Roll top bath!
Bar shut as midnight
Staff were very friendly and helpful, comfortable room and good location
Breakfast was excellent during the week, but the sunday buffet breakfast was dreadful, bacon almost raw and fatty, sausages like rubber, tomatoes raw and cold in the middle, very disappointed!!! Also the shower in room 1 was not very hot, and you should swap the trouser press for a larger television!!!!!
Friendliness of staff, cosy atmosphere.
Warm, cosy rooms with free wifi, water, hot drink selection and biscuits. Staff and restaurant were nice, beer selection was good and well kept. Will certainly look to stay again if in the area.
Single bed was just big enough but was comfortable, some of the meal prices were, we felt, a little expensive - but the food was good.
My party and I really enjoyed our stay at The Bird in Hand.the meals and breakfast were excellent.!! The rooms were well set up and the bathroom superb. The staff were ALL friendly and extremely helpful. If we were in the area we would definitely stay again. Thank you all.
I honestly can't think of anything we didn't like.
The staff, the room, the food and the location. You have really great staff, they are a great asset for your hotel. Thank you!
We did find the bed softer than we like and the WiFi was a little intermittent. But neither of these small points spoilt our stay.
Very friendly staff, comfortable room, excellent location, and a building with history. Very good evening meal choice, and excellently cooked. As other reviews have commented, the breakfast is also well presented with good choices.
Difficult to find anything to complain about, but if I am being really really picky, a few more tea bags in the room would have been nice.
Some lovely places to visit in the area.
Family room too hot needs air conditioning
Extremely friendly staff Comfortable / great size room Delicious homemade food
Superb location, minutes from the M4/M40 and a traditional English pub.
The staff - unmotivated, indifferent and seemingly disinterested. Meal taken in bar unusually poor for this pub - but the staff weren't really interested and nothing was done the remedy it. At breakfast, the duty waitress was more interested in making new bar signs than delivering the toast .... then a cleaner started a vacuum cleaner up next to where we were eating. We just gave up and left.
Room. Clean and warm. Comfortable bed. Friendly Aussie staff.
Not over impressed with food. Fresh but bland. Tasteless undercooked chips. Breakfast was also lacking in flavour, including eggs, but rest lukewarm.
Food was great Good choice
Good slightly dear
The room was very comfortable, nice layout and styled. Lots of tea, coffee etc. The bar was cute too with its fire place.
We wish we had a bath in our room but hey ho. Food prices were a little expensive. Another guest staying too felt it was appropriate to keep giving me and my partner dirty looks - not the hotels fault but it's a shame this person isn't living in 2014 were same sex couples are like every other folk. This hasn't put me off from going back thou.
Handy to Heathrow. Food and drink easily availble in the bar / restaurant.
Bedside lights not bright enough to read by and TV screen very small in our room.
This will go on my list of favourite places to stay. the room was excellent despite having an extra bed and cot in the room, the room was spotless the beds very comfortable, on our first evening the room got quite warm I contacted reception and within two minutes we were given a large fan that was whisper quit so we were able to keep it on all night, the little touches like the free bottled water and biscuits to enjoy with your large choice of hot drinks just added to the stay. Breakfast was amazing with a vast choice of very tasty and well cooked items as well as a choice of cereals toast and excellent coffee, and the breakfast waiter was extremely efficient . the outside seating are was very nice with an array of various birds and the occasional squirrel visiting the water feature, I just could not find anything negative about this marvelous hotel .
I think that sometimes when people give a hotel such a good review they feel that they have to find a negative no matter how small, no matter how hard I try I could find absolutely nothing negative to say about the Bird In The Hand.
Room was lovely and clean with plenty of tea and coffee supplied and refilled
Booked a executive double room with a kingsize bed but what we got was a executive twin room with the beds pushed together even the seperate bedding was in the wardrobe
The staff were very welcoming and friendly. The room was very clean, bed very comfortable and the bathroom was very clean. Breakfast was very good.
There was nothing that I didn't like?
Very welcoming and friendly staff. Good quality, quiet room, delightful bar and restaurant.
Situated on a very busy road so no quiet walks.
Water and biscuits in the room and comfortable pillows
Toast being supplied before I had even had my cornflakes so it was cold by the time I had my cooked breakfast. everything else was good.
We used a tom tom to locate the road but needed an address to locate the property. This is essential to find a property on a long road.
Ideal location for where we wanted to visit. Room was very comfortable, clean and spacious.
Some of the food could be better. First night we had evening meal which was lovely but the meal on the third night was not as good and not value for money. Breakfast was great the first day, the second day it was overcooked and looked like the day before heated up. Third day was a little better.
the hotel was fine - if you were visiting Twyford.
The fact that when I booked it said this hotel was in Reading and it was actually a good 30 drive away. I would never have booked it so far from the town. It is not Reading at all. The address is Twyford not Reading. It put a good hour on our journey
Reasonable priced food and good house wine at a sensible price
Great staff and good service
