No food available [kitchen closed] Having to pay full price for 1 Nights stay [booked 2] Had their power cut off

£36 a night - can't complain about much at that price

I had booked via Booking.Com the day before but I was not convinced they were expecting me. Arrived late and simply used room so can't comment on bar. Was not offered any breakfast, was told that when I wanted to leave just leave the key on the bed and exit via fire door into car park.

Paint work slap dash, no breakfast (not made clear at booking), access via kitchen late at night, under and behind bed dirty, cabling to tv adhock and off wall, general finsh to room rushed

Heating was off and had to ask twice for it to be put on. No way of getting breakfast. Bed lumpy. Decor horribly dated. Fixings cheap.

Cost very low due the fact that this hotel is first price

1) Hotel announced as 4 stars on website = 0 star currently 2) No soap or shower gel available 3) Rails way located at 25 meters form hotel with 1 train avery half an hour 4) NO BREAKFAST IN THIS HOTEL ANYMORE = I will sent to you the bill of my first breakfast = 14.95GBP 5) If I was informed that this hotel has not star I did not book rooms

It was dirty, meal not good, busy railway line right next to it.

The friendly atmosphere as soon as you walk in.

The mattress had not the minimum condition to be called mattress; the service was useless as a B and B without a Breakfast is just one B. There was not staff to prepare a breakfast for us, even as this one was paid the night before.

Brilliant service. Great food. Very clean and room really comfortable. A credit to the owner.

Clean and comfortable room. Great service from the young lady on duty at the time I stayed there. The food was great. Definitely the best fish and chips I have eaten in a hotel/Inn/Pub in a very long time. The whole stay was very good value for money.

A nice location - but very close to a busy main railway line.

Staff seemed unaware of our booking and didn't know how much to charge. We asked what time for breakfast and they asked the chef if it was alright for us to have breakfast as early as 9.30. The bed was the most uncomfortable we've ever slept on. The kettle smelt of sweaty bodies. The wash basin was very small. There was no information on hotel amenities.

I chose this hotel as it was convenient for me en route from North West England to the South Coast and to enable me to visit a relative nearby.

I acknowledge that this pub (it is not a hotel) is not expensive but customer care is non existent. The owner appears to "manage" the business from her private rooms only taking a personal involvement in any matters affecting our stay when pressed to do so. We had to pay upfront before being shown to the room. Then we had to walk through a tatty utility room to reach the stairs. After much negotiation we were promised a breakfast for 0800. We had to pay up front for that also. No staff were around at the promised breakfast time; no attempt had been made to lay a table or provide the meal and I had to rouse the owner from her bed to get my payment refunded. We resorted to breakfast at Tesco some 6 miles away - as suggested by a staff member when we checked in. Clearly I would not recommend this place to anyone !!

Very welcoming, we were staying over night to break our journey. The room was small but clean & comfortable. The evening meal was good value for the cost, large portions. Breakfast was timed to suit us. Not for the disabled due to stairs.

The Beacon Inn is a little tired looking internally.

they had a bar. The showers were warm and the rooms okay. View in the morning was pretty and a nice picnic area outside.

Having to enter and exit through the bar and the train tracks nearby.

Had to wait about 40 minutes to get in our room as were told they hadn't received a booking due to issues with this website. Not sure if that's true but either way a complimentary drink or something may have been nice - the young staff were nice about it, not their fault. Once we finally got our room everything was fine - nice room, clean, wifi worked.

How long we had to wait around for a room. Suggest if you book them to ring up before you get there to check the room will be ready

When we arrived our booking had not been received. We had booked three rooms. Luckily there were still two available however the third member of our party had to sleep in the 'apartment' upstairs. This was clearly owner accommodation. Shabby and reeking of cigarette smoke. Not very pleasant. The other rooms were ok, quite spacious but very old-fashioned and in need of updating. The staff however were friendly and welcoming.
