눉The crafty window, lack of room telephone, decor
눇The staff were excellent they bent over backwards to provide us with an area for our school reunion, however, the Bluebell is a lovely building that I've been visiting since I was a child and the people who manager the facility are wasting a great opportunity to invest in it and make it into an outstanding hotel, the rooms were very tired and desperately in need of a major revamp, no telephone in the room something I would've liked as lone female guest, the latch on the window was broken off and although the the window was closed it was so badly fitted that there was a gap of up to an inch/ish wide around some of the window at allowing cold air in. I've stayed at this hotel twice this year, once for a funeral and once for a school reunion, both times a lone female traveller requesting a first floor room and both times I was given a ground floor room! I didn't complain because I was only there for 1 night so didn't see the point, otherwise I would. I did complain about the window and was told I couldn't be moved because the hotel was full but the manager would come down in 30mins to sort it and if he didn't the receptionist would, neither came down so I packed the windows with tissue to reduce the flow of cold air into the room, however I still woke several times in the night because I was cold. From a safety aspect, there was no anti slip bumps in the bath or anti slip bathmat provided and my room didn't have a do not disturb door hangar, a minor point, but I do use them to stop the cleaning lady entering the room while I'm mod pack and left for breakfast. The breakfast was good value £6.95 for a full English, 2 of everything except mushroom and piping hot, the tea urn was extremely hard work an elderly person would have struggled with it. Would've been nice to have a fruit salad option on offer.
