Staff very helpful and friendly and food good. Generally clean and tidy and well presented. The Bell would benefit from a little TLC- paintwork in the corridors need touching up. Shower curtain discoloured. Stain on ceiling in one of the rooms we used.

i am a big fan of dad's army and my visit was purely to visit the museum and to be where it was filmed and to know that the hotel had conecn.tions was the icing on the cake and i will recommend it to any other fans i know It was a bit noisy as a lot of young people congregated just outside our window.

The booking was made by family member for the couple staying - using booking.com - but on arrival the hotel could not access the details and the couple themselves ended up paying - this was not good enough as card details had been given on the booking system for payment. Booking .com did reply to my complaint and addressed this with the hotel who apparently have not got the correct computer package to do this.

Period feaures, cosy but not enough history to look at and read about the place. It would have made it a more interesting place if such material had been added around the hotel. Food was very good as was the location. Room was in keeping with the period of the building, nice size and a great sized bathroon. Very clean and comfortable. I 'm afraid we would probably not stay again due to the area surrounding the hotel. Groups of men seemed to be hanging about in closed shop doorways, which seemed very odd and un- settling. The groups of people went past shouting and screaming late at night, was distrubing to say the least. We have stayed in many hotels and never experienced this before not even in large towns. So while it is not the hotels fault it was this that has affected our decision not to return.

The staff were on the whole helpfull, The menu while limited, the food was good except for sunday roasts. The hotel in general is in need of up dating, as it looks "tired"and the fixtures and fittings replacing, some of the beds are uncomfortable, there is a lack of electrical sockets in the rooms.

Friendly staff, clean ,caters for people travelling alone. Good value. The hotel is a bit tired and the rooms need minor refurbishment but I understand that times are tough for all businesses and this will happen when the economy improves.

Easy to find, just off the a134. Superb looking building. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We had one of the superior double-rooms and the room was clean and well presented. Nice food in the restaurant with a good selection of ales and other drinks to satisfy most tastes.

Mostly it was an excellent Inn. Good Food, location. Room was of good size and very comfortable. I will be using this hotel for my annual trip to the area. Stayed on a Friday night and it was noisey especially outside. My room did not have double glazing so the noise was an issue. People staying at the Inn should be warned there is often music playing until ? although this was not massively intrusive as my room was on the 2nd floor. There were signs of water leaks or large damp areas in many parts of the room ceiling which could do with tidying up. Having said the above it is still a pleasant place to stay

The Bell was near to the Train station and the conference that we were attending. The bell was a very cosy hotel. The hot water was cold when we arrived so we could not have a shower after travelling 5 hours and before we attended the evening net working dinner at 7pm. The following day the water was hot, however we were late for our conference because we had to wait 40 minutes for our breakfast and coffee to be served.

I found the staff very hospitable, helpful and friendly. My room 106 was very comfortable, but in the past I have stayed in the old part of the Bell which I prefer. Unfortunately on the Sat night after the local club closed there was mayhem outside. Noisy drunken thugs fighting and screaming which was very disturbing and resulting in sleep deprivation. Of course this complaint is not the fault of the Bell Inn but has made me aware if I was thinking of staying there again.

I like the location, the history, the fact that we were upgraded to the Authur Lowe suite, the beautiful interior......fantastic!! I didn't lke slot-machines in the bar. I didn't like how the busy watiress emptied the flask of coffee, dregs and all onto my saucer and in my cup. She didn't react......so I took a clean saucer from the nearby table.

Closeness to family in Brandon--first impressions of the Inn-- this could not be true. Our assumptions were not what was in front of us..Rooms were a1 and very quiet at the River end... Food was first class [when it came!!!} We were very surprised.and will recommend the Bell to whoever asks.. [We were there because of a family bereavement and it would have been impossible to complete in one day] One Failing was our evening meal==we tried to order the special menu offer of two main roasts only to find that there was no roasts left for those in the bars. And the fact that there is no lift at the Inn,which did cause a little difficulty as my wife has an illness with her breathing
