Good,
Score from 188 reviews
“ The room was very big with a huge bed, lots of space, a sofa and a table plus a dressing table and wardrobe. Everything worked. There was plenty of tea and coffee. The courtyard was big with plenty of tables and chairs. The garden was a lovely space to sit in the evening sun. Breakfast was well cooked, well served and very tasty. ”

Small family run Inn, centrally located, and good value for money. Not the height of luxury, but much improved since the owner (Chris Horne) has taken over the management from the previous managers. Staff were ready to help, and booking a groundfloor room was done with ease. We unfortunately booked two nights, the first of which was during Stowe horse fair, and all the local pubs were closed because of trouble on previous night with the visiting gypsies, so there was nowhere within walking distance to go for a drink. But the landlord bought us a drink on the second night to apologise, which was very nice.

We loved The Bell Inn. Our room was great - it was old stone and quite atmospheric...not a bland hotel. Bathroom was nice, clean. This Inn was the inspiration for The Prancing Pony in Lord Of The Rings and it doesn't disappoint if you are a fan. We had a few drinks in the pub too - lovely. And they had on a great female singer the evening we stayed.

Our room was in a converted outbuilding. It was warm comfortable, although both beds made a lot of noise when you moved and well provided with tea and coffee. There was a nice en suite bathroom with a full size bath The meals were good. I would be happy to stay at this inn again. There is no on sight parking. If you are staying on a Monday night you have to wait until early evening to find unrestricted free on street parking because market stalls are contructed from around 5pm for the Tuesday street market in the main street car park. The court yard adjacent to our room could do with a bit of a tidy up.

The cottage was well-appointed for a short stay. Quirky, comfortable, un-fussy, not chintzy, warm and had plenty of room for 4. Nothing.

Unusual accommodated - converted shop next door to the pub. Kitchen and bathroom on ground floor, double bedroom and sitting room on first floor, and small twin bedroom in loft accessible via very steep steps. Nice breakfast Room would benefit from cleaning. Coffee and tea making facilities but cups hadn't been washed. Old toothbrush wrapper discarded on the window-ledge. Proprietor wasn't sure why the heating wasn't working - and it was very cold and snowing.More attention to detail recommended

Within easy reach of Bourton-on-the-water and Stow. Bookings should NOT be made for Mondays at The Bell Inn. They don't open until 6 p.m. and have no chef on ! The stables where we stayed were draughty and noisy, though when asked the owner did provide an extra heater.

Comfortable bed Bedroom absolutely freezing. Terrible draught from windows. One heater did not work and central heating not turned on until 8am despite temperatures of minus 6 outside! Had to go to another nearby hotel to get warm!

Authentic cottage accommodation- we only wanted a room and this was a 2 bed cottage with living room and kitchen so much more than we needed! Excellent sheets and plenty of hot water Too cold to have a shower as no heating in bathroom. Although we did not request a kitchen it does need up-dating

It fitted my needs, which was location. It was clean and comfortable. I left too early for breakfast so it would have been nice to have had a room only rate.

Very charming, rustic, traditional with a very English ambience. No pretentious decor but fab. They have kept the character of the place, infinitely preferable to so many hotels I've stayed in. We are staying again next month. Breakfast ended at 9.30, would prefer a bit later but that's ok.

Staff were very welcoming & helpful. After a late return @ the Bell Inn in the night , we had a knock @1000 am to see if We still want breakfast ( served till 1000 am) It was much appreciated as otherwise We would have missed it. Staff were all very friendly & welcoming. The Room was cosy & clean & plenty of electric heater to keep the room warm as it is an old style "cottagy" room. Loads of character. On the negative side, The shower was useless. It was just a trickle.

Lovely part of the country, lovely old inn building, rooms have original timber features and rooms are big. Free parking over night. Biggest market in the area on Tuesday's ! Room was nice and warm even in the recent snow we had Jan 2013. Out of season just be aware that if your on business and need to be away early breakfast doesn't normally start until 08.30. !, this may not be a problem for many visitor's and shouldn't detract from what was a lovely 2 night stay. Also internet and phone signals can be limited although though the landlord is in the process of updating this very soon.
