Breakfast, bed, pub....
Not really clean, noisey....
Staff very open and helpfull the hotel has a warm atmosphere.
plumbing the water cistern and pipes were very noisy. air in pipes it seems
Staff very helpful, friendly, well stocked bar , nice vibe to the place , location ideal centre of town with parking near by.
No problems it is what it is
The predominantly young staff were very pleasant and helpful and what they lacked in experience they made up for by their enthusiasm. It was situated perfectly for all the business we had to conduct.
Central location. Plenty of space in the car park.
Don't go for the single room - you'd have more room if you slept in your car! No wifi in my room either - which was the main reason I chose this hotel over others.
No hot water or heating in room and the room smelt really bad of damp.
lovely room clean, tidy, homely. bed was very comfortable. bathroom was spotlessly clean.
some staff didn't have a clue. couldn't find my booking when rang to confirm arrival. First staff forgot to charge me for room and then tried to charge me twice.
Room old fashioned, dark, not particularly clean and boiling hot as central heating pipes ran through it. Large party of builders stayed at the same time and partied until 4 in the morning so we got little sleep which meant we were tired for the rest of our weekend away which was to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. We got blocked in several times in the parking area at the rear which was jam packed with builders vans and staff cars etc. Apologies were made by the receptionist on explaining how bad our stay was but we still had to pay the full price.
Evening meal was nice, service was good, staff pleasant.
NO hot water in our room. Mattress on bed uncomfortable. Room very small x2 Dark Hairs in breakfast Unadvised of party/function going n in room below our room.
staff friendly. Hotel needs upgrading however it was good value. Stayed for Halloween night with my mates. Had a great night out in the local pubs then returned to the hotel. I will be returning. Excellent location and nice stay overall
Hotel dated but i gave it a nice character to be honest. And for the money it was worth the stay !!
I liked the location and the staff were very friendly
The room was very small and not as advertised. The bathroom was tiny and the sink was in the room.
Proximity to the race course Lunch in the restaurant was lovely lively bar but not too noisy
Bar staff were excellent and very friendly. Food was top notch.
Reception service was a little slow during check in. Had to wait quite a while for someone to come and attend to us.
The hotel was clean and comfortable with a spacious, tastefully decorated room. Location was excellent.
Everything was good but the food tended to be a little expensive.
Staff generally helpful Hotel history interesting.
Location difficult to find by car as front entrance on pedestrian street.
Our room was clean and airy with a comfy bed, tea and coffee and biscuits.Good value. We were greeted by Chantelle who was very helpful, pleasant and charming during our stay.We had a meal in the restaurant in the evening which was well presented and well cooked. Rick our waiter could not do enough for us. Try the Sunday lunch its exellent. We would definitely stay here again at this hotel.
the staff were excellent and very friendly
Rooms are dated and poorly equipped. Very noisy from both outside and inside the hotel. TV only worked when it wanted to.
Location, food, cleanliness
Staff tried to rectify problems after being asked a couple of times
There was (what looked like) blood on the curtains Cold shower and only 1 towel. Event downstairs- room shaking with noise level. We were given no prior notice of this (we have a 1 year old) Very hot room (couldn't open window owing to noise)
Price was ok
Poor cleanliness Poor staff as mobile phone was more important than customers.
Room as expected but bathroom very small.
No parking available for guests if arrive late. Requested room on lower floor but given a room up 2 flights of stairs. Male staff member joked about it and did not offer to help with luggage. No information or town map available.
This was my second visit to the hotel. Previously I was alone and had a single room. The location is ideal and I would be happy to stay in the hotel again should I find myself in Chepstow. But in a different room! The staff were both friendly and efficient and the food was excellent with very good value for money.
The satnav directed me to the front door where is no parking and at the start of a pedestrian precinct. I would have been better to publicise the fact that the car park (although restricted to about ten cars) with a rear entrance to the hotel is in Nelson Street. I asked for a room on the ground floor and the room which we were given was accessed from the car park but because of the vehicle and patron movements meant that the window had to be kept close for noise reduction. The window frame was shoddy inside the room and the room was damp. Not ideal.
Room quality very poor.
Room small, stuffy and bed uncomfortable. I would have moved hotels but found others in the area fully booked.
