the bells early morning 6am
Good welcome when we arrived. Room clean and spacious good value for money. We only booked it the night before we stayed didn't know what to expect but well pleased. Meals were good and good value.
Can't think of anything st present Would book there again heron passing through
staff where great, big room nice bathroom.
room decor was a bit tired paper peeling but not enough to worry about if staying only a day or two
The staff were pleasant and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable although dated. The bar had good beer and food. So for a one night stop-over on a quiet Sunday night for work the next day it was fine (and very competitively priced).
The carpets are dated and grubby. As was the corridor leading to the rooms. This lets it down but my room was clean and tidy and partially updated. I've stayed in worse in London for 4x the price.
Location. Ideal for nostalgic ex students.
No late bar for residents!
Lampeter was interesting but quiet. The pubs were ordinary rather than characterful and the restaurants were unenticing. The red kites over the roof tops gave the place a "wow" factor. The Black Lion's menu was very good and both our evening meal and breakfast were enjoyable and ample. The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel, with its labyrinthine staircases, gave it a quirky feel. Overall, we enjoyed our night there. was
We chose the Black Lion, partly, because it is a real ale establishment. Disappointingly, therefore, the only major failing of the Black Lion, as far as our visit was concerned, was its beer. There was only one hand-pumped beer on offer and that, for my taste, was too malty. I had expected, at least, two real ales to be available.
staff very friendly and efficient
Breakfast was good, though not everything on the menu was available.
Very poor staffing of bar at night. Had to search for a member of staff to get a drink which for such a large pub was not good. Rooms very tired, window was basically falling out of it's frame and bed was the noisiest I have ever encountered. Woke me up every time I turned in the night.
Staff were lovely. Food quality and presentation first class.
The town hall clock was a bit of nuisance with its early start!
The staff was very welcoming feel very comfortable we will recommend to friends and family
Breakfast Parking Town
So hot, window needed to be open all night. But then there was noise from 1) Agricultural vehicles clattering over speed ramp; 2) Town clock chiming every 15min (albeit not between 11pm and 6am). If hot weather - ask for room at the back!
Decor was a bit shabby
Good central location in the heart of Lampeter. Good value restaurant, and service very good.
The staff were friendly and always polite and went out of their way to make sure my stay was going well. the breakfast was always great and there was always lots of choice
The decor is old fashioned and the tv was really outdated but I didnt spend much time in my room. In the second room I stayed in the shower was broken.
Location..right in centre of town..was excellent. Staff were lovely..very friendly. Rooms were quirky...but hotel is old..breakfast was basic...cereal, full English..but well cooked.
Our room was very warm...too hot for comfort..think it was something to do with huge water cylinder in room. Hotel could do with being refurbished, but this is reflected in price.
room was comfortable, and clean. Complimentary drinks facilities and biscuits were a definite plus.
had to turn the taps on fully to obtain water. Couldn't use the tap while the toilet was flushing. Breakfast table wasn't laid out fully had to ask for items (spoon, side plate and knife). Our first breakfast was really nice, waitress was very helpful and friendly, our second morning - the waitress was not so, it appeared more of an effort to wait on us, and gave the impression we were in the way of her clearing up (we were not late down for breakfast, we had eaten and returned to our room at 8.45 am).
nothing,cancelled second nights stay.
state of rooms, dirty carpets in bar, food ,this hotel needs a make over.
Ideal location right in the middle of Lampeter, friendly locals. Hotel was clean and good value for money.
Town is looking rather tired and the bar in the hotel didn't stay open very late.
We loved the ambience of the hotel, and the available parking right in the center of Lampeter The staff were wonderful
We found the layout of the hotel confusing......hard to find your way around
