfortable. It was nice to be able to take Dottie our dog and everyone made her welcome. We dined in the restaurant and found it convenient and the food very good.We would like to go and stay there again.

The approach to the hotel was dismal and our hearts sank but we were pleased when we got there and saw the view.

Our "garden room" faced a brick wall There was only one sitting for the evening meal for residents but private visitors could choose their time of meal The beds were too small for my wife and I as I am six feet plus The location of the hotel was too far from the centre of Ulverston
