We have stayed here a number of times. The location is excellent, the rooms are very pleasant and ideal for relaxing. Outside, weather permitting, there is a table and chairs to relax and enjoy a glass of wine whilst enjoying the view of the canal and countryside. The breakfast was cooked to order and very good, and included in the room rate.

Only stayed for one night, but location was spot on for our purposes as right next to canal, and the marina from where we embarked on a champagne dinner cruise. The Boatyard pub is on site also which again was so convenient for us.All in all I would recommend the Boatyard Hotel for a relaxing and economical choice of accomodation.

It was an excellent room. A good size with a fab ensuite. Very comfortable. The location is beautiful being next to the canalside. The restaurant let's it down in choice and quality of food, but there is an excellent gastropub near by. It would have been good to have a high quality cereal at breakfast rather than a cheaper version. That said, staff friendly and helpful and sandwiches at teatime were nicely done. A good atmosphere. It could just do with a better menu and quality to match, but would stay here again and highly recommend the rooms.

Definitely the bedrooms they are first class. We arrived at 20:45 and when we asked about food we were told that the kitchen closed in 15 minutes, and they were not at all happy about having to cook. So we only ordered starters, I had the soup and my wife ordered a prawn cocktail. The soup was ok and hot but the prawn cocktail was disgusting, soggy bland prawns, brown lettuce and one piece of tomato. My wife had to knock on the kitchen door to get any one's attention and she asked for some fresh lettuce and fresh prawns. They were really P****d off but agreed and replaced it, just without any tomato this time. Within two minutes the kitchen lights went out and the staff (one young lad about 17) disappeared. No chance of any sweet then!

Apart from the two single beds joined to masquerade a double, but which were unfortunately of different heights, the room itself was very good. With the exception of the duty manager, who was working his socks off with little help, the rest off the staff showed no grasp of customer service at all.

Excellent room, comfy bed, luxury ensuite. The accommodation really is superb. The pictures don't do it justice. Location is excellent for access to main roads while being in a quiet location next to the beautiful Leeds and Liverpool canal. The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend this hotel. The pictures don't do it justice! The restaurant is nicely decorated and comfortable. Staff friendly. The choice and quality of the food should be better to match the quality of the accommodation. I never like cheaper versions of cereals for breakfast, but the cooked breakfast was good. I wouldn't let this deter me from staying again though, as a good pub near by called the Boars Head which served superb food.

“Our visit was instigated by an invite to a friend's 50th birthday celebration. We attended one of the party nights in the adjoining Dixon Suite, entertainment was good and the food/service was excellent. We had a basic room which was well above average, spacious and comfortable. Full english breakfast (with 2 eggs) was very tasty. Would recommend this hotel to anyone who enjoys comfort and polite staff.” Kathleen, Blackburn |
