Easy to find.
Lack of a Telly and the feeling that we were sleeping in the owners room. A lot of clutter and an irritating demand for name and address. Suspect it is something to do with these reviews. Ill the day after, may have nothing to do with the accommodation or breakfast which seemed fine.
intelligent welcoming host
tight narrow twisty staircase
Middle of Kington Good recommendations about finding an evening meal Comfortable Great breakfast
small room for two of us - Ok for our needs on a walking trip
Full of character. Excellent host.
Far too small
It was a calm atmosphere. Hospitality was great. The Bench Mark a small cottage left a positive impression. And loved the organic produce.
Parking may be an issue for some people, as you have to park down the road and walk to the cottage, but its not a big problem and you can drop of luggage at the cottage before going to park.
We had a lovely few nights at the Benchmark, Adam was a great host. Breakfast was the best we have had, the sausages were amazing!!!!!. home made muesli and marmalade were beautiful. the rooms were spotless. bed was comfortable. no negatives about the bench mark... maybe one i didn't see Bennie the cat much :). we will be seeing you again thank you from two very happy guests
The Benchmark is not only a splendid place to rest and sleep but also makes one feel at home. This is largely due to the the good spirits who run the BnB and also craft magnificient things (which make a nice gifts). The rooms themselves are cozy and everything is as tidy and neat as one could wish. The breakfast is made from locally sourced ingredients and one can choose between a good British breakfast or opt for the continental approach. Great experience.
excellent breakfast, very enjoyable stay,
Beds were incredibly comfortable. Best sleep I have had in ages. Close to offas dyke walk so no car needed for that. Made very welcome
Location was perfect for me, breakfast was nice and host very friendly. Good value for money
Everything, lovely welcome, clean and comfortable room and very good breakfast.
The really comfortable bedding The breakfast The alternative non-caffeine options
Clutter in hall.... But all very interesting!
We liked the collection of textiles, books and knick-knacks.
We shared a bathroom.
Great host, comfortable bed with cotton bedding and a lovely freshly cooked breakfast. TV free zone was just what I needed too.
Everything - the warm welcome, the house itself, the breakfast, the friendliness and helpfulness. Of the 4 B&Bs where we stayed last week, this was our favourite.
our host made us very welcome and we felt very comfortable particularly like being television free
no complaints at all
Adam is a very lovely host who was helpful and kind. We were there for a friend's wedding and were made to feel very welcome. The B&B is a cosy little house, full of organic and local food for the included breakfast. The beds are comfy and we would definitely stay again.
The house was easy to find. Adam was a very friendly and welcoming host who immediately made us a cup of tea on arrival which we drank in the garden. He had the knack of being friendly and approachable but also letting us get on with our own thing - it was our choice. The bedroom was very comfortable. Contrary to one review on here, there were locks on the bedroom doors, though I didn't feel we needed to use ours. The bed linen was really crisp and fresh; it felt like a bed in a 5* hotel. The bathroom was immaculately clean. The cooked breakfast was fantastic too. All round, it was excellent value. Adam was also helpful with making recommendations of E.G. where to eat, how best to drive on to our next destination.
Small room Limited space for clothes & suitcases
Friendly, homely B&B, with an amazing yet eclectic host, who made us feel welcome in his home. The rooms were easily adequate, if not perfect for their use (sleeping in!), and the bed was dreamy. The bed linen too was of a high quality, much higher than what we use at home! Adam's hobbies and history of crafting was engaging and interesting, and he was more than happy to share on this, which is unique in the hotel and B&B world, normally the hosts try to be faceless, and do not intermingle with guests. Adam went out of his way to accommodate any needs or requirements, and our discussion on the final day was when we could come back again!
Green, eco-friendly principles. Locally sourced/organic food. Host extremely helpful. Especially good for anyone on a special diet. (I eat neither wheat nor dairy produce and Adam catered to my needs excellently.) A quirky place of rest - no TV, not ensuite - so very different to other offerings. You eat in the room that Adam uses at other times for his weaving work and are surrounded by beautiful wools and woven scarves. Unique!
I was worried at first about it not being ensuite but Adam is so discrete and manages the arrangements so well that this turned out not to be a problem.
Adam was very friendly and welcoming, and we had a delicious locally sourced cooked breakfast. The Benchmark B&B has loads of character, would definitely stay again!
Courtesy, friendliness, professionalism, local and natural products.
