Val and Steve made us very welcome. A lovely little hotel and pub
The room and facilities
Good location, staff were friendly and service at bar was good. room was small but sufficient, bed was actually really comfy.
Windows and curtains were absolutely filthy.
The bed was comfortable
When I was having my breakfast I found a black long hair on the sausage and I showed one member of staff that was it apart from that I was happy about everything
Food is excellent, the decor is old and for the price I am not complaining. Really comfortable. Just stone throw away from the beach. Very good parking; quite and relaxing. I like the old deco styling; may be better change them soon with new ones... Breakfast is brilliant, not too heavy, not too much but just right...
Beddings had little bit blood on the duvet inside cover; asked the night manager around 11 p.m. - they gave us a new sheets... Perhaps this can be avoided by checking the duvet as well as all the covers before the next customers...
Location and friendly staff
Hunters Chicken Meal
Poor Car Parking 3rd bed not provided for child Cups not washed when room was tidied Grumpy Staff Bar closed early one night (before 10) without telling residents No one asked if stay was enjoyable/no one cared!
Height of electric switch for shower outside of bathroom door. Being unable to reach, hence no shower available
Good size room and parking on site was excellent.
The staff were lovely and really nice breakfast
The rooms were very dusty and there was a hole in the bedding. The window sill was very dirty.
Room was clean & bedding fresh -curtain netting need a replacement as old & past it usefulness-windows don't open? Breakfast was excellent- but lack of tea bags & no skimmed milk was available in room.
Requested a room with a bath long before arrival - only two rooms had baths??? Non was available to my request? - room was too small for a double bed & kettle on the floor as nearest power socket was not acceptable - no shelves in the bathroom - shower door did not close correctly - damp shown in corner by window after heavy rains can't really say it was value for money or given a three star ranking- sorry but need improving!
It was well situated for our needs as we were going to sidley bexhill on sea which was only 15 minutes away. The meal at night was excellent as so was the full english breakfast the next day.All the staff were pleasant and very welcoming.
I had no dislikes
Hard working & obliging staff
Price and breakfast and Ball-pit!!
Location (mind you the actual town rather than hotel), busy bar, higher noise levels than desirable
Location near the sea. Value for money. Good location for exploring the local area highlights including, close to Pevensey Castle. Close to Beachey Head. Close to the town of Battle. Good breakfast.
Guests need to keep in mind that you are staying in a pub so there can be a bit of noise into the evening and some of the persons you meet in the pub can be friendly and some not so friendly.
Free parking. Quite good single room. Very good bathroom and shower. Comfortable large single bed. Very good food - breakfast and evening meals. Located quite close to the seafront.
Busy road next to the hotel. No space for desk/table+chair in the room.
Location is very good. Plenty of places to eat. Almost on the beach. Eastbourne is 3 mins away. Pevensey Castle is walking distance. If you like walking the beach is great although a bit stoney.
The hotel is old which is ok but there is no excuse for a poor cleaning regime. Our room was very very small and very dirty. The bed was a divan type and was comfortable but the base of the divan looked like it would have been more at home in a skip, the shower room however was good but no hot water for the sink. The shower was electric thankfully. Its a shame because hotel could be so much more. Please ask questions before you book.
Not much really, the water was hot and the bed was clean and comfortable.
The decor was dated in this single room with a double bed in it. The bathroom was like a dungeon and the sash window was broken. Due to the size, there were few places to put luggage and personals, the tea and coffee team was on the floor! Not good.
atmosphear really hapy helpful staff
Location is good but excellent if your main purpose is a beach holiday. Food is good, the hotel is clean and staff generally helpful.
Minimal storage in the room I was in so you have to live out of a suitcase if you are staying several days, as I was.
Breakfast was very good
As seen on other comments, this hotel needs a deep clean and full refurbishment. Very old decor with filthy net curtains thick dust on the lamp shades. Fine if staying with mates and just looking for a place to crash for the night. Wouldn't recommend for young families.
close to beach, convenient base, reasonable prices
we liked all about the stay at the Bay hotel
Room 2 , clean & comfortable ,(with exception of window ) tea & coffee tray with biscuits . Towels , with guest soaps & sachets of hair/body wash . Good breakfast . Would stay again preferably with repairs done .
Loudly creaking wardrobe door . Grubby net curtain & window with broken sash , mould around window & putty missing fom a pane of glass so there was an open gap between frame & glass .
Security, food quality, service, parking as available
Room 1,Cramped, unable to open windows. Black mould on windows and in shower. Lack of usable power sockets (reported one as broken, this was replaced, but still not working)
