Just a few minutes’ walk from Oxford city center, the Head of the River is on the banks of the scenic Thames River. The traditional inn features a riverside terrace and a stylish restaurant.
Score from 637 reviews Good
These 2 Victorian townhouses are a 10 minute walk from the center of town, and an even shorter walk from Christ Church College and the Thames.

Needs better double glazing we were woken by the rubbish collection in the street outside.

a little bit to expensive
Very clean room High spec finish Central lication

Real rating: 2 or 3 stars Very small No lobby No restaurant
Small bed ,bathroom and bedroom.no decoration ,just for sleep
Central location Comfortable bed Underfloor heating in bathroom Friendly staff
Central position. Friendly. Minimal formalities.
Noisy - opposite night club and bus stop.
Position. Staff member helpful
Certainly was not a five star hotel.
Clean, warm and spacious room.
1)Room No.1 Very noisy, opposite night club entrance! 2)Hotel has no restaurant. 3)No continental breakfast offered in room!
Great location. Our son is studying at Oxford, and we were only a 10 minute walk from his college. Staff was friendly and helpful. Rooms were comfortable and clean.
You can hear the people in the streets until the wee hours of the morning.
The location was excellent, with proximity to a plethora of places to go for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We were a stone's throw to the Christmas market so a stroll while sipping a warm gluhwein was a pleasure. Very easy to pop out for a walk around the centre of Oxford. The rooms were comfortable with modern facilities and decor. The staff were very welcoming and assisted with getting our bags up the stairs. Also offered flexibility in check in time.
The smaller room that we booked was quite stuffy and in spite of turning the heat down, we still found it necessary to open the window,
Noise - cramped how it could be a 5 star I can't see! thin stud walls music from staff room next door on at 7.00am Washing machine switched on at 8 right next to room! Travelodge would have been better.
Location and value for money ..... And the earplugs!
The staff, was excellent. The rooms comfortable, well appointed. No complaints about the hotel itself.
Our biggest issue was that being located in the entertainment district, we could not sleep at night due to the noise level of after bar revellers, cars with noisy mufflers, a garbage depot nearby, street cleaning machines, followed by delivery trucks to the restaurants in the morning.
The room was a good size and clean. Nice and quiet and I had a good nights sleep.
No breakfast which wasn't obvious when booking otherwise I'd probably not have paid £85.
It is a decent hotel as far as the rooms are concerned. No amenities aside from internet (which is very fast and easy to use). Convenient to Oxford University and the City Centre. Also convenient to the train station. Staff was all very nice.
Room was very small and the bed was not very comfortable. The sheets and towels never quite felt "fresh", which was a little weird.
Shower would not drain away quick enough.
Very good location for seeing Oxford. Room had everything required.
Steep steps from entry up to reception, which are a bit difficult with a suitcase. Room was rather noisy, although a set of earplugs was provided (and worked effectively).
Vicinity of all amenities and museums
Noise from shouting, bottle bins & busses tooting early in the morning
Had a short comfortable stay in this small boutique style hotel in a great location above Jamie Oliver's restaurant. Will stay again for longer to explore Oxford.
Can say found anything wrong at all.
staff friendly and helpful. good size of room convenient carpark
number of steps upto the room. secondary glazing not working so a lot of noise from outside all night
Check in and check out slick, room comfortable and kitted out thoughtfully with tea, coffee, iron. Location in Oxford perfect
Very clean and comfortable
Nothing to dislike
Close to the theatre
The noise outside the noise from the heaters etc inside. The staff were rude and had no manners towards paying guests. There was blood on the wall of our bathroom and it was not cleaned coffee had been opened and they didn't change it. The list goes on.
Good location for city centre
Tiny reception No bar. No restaurant. No breakfast facility. Tiny bathroom. Very noisy room. No plug in sink. Can not understand how hotel has 5 stars.
