Overlooking the Market Square in the small town of Masham, this charming inn is in a fine Georgian building of tremendous character, built in the second half of the 18th century.

The Wheatsheaf Hotel is set in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales National Park. The restaurant serves dishes made using local recipes and produce, and the bar serves real ales.

Location was great, staff were very friendly and helpful, very tasty poached egg at breakfast.
Couldn't use the shower properly as the showerbowl did not drain and I didn't want it to overflow, and I was told on checking out (I know I should have said something immediately but it was late and I was wet and didn't want to get dressed and go down to the bar) that yes, that shower always gives problems - not what I wanted to hear, put me in a different room from the start please. Shwr door broken, maintenance needed. Bar jukebox noisy but that goes with a room over the bar.
Staff were very helpful. Accommodated our early arrival. Good pub food and excellent breakfast.
Basic accommodation - mould in bathroom, tired facilities, over priced.
Friendly staff and good ,filling breakfast.
Room was shabby and not particularly clean. To get to the room you had to go through the bar where the locals tended to stare at you.Music played in the bar until quite late.
Great location, great service & a good breakfast.
Rooms although newly refurbished are quite small but all you need.
breakfast food was very good
Coffee at breakfast
in the town
Perfectly adequate , 5 star it ain't but friendly. Breakfast was v good. Free parking opposite. There are smarter properties in town but they're dearer!
Bit scruffy round the edges, few cobwebs bit of dust
small room, very uncomfortable, ill fitting sheets, curtains not lined, very small shower with scalding water. whole place in need of a refurb
Food quality not that good
The bedroom was clean and adequate. The bathroom was clean but the shower was poor as the shower head was tied on with a plastic tie up and couldnt be moved. The staff were a bit quirky but very pleasant and helpful. The breakfast was good and the lady serving it was very helpful.
The pub area is tired and a bit grimy especially the carpets. The tables felt like they had not had a good clean in a long time. Had a meal in the first evening and was not impressed. Took over an hour for it to be brought to our table after we had ordered it. Asked for no mushrooms on the burger and it arrived covered in mushrooms.Felt like it had been cooked by someone who had no idea what they were doing and all three meals were badly presented.Had a look in the kitchen and it it didnt look clean so skipped breakfast on the second day.
food, beer, staff, room, location
Noise of traffic
bed spring's in no 6 no 3 is a fab room .
Excellent breakfast. Set us up for the day,
The bed was a little lumpy and a lot of noise from the road. Their internet had been down and when we arrived they had know knowledge of our booking. Fortunately they were able to fit us in as it was only night; suggest you ring to confirm.
friendliness and clean, basic but nice.
the décor in the small rooms. Rooms looked bigger on your web site- you must have a really wide angle lens!!!!-sadly miss leading.
Location, breakfast, room in general
The location of this pub was good and the staff in the evening and morning were friendly enough....also the breakfast was good.
No WIFI was available during our stay. The rooms were very basic and dated. The bed was incredibly hard and there was a condenser unit outside our window, the motor kept starting every 10 minutes or so during the night keeping us awake but it was too hot to close the window. As I was not asked how my stay was when I checked out I assumed they were not interested!
Cooked English Breakfast was superb.
Left over food on pub floor at breakfast from previous evening. My allocated room for two nights given away. Avoid room 5 no spacr cannot move. Our friends were in room 1 for two nights not serviced the whole stay. Reported and was told that the cleaner had said she had cleaned?
Staff were good.
A bit like fawlty towers and caseys court all rolled into one. Stock control needs sorting.
Lovely, helpful and thoughtful staff.
cheap. Good breakfast. The room is immediately above the pub, Friday and sunday nights were very quiet. Saturday night has very loud music but quiet down after 11 and stop before midnight.
There are two rooms in the building that use an electrical masher to get rid of the toilet contents. I used one of these before in France and you wouldn't know the difference. However this one smell and make terrible noise. Therefore I don't trust the tap water for drinking. That is the main reason why I will not recommend it to others.
It was an old world type of place Breakfast was very good
Not much space in the double room Hand wash basin very small
Brilliant location, really helpful/ friendly staff, spotlessly clean and lovely breakfast! Great value for money
The only negative is that they have a problem with their wifi at the moment so if you book online be sure to ring up to check as they might not know you're coming otherwise!
Central location Decent room and facilities Friendly and helpful staff Would stay again
Charm, quality of food, location.
Steep stairs. (Old fashioned, character pub so you can't have everything).
