Comfortable room and excellent (but expensive) food.
First impression on checking in not good as bar was noisy. Some noise from late night revellers
We were at the Bell for a family 25th wedding anniversary party. The whole day and night was excellent. I've never had a tree growing in the bedroom. Brilliant.
The quirky nature, polite, helpful staff. Good food
A little noisy at night as the rooms sit above the pub/restaurant
Absolutely brilliant. Lovely place, great food, good wine list.
Just 1 thing - the room was very hot so it made it difficult to sleep
Great food, good atmosphere, interesting room
As bathroom overlooked the road at the front, the heavy curtains had to be drawn for privacy, this also applies to the bedroom.
Everything! Distinct, charming individuality in so many respects. LOTS of 'nice' little touches and extras that say 'we care, we are making an effort to make your stay memorable'... it was! Delicious food, lovely pub atmosphere, delightful bedrooms, friendly, happy staff. A REALLY special place to stay, can't wait to return.
Busy road, especially daytime, right outside, but did NOT affect our stay or sleep, or the quality of the whole experience.
Happy smiling service
Restaurant food and service very good. Breakfast service slow, inefficient and over 'breezy' for the time of day.
An absolute triumph of 'design' over 'practicality' in the room and and extremely 'quirky' features and advertising - such as a birch tree growing in your room and the impossibility of taking a shower without flooding the room.
Lovely room, good breakfast, very good staff.
We both loved the quirkiness of the rooms and the design. The service was brilliant and the food was very tasty. I would defiantly recommend to a friend.
I though the bottle of prosecco was a little over priced but that is all.
God food, very comfortable bed.
Noisy, being in a room above the bar area.
staff service was superb, decor was unique and fun, beer was best ever, and the evening dinner using great local source and love was fantastic. We shall return. You MUST stay here, it puts others in the shade.
We had a wonderful stay at the Bell in. I would struggle to find anything bad to say. The room was beautiful, the staff wonderful and the food incredible!
Nothing! Apart from that our visit was too brief and we didn't want to leave.
Lovely place, staff and food
Noisy main road, had a room directly over the pub which was also noisy
We found the meat (lamb and pork) rather tough, in contrast to the rest of the food , which was excellent.
Excellent food, friendly and helpful staff.
very noisy on a Friday night if weather is good and everyone outside!
Very unique and quirky. Staff were great - fiendly and efficient. Great ambience and the food was absolutely first class.
We loved how quirky The Bell was, staff were friendly and helpful. Room was amazing, great bathroom.
Thought the Sunday Lunch was pricey, starters £6-£9 and small. £16 for roast beef was expensive, when compared to the rest of the menu which was reasonably priced.
loved our stay room and staff was great my wife said it was the best vegetarian meal she has eaten in 20 years
The Bell double booked us and never bothered to reply to a number of my emails or phone calls
Luxury bed Decor Pub
External traffic noise - bedroom The food is very expensive and the quality was only ok. I had the beef ribs and had to return it because the meat was too tough to cut. The sponge of our pudding was also crunchy. I accept things go wrong but the poor quality of my meal ruined our anniversary celebration . However my wifes fish was superb. We were initially offered a refund on the meal I returned. After some negotiation the cost of the bottle of wine was refunded. We felt that we should not have had to publicly had to negotiate this. Our night away had been blighted by the return of a meal.
Atmosphere, food & beer
Lack of central heating in the room - staff provided electric fires Problem with laundry (their bath towels) which we reported
Second time at The Bell, Just as last time, fantastic service and enthusiastic staff, we liked it so much, we bought our friends this time.
There were some problems with food but most of it was put right.
The hotel is very stylish and comfortable. We had a large room and very nice bathroom and the decor of our room, the bar and restaurant are quirky and fun. The breakfast room is not so well planned-it is awkward to get your food from buffet to table.
Beware the small serves of food in the restaurant-my husband's main course was ludicrously tiny. On the morning of departure we informed the hostess we were heading to the airport but the food was too slow in coming, even though we were the only people in the breakfast room.
