Dating back to the 1600s, The Three Tuns is set overlooking Chepstow Castle. Retaining its charming original features, the inn offers traditional accommodation, homemade food and a pretty beer garden....

Room quality very poor.
The best thing about the hotel, along with the fantastically central location, is the pleasant, enthusiastic and thoughtful attitude of all its staff. From the cleaner who offered to move her car for us, to the receptionist who made us feel very welcome, and the restaurant/kitchen staff who went a little off-menu for us without batting an eye-lid, they couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful. We stayed with our 13 yr old son with communication difficulties, and it is rare for us to ever feel so accepted and at ease in a hotel. The Beaufort Hotel is not luxurious but very comfortable and clean and serves fantastic food - it is attractive without being pretentious, lacking the manicured sterility of most chain-hotels. It is homely without being overly-familiar, lively without being too loud - just a nice place to stay for a reasonable price. Good job! (K. York)
(There is a rather alarmingly wobbly bannister at the top of the stairs - it is an old building and maybe needs just a little more attention here and there)
Excellent location & function room, but our room was very tired and cleanliness was of poor standard. The beds were comfy enough. Cooked breakfast good, but tea in an urn was stewed!!
Fusty smelling room, not cleaned to a high standard. Tired decor & furnishings.
Bedding was clean. Lady that came to put the bed up was pleasant.
Poor reception staff, bathroom smelled strongly of urine, z bed collapsed on my son so that he had to take the mattress of the bed and put it on the floor. Absolutely no wifi having been promised we could receive it.
good location ,clean very quiet room everything you need for a stop over.
i thought the shower could do with updating
for a 2 star hotel the whole stay was very good.
Good location. Room old and basic but clean and comfy bed.
All OK for price paid. No bedsite light curtain of poor quality and let light in.
If i had wonted a full breakfast, however we did not!
Tea in a flask is not the way to serve tea. Tea pot with tea bags and fresh hot water! Continental Breakfast, means croissant's not toast! and fresh coffee, again not from a flask!
Food was ok waitresses needed a few more manners
No power in the shower and took 35mins to run the bath
Friendly welcome, clean, comfortable room, good food
Location, room size
No breakfast before 8.00 considering big running event required early start TV too small. Noisy wedding reception in hotel. Fireworks late at night
Damp smell in room, shower dribbled, lovely view of a wall from bedroom window. Over priced, especially as breakfast not included.
Good location in an attractive town. The bar/restaurant menu was good and the bar food I had one evening was enjoyable.
I booked a single room. It was 'isolated' at the top of the hotel near an office and maintenance rooms. It was not cheap for a room that was showing signs of neglect i.e. the toilet/bathroom handle was a large screw. The door lock was faulty and took some manoeuvring with the key to open. At breakfast on my second morning a couple of staff were having a discussion/argument in reception about rotas. Not good form in front of guests.
The location of the hotel was excellent, especially in relation to the castle. The hotel staff were lovely and the rooms were really clean.
The only problem we had was that due to the location we heard a lot of yongsters in the early hours of the morning shouting in a drunken way outside our window. As it was hot we had to have the window open as there was no other way of keeping cool in the room. I would suggest that it might be benificial to have a fan available.
The very first impression upon booking in at the reception area, the girl on duty just so un responsive, poor communication, nothing really pleasant coming from her, no greeting, took over a minute for her to even look up and acknowledge us, knowing fully well we had arrived with family, all of us stood there with a deathly silence, before she took our details, and then not even the most basic normal universal greeting. Very miserable.
Very Friendly staff and idealy situated.
I stayed in room 12 in which the bathroom needs to be refurbished. The shower control had obviously broken and just a washer to switch off water to shower
Central location Helpful staff
Noise (loud music) till after midnight on Saturday night Small room / poor quality furnishings / old-fashioned decor
Great location in the town
noise off main road very early
Friendly staff, food was really good, really relaxing stay
Lovely evening meal and plenty of choice at breakfast
Location, friendly pub atmosphere, good tasty breakfast, friendly helpful staff,
Poor parking facilities, our room was on the top floor too many stairs to climb, maybe it's our age, owing to the good weather windows left open so noisy at night
The fact that it was close to the location where I was visiting and diving.
The shower didn't work correctly in that I could not adjust the water temp, the TV did not work and the towels were ok for drying a small child.
