Going home Staff weren't that bothered about customers (apart from the poor guy doing the breakfasts - serving and cooking! No wonder mine was burnt!). Décor very shabby. Room very shabby and broken fittings. Bathroom mouldy, dated, drab and cold. Couldn't turn off heating in room which was actually a good thing as the window wouldn't close properly (and it was cracked). It was also too expensive. When I went to reception on the 2nd day at 7am, the entire ground floor was deserted and all lights were out, so I nearly broke my neck trying to leave. The place has a general bad smell, probably dating back to the days when it was a pub - it still have the nicotine stained walls to prove it. A total rip off in terms of price when you can get a great room at the riverside down the road for only £5 more.

The location was ideal as I attened a function in Mildenhall. The room was clean with everthing I needed. Breakfast was good although 30 mins later then stated in room. The noise from outside the rooms from the bar customers and the late night disco.

Very nice staff. Good breakfast. Room could do with a bit of a re-furbishment. Still we thought it was quite good value.

Unfortunately there was not anything that I could say I liked about the Bell Hotel. The pictures on the website are a gross misrepresentation of the hotel. On arrival the hotel is very old, dark and dingy and there is a funny smell. The furniture and carpets in the reception area are so old and dirty I would suggest they are removed and replaced with new ones as too dirty to clean. The stairs to the rooms were again dark and dingy and there were cobwebs in the corners. The room was a decent size and clean on the surface but skirting boards, radiators and the Walls were all dirty with stains. The bathroom again looked clean on the surface but it was cold and when we removed the bath mat form the towel rail it was covering what appeared to be dried blood on the wall. Obviously we did not use the bath for fear of catching something The sheets on the bed seemed to be the cleanest thing in the room but by this point we did not want to risk it so we slept fully clothed on top of the bed. I know this sounds extreme but you had to experience it to fully understand!! If I said Fawlty Towers that may explain..... As breakfast was included in our rate we decided we should try it as we had a long drive home and we had barely had any sleep due to the noise coming from the bar area and the fact we were just so uncomfortable!! The tables in the restaurant were sticky and the waiter who was also the receptionist and the hotel manager took our order. His shirt was dirty as it would seem some oil had splashed over him but clearly he was a one man band so didn't have time to change. Surprisingly breakfast was fine but once again the environment left you feeling like you just needed a good wash, which clearly we needed as we wasn't brave enough to use the bathroom facilities. When we checked out it was a big relief that we were finally getting out of there and thank god it was only one night.... Not the feeling you should have when leaving a paid establishment!!!!

Near to wedding venue we were attending. Had a restaurant that 8 of us ate in, & all had different & was very pleased with food. Anything we needed in hotel we got. Recent reviews all mention the cleansiness, So I think the owners should take note & check after cleaning has been done. It does seem to be an issue at this hotel. Its mentioned a lot. On entering the rooms look okay, but on inspection the bathroom especially, was still dusty & shelves hadn't been wiped down or hoovered out in corners. Dirt & hairs on floor were found, they dont seem to check all the corners & behind bins etc. Drawers were dusty. A proper full clean should be done all around the toilet system, after every guest leaves. We did have outside noise late Fri & Sat, but it is in a high st !! Our matress was very lumpy...def need new!!!

The room was filthy dirty, only 1 lightbulb out of 5, bathrrom so old and dated, plug broken, mould and brown around bath, pipes and mirror caked in heavy dust, bed was soooo lumpy and uncomfortable, sheets were clean but the bed quilt set so so old, and nothing matched. Needed total overhaul, clearly nothing dome since at least the 80's....it was to get our heads down after Newmarket concert......only stayed 1 night and that was too much. Very loud music played in bar till 12.45pm no mention of a pub when booking. Very bad indeed, left early and did not stay for breakfast.

The management and staff were very friendly, very efficient and wanted to make sure that we had as pleasant a stay as possible. They were very proactive in their approach in a warm and welcoming way. The rooms were very clean and the bed was very comfortable. My crew were very happy with the hotel and thought that the management and staff were the most likeable and friendly people we met on our entire trip. The food was very good, we all enjoyed eating in the hotel. If anything they just need to tidy things up a little bit. The stairs and hallways need to be refreshed so that they come up to the standard of the rooms. On arrival it gives a detrimental impression of the hotel which is soon allayed once you see how clean and fresh your room is.

The manager at the Bell Hotel was super accommodating. He was the only person able to help us with anything and seemed to do every job in the hotel. We needed an early breakfast due to an early start at a Snetterton track day, which he was more than happy to provide for us. The bar and reception area at the hotel were lovely, but the accommodation let the hotel down. It all appears rather run down and will need a massive overhaul to keep up with competition. We had a room on the main road and it sounded like our windows were open when not. I didn't have a shower.

The bed linen was very clean and fresh. The full english breakfast was good and ample. The waiting staff were friendly and efficient. The whole hotel is a bit shabby both in and out - needs a make-over. Although as commented above the waiting staff were firiendly but the management level seemed as if they had no need to speak to residents. The beds were not made up to a high standard and on entering bedrooms you need to see perfection not a bed that has a quilt put on anyhow and a valance hanging everyway but straight. No towels in bedroom No. 15. and lock on door needs to be sorted.

If you like excessively loud disco's taking place directly under your room you will love this hotel. The breakfasts and the dinner were fine. The staff were friendly and helpful. I could describe the rooms as tierd but adequate.

Das Personal war sehr freundlich und und zuvorkommend, das Frühstück sehr reichhaltig und sehr gut. Betten waren in Ordnung.

Sunday breakfast The decoration in the corridors leading to the bedrooms are old fashioned and jaded and the paintwork leaves much to be desired. The room we stayed in was not clean (carpet stained, bathroom tiles had mildew, dirty tea bag on the carpet when we arrived and the windows were painted in such a poor state, it was laughable). The "ledge" outside our window was littered with previous occupants litter. Everything was mismatched (blue bedding, green headboard, brown cushions, white furniture and a brown table stuck in there for some reason). Also there is a vast dressing table with no stool and the bedside lamps should carry a health & safety warning - they are way too hot. One bedside table had the drawer glued shut. Also I didn't like the fact that no-one was at reception and no notice telling you where to find someone.

It was just down the road from where the wedding was that we attended, saving us 1hr 40min drive home late at night Hotel had many 'original features' Linen and towels were clean & fresh, bath/shower gel in bathroom Tea/coffee facilities in room. Breakfast room looked 'new' and was lovely, really enjoyed our breakfast - cereal, fresh fruit, juice tea/coffee and choice of cooked breakfast items from the menu. Our 2 and a half year old enjoyed choosing her cereal then going up for yoghurt and toast! Had its own car park behind hotel. The view of a roof out of our window! Our room needed a lick of paint expected a 'nicer looking' room for the money but we only needed a bed for the night do was ideal
