Overlooking the Market Square in the small town of Masham, this charming inn is in a fine Georgian building of tremendous character, built in the second half of the 18th century.

staff very friendly and helpfull. extremely good breakfast would definitely visit again.
The staff were helpful and apologised for refurbishment knew us by name they work hard for their money. They are pleasant and welcoming. Bed and towels great and spacious room. Location was great.
Pub is scruffy. Carpets need replacing. Room needs to be looked at with critical eye. Paint missing from behind dressing table, useless sloping shelf in bathroom toilet brush broken curtains really could do with replacing and lampshade a bit tacky. It's rough and ready.
Great value for money, lovely rooms and decor. The staff were very friendly and couldn't have been any more accommodating. Would definitely stay again, and breakfast was very tasty. Thanks for a great stay.
good value for money central location good food both evening and breakfast. Really comfortable beds. Ample tea and coffee on tray in room
nothing really to dislike
How friendly and helpful they were. Breakfast was brilliant and so was the service.
Was there in middle of a refurb.
Room 4 a lot of noise from the bar below, found it very difficult to sleep, had to go down stairs to ask to turn the volume down, didn't make a lot of difference,
Friendly staff Good food (evening meal) Good value drinks Excellent location Ample free parking
Comfort of bed Noise from air con unit for the cellar which was right outside our bedroom window (£20 knocked off bill for our lack do sleep) Breakfast was poor Lack of radiator/heating in the bathroom
excellent location, really good food, very friendly and helpful staff, situated right on the edge of the market square
very steep steps
I have stayed here before and was fortunate to get a double room, food and beer excellent, staff very friendly and helpful.
Room 2 I know I book as a single but the room was not up to standard, the bed was to big for the room so had to climb over it to let the blind down. Putting a small case on the floor made it difficult to get to the kettle. No space for a chair so had to sit on the bed. mattress should have been thrown out many years ago. Would only stay there again if give a better room.
The location of the pub was very handy and easy to find. The breakfast was lovely particularly the black pudding!
The shower in the room could have done with some maintenance as some of the shower heads didn't spray, also the doors didn't meet in the middle causing water to go over the floor.
Staff very helpful and pleasant. Excellent breakfast with plenty of refills and toast.
Toilet kept making random noises in the night but not enough to wreck my nights sleep.
Cleanliness, great shower, nice toiletries, plenty of tea, coffee, milk & biscuits (& mugs not cups!), good TV, comfy bed, excellent service and good choice at breakfast. Friendly staff.
Room 4 was right over the pool room - very noisy indeed, especially as there was a band playing on Saturday night. Luckily they stopped fairly early on: I thought I was going to be kept awake until long after midnight! Didn't like leaving the key behind the bar each time we went out.
Helpfulness of staff and flexibility to deal with our requirements. Breakfast was excellent. Good value.
Very steep stair access.
The food was good and the staff friendly
The interior could go with a bit of a face lift
Very steep stairs to bedrooms
location good, room very clean with facilities, staff helpful, breakfast good.
the boom boom music from the jukebox, but then it is a pub.
Very charming bar area, very pleasant staff.
Room was very small, bathroom fittings were broken.
All the staff were brilliant, couldn't do enough for you. Food really nice. Menu had unusual dishes on it..
Room 3 tired. No wardrobe. Shower hose leaked and shower head rail loose from wall. All floors really creaky. Macerators in other rooms noisy.
The rooms are clean & the bed was comfy so had a good nights sleep eventually. Loads of very hot water great for a long soak in the bath. Very helpful & friendly staff who were always on hand. A really nice well cooked breakfast.
The music from the bar sounds very loud in the bedrooms & was playing until 1.00 on the Saturday night. Unable to have an evening meal on a Sunday as they only served until 4.00. The bar was very quiet hardly any customers so lacked any atmosphere which was what we enjoyed on our 1st visit.
Good hotel, nice location, friendly staff, nice breakfast
creaky floorboards, a bit pricey
Just of the market Square in Masham. Good access to the whole of the village
Size of room, and size of bathroom
Food was excellent, we tried the evening meal and it was very tasty and good value for money. The staff, as always are friendly and very helpful. Rooms are clean and well presented. Breakfast consisted of local produce which was of a high standard. All in all a very pleasant place to stay this is the 8th time we have stopped here since April 2014 and have not had a bad experience yet.
No dark beers available in the bar.
Noise from bar/kitchen cooler or fridge bad. No special menu due to new chef, so advertised food was not available.
Nice sized room Good breakfast in morning Plenty of free parking in the town Walking distance to both Theakstons and Blacksheep breweries
