The price, and the breakfast. Very handy location for us too, with parking. Decor a bit tired, but it wouldn't stop me staying again.

I was a little concerned at first when i realised the Bear was a pub on a main road However no noise came into the room The room was very pleasant as were the evening staff and the food was good The only sour not was the morning staff at was missing for so long that i almost had to leave a note to say call me for payment but finally i banged on the kitchen door and asked the chef to find someone for me Finally i paid (now late for my business meeting) but was not told that i needed a code to leave the car park ! Another delay!

Very welcoming and all staff a credit to you. It was nice to come back after a long day and Gareth remembered who we were by name, not something you can say about other hotels!!!

Staff were extremely helpful. Food very good; large restaurant area gave plenty of choice for seating, although the warmest area was the smallest, and therefore quite full. Although listed, Classic fm was not available on the radio channels of the tv. Car parking difficult when coming from the south - it was necessary to drive down the High Street , turn in a side road and drive back to access the car park without illegally crossing chevroned area. A second barrier at the back of the hotel might solve this, instead of blocking access with pillars.

Conveniently placed with access to a varied selection of restaurants and shops. Good breakfast. Located at a very busy junction. My room was a corner position so the traffic in the morning was quite intrusive.

Excellent staff I cannot see how this hotel can justify its price except for it being in Esher and the only hotel in town. Most of the better budget chains have better rooms.

The little touches esp. in the room like fresh milk in the fridge along with fruit and water. This is something the bigger/chain of hotels do not provide. We were very impressed. Also the fact that breakfast was served to you which I like and not a buffet breakfast. If ever I find my way to Esher again I would stay at The Bear and will recommend to my friends and family.

The location - it literally is within a 3 minute walk to Sandown Racecourse. The staff were all friendly enough. But i'm afraid that's it. Room was the size of a shoebox, broken bed, no ceiling/main light, mould/damp on the ceiling in the bathroom, skirting board black/mouldy, windows basically falling apart, air conditioning broken, food overpriced for what you get. Overall very overpriced - not impressed at all, don't be fooled by the cleverly taken photos! No courtesy call as was promised to us on check out after complaining and begrudgingly handing over our money.

Very friendly efficient staff. Free wifi. Excellent breakfast. Bottled water in fridge. Room 2 is very tired looking and could do with a freshen up in the paint department.
