This family-run hotel is in Newton Stewart, a charming Scottish town on the River Cree. With free Wi-Fi throughout and free parking on site, it is around a 5 minute walk from the center of town. The edge of the beautiful Galloway Forest Park is only a few miles away, and Garlies Castle is a 10 minute drive from The Blackhorse Hotel. In the surrounding area you can visit Cairn Holy, a chambered cairn outside town. Rooms at The Blackhorse are traditionally furnished with simple décor. Each has a TV, tea and coffee making facilities, and free toiletries. Breakfast is provided each morning, and is served in the charming restaurant. Lunch and evening meals are also served, and you can enjoy real ales and a choice of beers, spirits and wines. The food was very nice but it would have been nice to have been asked if and what we would like for breakfast, the breakfast was nice but there was no choice. The marketing sells this as a coaching in, I would call it a small pub used by the locals. The welcome was not very good at all, in fact it spoilt the rest of that day and we decided to leave the next morning.

Staff so friendly and welcoming; room was clean and comfortable; hotel was ideally placed for all of Newton Stewart's amenities; good unpretentious food and excellent value for money - can't fault it and would certainly recommend.

Sehr, sehr nettes Personal, welches Z.B. alle Wünsche zum Frühstück erfragt und erfüllt etc. Ein guter Dunstabzug könnte den Geruch nach Frittenfett eindämmen, der sich leider durch alle Räume zieht.
