Score from 130 reviews Very good
We liked the building and the cleanliness outside and inside the building was really good, the staff were excellent, the food was excellent. We arrived late in the evening but the Chef was wonderful and prepared a meal for us although the kitchen had closed. We would be very happy to stay there again.
The bed could have been bigger but it was fine.
there was an issue with the TV with just two channels available ,no remote and the buttons on the set didnt function well,if you wanted to be picky the decor although generaly very nice was a little rough on a close inspection, however this was a clean and pleasant room ,an enjoyable stay, wide choice and very good breakfast, value for money, would certainly go back, and recomend to anyone.
the unexpected cleanliness need for staff
Food at the Black Lion Royal Hotel, Staff friendliness, Location.
The bed was uncomfortable, as was the armchair in the room, he shower wasn't working correctly.
A good location to plan from. The food menu was well balanced at reasonable prices. I would give the breakfast a well deserved 10. I will be using this hotel again in April '15 The manageress was most helpful and cheerful. Well done & very good value .Thank you
We had a lovely stay and we were very well looked after. The staff are really friendly and very attentive! Excellent service! The food was very nice and really good value for money. We will stay again. Thank you!
large clean bedroom, friendly staff
room could do with a makeover, shabby curtains, peeling paint, but very clean though
location and price
The location was convenient, food was good, staff were friendly, and checkout staff willing to acknowledge complaints!!
Wallpaper beginning to peel off, only one accessible power point obscured by the bed, tv without a proper stand propped against dressing table mirror - unsafe and only two channels available (no Remote), un-useable shower due to control broken, extremely squeaky floors.
good room and good breakfast.
Filthy room, bed uncomfortable. Only two channels worked on TV.
Lovely place, pittoresque. Excellent value for money. Good food, good breakfast. Staff friendly and attentive, good service.Room adequate for our needs, beds comfortables. It was lovely to have a bath and shower in the en-suite, lots of towels and soaps provided. There was a kettle, mugs, and lots of tea and coffee/decaffeinated and that was replenished generously every day. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there and would highly recommend it.
Rooms are comfortable with basic facilities. Breakfast good Staff friendly
Hotel and bedrooms tired looking and in need of renovation and investment. TV small with only 2 channels.
Cheap - good value for money place to stay if you are in this part of Wales. will stay again when i return next year.
The hotel was exactly what i expected for the money
Centrally located for trips out, (Elan valley, New quay,), then return to a traditional pub, for excellent food, and comfortable, clean rooms.
Stayed on a Friday/Saturday night and found it quiet. Staff very helpful and the meals very good with a good choice for breakfast.
In room TV could not get news or weather reports.
The rooms are clean and well looked after. The food and drink is excellent. Value for money, its the best hotel I've ever stayed in. The countryside around Lampeter is stunning, and the locals very friendly
Wi-Fi reception is intermittant - didn't work at all when I was there. Also, I stayed on a Friday night. There are only 4 pubs in Lampeter, this is one of the most used. With about 600 students and probably as many locals out on a Friday night, it did get noisy!
Family room is large and sleeps 3
8.30 breakfast start too late. Had to skip it.
Near to buses, taxes and local shops etc And I loved the chiming clock outside.
Couldn't understand how the TV worked!! But that didn't really bother us as we were out most of the time.
Price Location Staff
Location was great for walking and buses into and out of town. Very quiet even on the main road. Lovely bathroom. Lovely breakfast.
Some rather large cracks in the bedroom. Early closing time of the bar. Looked a little rundown going around the back to the entrance to the accommodation.
A lovely en suite room, although the tv only showed three channels and the tv remote didn't work, and secure. Breakfast was excellent, with multiple choices. A chef to readily cook hot meals, and a choice of cereals and fruit. And twenty minutes from the sea. Brilliant
My name is Peter and my partners name is Niki. We are a young hungarian couple. We got everything what we wanted there at the Black Lion Hotel. Good size comfortable bed, tasty rich breakfast. We either have our dinner there is well. It was impossible to find another place wich is got shepards pie on the menu. We did not regret it. It was awsome. I guess the value for the price is a bit unfair. Culd have find a cheaper place closer to New Quai. Anyway as i said it was ok.
Advert stated wifi but we never managed to get it once.said it was not thier fault as not good signal in area, but they should have stated this on web site.
