Friendly staff Varied menu Excellent shower Returning from a wedding reception at midnight to find the bar still open for a welcome nightcap !
Our room (1) could be described as compact - but with a very comfortable bed.
Great country location providing a welcome oasis not far off busy M6. Warm hospitable welcome with ambiance of a thriving country pub. Comfortable bedroom and bathroom provided excellent night's rest and fairly priced wine and good dinner preceded the same.
Some early morning plumbing (?) noises interrupted sleep for a short while but were intermittent and not prolonged so no great worries.
Beautiful, spacious room and friendly staff who accommodated requests readily.
friendly and helpful. Food was excellent.
Friendly staff and locals. Good honest reasonably priced food
No guest wifi.
Comfortable pub with friendly staff.
Sausages at breakfast not to our taste.
This is a lovely Country Inn in a great location for 'The Wall' and the Lakes. The premises is full of character with modern comfy rooms. Friendly and welcoming hosts and staff who all made me feel entirely at home. I can't praise them enough. Met some nice locals too. Great food (dinner) and drink in a relaxed atmosphere with an excellent breakfast. Without doubt one of the best places I have ever stayed. I will certainly visit again. My thanks for a perfect break.
Lovely comfortable rooms. Lovely meals.
Very comfortable room with a great power shower to refresh the weary traveller. Brilliant location for visiting Hadrian's Wall and very quiet for an excellent night's sleep.
Efficient, friendly, helpful, user friendly, good food, room was all it said it would be and more, as a disabled traveller I found everything easy
Good modern bathroom. Friendly atmosphere.
No seating area for guests downstairs.
The room was great the food was excellent
The wifi could be better and the mobile reception was not good but this isn't the fault of the blacksmith arms
So near to Carlisle yet so rural, great local brews, relaxed yet highly competent staff, good pub food
Can't think of anything
Location and helpfulness of staff and locals
Lovely rooms, quiet location. Breakfast was good.
Would be nice to have a handrail in the shower for less able guests. Breakfast was a while coming (but worth the wait!)
I loved the positive energy that the family that runs this B &B displayed at all times They are warm and friendly and it's obvious they love what they do. And that makes it a pleasure to stay there The breakfast is absolutely scrumptious as were the crab cakes at dinner ! Very close to the talkin tarn - so if you are the kind who loves nature and quiet and great good and a warm reception - this is the place to go!
The fact that there was no wifi - especially since phone reception is very poor
The whole package. Good standard of accommodation, excellent food and a warm welcome from Clare on arrival.
Could have better sign posting from the main road.
Quiet village with traditional pub. Homemade steak and kidney pie was delicious.
Best stay of our trip - taking room, food and atmosphere into account
The staff were very helpful, the accommodation was just what we were looking for, the breakfasts and evening meals were admirable. We will definitely stay there again.
The damned peacock next door that woke us up every morning! Parking can be a bit problematic if you arrive, as we did, at prime 'meal time' on a Saturday evening. The Wifi did not work in our room although it did in the bar/lounge.
Beautiful clean accommodation. The pub restaurant itself was very busy on the Saturday evening, which was a very good indication of its popularity. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful, a very comfortable stay.
Friendly staff excellent rooms good food
Good value, comfortable room, excellent friendly pub environment, wide menu, good food and wine. Location very pretty; however, road access through narrow lanes, so convenience variable depending on what you are doing there - excellent for holiday/walking, not so good for business commuting.
Nothing. Noisy peacock in nearby garden, but I couldn't hear it from my room!
