They called us to check in while we were walking around Canterbury. We did not appreciate having to change our plans just to get the keys... But what really disappointed us was that our room was facing the street (no balcony, which our offer was supposed to include), which meant we could hear everyone that walked past the building. Furthermore, when someone entered the building, the corridor light shone into our room! Considering the curtains did not cover the window completely, we got street-lamp light at night and sun in the morning! We paid the discounted price of £65, but the full £120 would've been way too much for this tiny room.
The breakfast is great! In most places "continental breakfast" means coffee/tea and toast, which means you have to set the alarm clock if you want to make it to the dining room. Luckily the Black Horse's breakfast goes from 8-10 am which is great, and includes eggs, cereal, tea, toast and croissants/muffins. So it helped made up for the noisy room we got.
