The Hotel had a lot of history and had been nicely renovated to a really high standard without losing its character. The staff were so friendly and we'd recommend it to anyone.
Cant say anything bad!!
Room was very nice. Breakfast was huge! Location very nice.
friendliness of staff food was excellent
Lovely old pub with helpful friendly staff. The room was modern and comfortable and the food was good.
Beautiful room and comfortable bed Lovely breakfast Good pub
Our room was on the ground floor and accessed outside direct from the car park, which felt slightly insecure. But it was all very calm and concerns about being disturbed by late night revellers were unfounded.
Ideal for our purpose which was a stop off on a long drive up to Cumbria. Handy to have a nice restaurant on the premises.
Bedroom curtain let in too much morning sunlight but this is only a very minor negative.
The hotel staff were exceptional. I arrived late and unfortunately the kitchen had closed. However, one of the staff assisted me and prepared a fantastic lunch which after a long day travelling was amazing. In general I would recommend this hotel to anyone.
To few parking spaces on a Saturday night. Room was a bit noisy could hear people and music in the pub as well as other guests in the room above.
Room was very nice and comfy. Price was good and included full English breakfast which was excellent.
Splendid food , superb friendly staff and very comfortable indeed
Like everyone else problems with the tv, but not a big deal as only staying one night for family reunion
Beautifully decorated rooms. Great food and beer.
Nice selection of Real Ale
The only comment id like to make is the bed was a little bit on the uncomfortable side, but the room defiantly made it not so bad.
we arrived late Friday night and was shown straight to our room. The room was lovely. very modern. very clean. would defiantly stay again! all the staff were lovely! we had abit of trouble with the local taxis. we were unable to always get one from the hotel. however we went to a local spa about 10 minutes from the hotel. we rang the hotel after not being able to get a taxi back and a lovely member of staff offered to come and pick us up. She went completly out of her way for us and made our stay really complete without having to worry! really looked after us!
WiFi was a bit hit and miss, maybe lacking a reception desk
The rooms are great, staff very good, breakfasts are excellent
Not enought hot water to have bath. Filthy shower trap not cleaned after request to do so. Hashbrown frozen in middle served at breakfast with burnt buttered toast. No one able to address issues during or end of stay. Hence this review.
Bed was comfortable
Room over the bar area can be a little noisy
Friendly staff,good food,relaxed atmosphere.
The only minor thing if I had to have a moan was the shower at 10 am was only like warm.
Everything. The staff were brilliant couldn't do enough!!!
VERY noisy pub quiz running until 11.45pm and loud noise continued until 12.15am. Impossible to get to sleep until this had died down.
Friendly staff, nice decor and great rooms
The Staff are very obliging with a lovely community atmosphere in the Bar area. Food is superb and the standard of the rooms is better than any typical hotel. I would recommend anyone to stay here.
COMFORT OF ROOMS BATHROOM WAS VERY NICE AND ALSO VERY WELL HEATED
Bed was a bit short for me - or I am too tal for the bed :-)
Love this place - really well decorated rooms, great bathroom, nice pub and restaurant. Staaf are always friendly and relaxed. Would reccomend The Black Swan for anyone who is staying in the area.
On this visit were allocated a room overlooking the road at the front. It was very noisy and deliveries at 6am weren't appreciated.
This is a lovely place to stay with excellent staff and some superb food
This hotel is beautifully presented. The room was lovely, very cosy and everything we needed, bathroom very nice, large shower and good fixtures. The room was lovely and warm, just what's needed in January. Breakfast excellent. Dined in the resteraunt, good food and very reasonable prices. Stayed in the bar in the evening, great service and good atmosphere with live music. Would definitely stay again. Could not fault this place, they have got it right as a country pub/hotel.
There's no reception so you have to get help from the bar staff if you need anything. Also there was no info at all about the hotel in the room and no phone in the room. So this all gives the impression that their restaraunt and bar are their main priority. The breakfast was good in parts but not much fresh fruit and generally the cooked breakfast could have been better. eg, burnt bacon and they couldn't produce a decent boiled egg! We paid £96 per night for one of the better rooms. That was good value for what we got but wouldn't be happy paying much more than that.
Room and bathroom were roomy and nice. Staff very friendly. Evening meal was good. Bar was good. Big car park.
All the above
Poor wifi Got licked out the goeth and rang the door bell for 15 min before a guest luckily opened the door, and buses running outside the hotel were sat with their engines running from 6am constantly the noise was in bearable
