The value for money and attention to detail in the rooms was great - biscuits and bath stuff. Food especially breakfast was very good. I liked the quirky design and mix of furnishings.

Staff very friendly and polite, very clean, good location. Furniture seemed very dated - perhaps retro - but didn't really suit the building.

Very central in town, attentive and helpful staff, good evening meal in pretty restaurant, good strong coffee, lovely homemade cakes and biscuits. No one told us that it was market day and bin day the next morning (Weds) so we were woken far too early. As the hotel wasn't full, we should have been offered a room on the opposite side to the market!

The service was courteous, friendly and efficient. I got the impression that everyone worked as a team. The hotel has an excellent restaurant with a menu that uses local produce as far as possible. That is important to me as it means it is carbon-friendly, helps the local economy and is in every way delicious. In my room I could hear some vibration from elsewhere, such as a pump or boiler. It was not too intrusive and did not spoil my stay, but it would have been nicer not to have it. It went off at night and did not interfere with my sleep.

food excellent staff very good bar area clean and comfortable staff very friendly room although clean we felt that the room needed a few repair jobs to bring it up to standard. we felt that the room was reserved for a "Cut price deal) no hair drier as advertised dirty tea cups(We prefered not to use them) room gave us the impression it was a little tire

It suited our requirements perfectly at a reasonable cost, the staff were very friendly . A quiet little backwater off the traditional tourist route but within easy reach of both inland and coastal places of interest. The menu was a little restricted for our taste. The real ale, mentioned in the hotels write up was not available on our two nights there. having to use a public carpark was not ideal, had to put a ticket on the car before 8am each morning.

Comfortable, relaxed atmosphere. The village is a bit run down apart from the new supermarkets. Otherwise it is a good location to visit the coast.

Just really nice - bar, library and restaurant. Staff friendly and food was excellent (breakfast and evening meal - for a small hotel quite impressive). Cosy bar and friendly bar staff. Good location for trips to Southwold and Aldeburgh and presumably a host of other places including Ipwsich if you fancy the city for a day. Room very adequate. Would go back (also accommodated an early checking in request - brill!) Nothing negative springs to mind - I could say a less squeaky floor in our room or a better view from our window - otherwise all really good.

A very friendly welcome and delicious dinner on the first night of my 2 night stay. Lovely breakfast. Handy for Aldeburgh Festival visitors who have their own transport. I couldn't get anything to eat on the Saturday evening on my return from a long day festival-going! Not even a sandwich in the bar was on offer. A poor show given the price of the room.

The decor was lovely, the room very comfortable and had everything I needed. The manager was extremely friendly and helpful and it was an excellent stay, I loved it. The water pressure was quite low, maybe because I had a top floor room, an the shower was luke warm.

The hotel was easy to find and very centrally located.Breakfast was very good. The TV worked and had a wide freeview channel choice The room itself was very basic and sparsely and cheaply furnished with an MDF desk and wardrobe. The bathroom was also very basic with a very noisy powershower. None of this would have been a problem in a reasonably priced hotel, but we paid £175 for a double room for one night. We stay in lots of hotels around the country and this is simply overpriced.

Romantika ala 19 storocie......vybavenie hotela ako u bohatej tety na anglickom vidieku alebo v malom mestecku. Vsetko vyzera velmi prirodzenie...ako doma....nie ako v hoteli. Cena trocha prilis vysoka....vsetko prirodzenie vrza....podlaha, skrina....iba macka chyba...

Room (No 6) was a good size with a comfortable bed and views over the main street in Saxmundham. The collection of books in the room - local guides, history, a few popular novels, etc. - was a nice touch. The dining room for breakfast was very pleasant and the food was quite nice. The staff were polite and helpful. Booked a room for one person at £65 per night, but was told at check-in that the booking was for two and I would have to pay £75 per night, even though it was obvious I was travelling by myself. The upstairs rooms in the hotel seemed to be uncomfortably hot, almost as if there was heating on. This wasn't helped by the fact that one of the windows in my room (with a cracked pane) wouldn't open. There was a problem with the plumbing in the bathroom - when one of the neighbouring rooms emptied the bath, the water came out through the plug hole in the bath in my room. The parking, although advertised as free, is actually in a pay-and-display public car park about 300m from the hotel. The hotel will refund the parking charges at check-out.

Location. Interior. Breakfast. Unfortunately there was a fire while I was at a wedding and when I got back to my room it reeked of smoke. This wasn't the staff's fault, but it made for getting sleep rather difficult!
