Stayed in one of their rooms in the cottage over the road which was lovely and quiet .
Staff couldn't do enough on check in and dinner
Breakfast was a bit disappointing after our lovely dinner. But staff very attentive
We arrived quite late at The Bear but were able to order meals and drinks that were excellent and much appreciated. Our room was in the main building and was extremely comfortable and convenient. We had a sofa bed for our daughter and a double for us. Breakfast was very good and we were set up for our couple of days in the area.
Little fault to find tbh.
Very close to Clarks Shopping Village Can leave car and walk to Street Town and Shopping Village Good restaurant on site
The location is excellent - right in the town centre but calm, quiet and comfortable. The food is good - a varied and interesting menu and attention paid to presentation. Very helpful staff
There is very little to dislike about The Bear - the only minor irritation was the slow running cold water tap and the slow refill time for the toilet cistern.
Clean, tidy, nice room and location
Room comfortable and sizeable. Food in restaurant good as was breakfast. Car space a bonus.
Staff were friendly and helpful. Beer (Marstons Pedigree) was well kept.
Breakfast wasn't a great experience. Coffee as thin as dishwater and scrambled egg with a mushy texture (like shaving foam), out of a packet rather than made from real eggs!!
Staff were great all extremely helpful and polite the refurbishment made the place look much brighter. And the beer garden looks great.
The room was at the top of the house which meant it was very hot and we had to have the window open all night which meant we were subjected to external noise and had very poor sleep during our stay. The shower door leaked and made the bathroom floor treachorously slippy Disappointing menus in the restaurant, I felt more could have been made of the rotisserie.
The Hotel was comfotable and had a good Cafe/Bar. On booking I was told I had a room in the hotel with a 4 poster bed, but the member of staff new nothing of this. Although we were disapointed about this we were put in an annexe across the road the hotel facilities were close to hand and had adequate parking.
Only a minor thing, but as strangers to the area the hotel had no leaflets or information on places of interest to visit in the locality. I only found out that the Clark Shoes Museum was across the road because I asked a member of staff what the building was. Again we were disapointed at not having the room in the hotel as per booking.
Staff need to cross check and verify whether restaurant and/or bar bill was paid on the spot or tagged on to the room, and not just assume it'd be paid along with board.
Everything was superb, staff were very accommodating, our kettle did not work, so we told them and they replaced it immediately and we had 2 free coffee's. The food in the Bear Inn was absolutely lovely and breakfast was fulfilling and plentiful, room was spacious and had everything we could have needed for our 2 night stay. The four poster bed was amazing and very comfortable, and the cottage was beautiful. Towels were available and changed every day and we had free complimentary water and biscuits too.
The cleanliness to the eye was acceptable, but as i work in the leisure industry, i noticed that the bathroom could have been cleaner, behind the door and toilet in particular and they grouting of white tiles were grubby.
Good location, reasonably priced and very friendly staff, problems dealt with to our satisfaction.
The room seemed to be partly refurbished with some things still needing attention. The bed was too hard.
The staff were very helpful and friendly. The rooms were clean and tidy. Bit noises from the kitchen ducting but that went off at around 10pm and came on again around 6am. Other than that an excellent place to stay.
Noisey kitchen duct outlet.
Liked the place and decor along with the room
We enjoyed the meals we had in the evening and the breakfast gave a good choice. We both had a good nights sleep. The location is great especially good for shopping.
The staff we brilliant, friendly, helpful, accommodating and nothing was too much trouble. I liked the fact that cottages had been converted into rooms, and although down to road made it less noisy, but you still felt part of the inn.
The bed, for me, wasn't that comfortable, but that is a minor detail and does not detract from the great stay we had.
location, excellent food and very pleasant staff
Our room was across and down the road a bit from the main pub. And it had it's own parking lot away from the pub which was good. The room was a good size as was the bathroom. It's in a good position for visiting Bath with park and ride about 45min away.
The Bear Inn is a pleasant place, the restaurant is nice, it's not gourmet food by any stretch put decent enough, staff are friendly, rooms a little dated but this due to being old cottages, I think the normal rooms would be better, overall good stay & would go back & stay again
Everything , especially the location , Clarks shopping centre probably the best I have ever been to , and right on the doorstep, and I don't particularly like shopping ! ideal for the wife though.
Cant think of anything.
The staff were attentive.
Ordered mushrooms on toast for breakfast, received one mushroom and two pieces of toast. Actually very funny....... Being across the road from the hotel.
Good Beer, food and a comfortable room
Fantastic staff and food. Pub is modern and trendy. Clean and in a great position. Out door swimming pool next door and great shopping village over the road. Lovely garden with small play area. Family friendly. Family room was large and roomy.
Bedroom and bathroom could do with an update. Slow service at breakfast.
