The Bonham is a wee gem not far from Princes Street, I'd rather it stayed a secret
The staff were always lovely to us and we enjoyed pretending we were really living in this beautiful street. So close to everything.
No complaints at all a wonderful stay!
Great hotel, breakfast the best we had in the whole of Europe. Loved the fireside bar at back of hotel area. Had a great romantic drink with my husband, staff work excellent.
Only downside lift was out of order and we had 4 huge suitcases (travelling for 5 weeks) which was hard up three flights of stairs.
The staff was very kind and helpful, always smiling and they looked after us well. Breakfast was great and plenty and the little snug bar area was cosy and cute. The room was nice and big with a great size bath - however room temperature could be a bit warmer. We really enjoyed our stay and would stay again.
The hotel is comfortable. Breakfast was good quality & general styling is attractive.
Bedrooms could do with a refurb. Bed was very saggy & carpets quite tired. Night staff shouldn't smoke on the steps at the hotel entrance.
Stylish and comfortable ambience with amazing lampshades in the public areas and great artwork on the walls. Free car parking - very rare in Edinburgh!
Lighting in the bedroom was poor and wifi was erratic.
The location The room size was great and the views were fab. Staff were very friendly.
I like the location and the look of the hotel..pretty and quite tasteful public and private rooms.. Staff are friendly.
Small little things which added to dissapointment. The shower did not work well..either too hot or too cold. The lift did not work and we stayed on the 3rd floor. The breakfast was not very tasty..mould bread, not great coffee..no cappuchino (only with extra charge) and long waiting. Then only one egg.. Not impressed. I expected more. We however got a glass of Champagner free of charge as we had this dissapointing breakfast and Staff apologised which was very sweet. Small things
Bar & waiter staff great & good lovely
The daytime receptionist was poor not a friendly welcome on arrival no good morning or good afternoon etc used when we passed by had to acknowledge him. The younger evening receptionist was good.
Atmosphere, staff, location
Relaxed atmosphere. Quiet location. Large comfortable room. I like the lack of "notices" in the room and bathroom
Dim lighting in room, poor for reading.
location size of bed helpfuness of reception staff breakfast poached eggs Comfort and size of bedroon
lack of service/smiles at breakfast cobwebs in the bedroom lift breaking cleanliness of shower
this is one of the nicest hotels i have stopped in anywhere, staff are very friendly and accommodating, it is located close enough to main areas but is in quiet residential area. The hotel has a small but exclusive feel and this is the second time we have stayed (first was our honeymoon, this time was our 5 year anniversary) we will definitely be back for our 10 year anniversary. Thanks to The Bonham.
restaurant is so popular we were unable to book for our evening meal (note to others- book this at time of reservation)
location, comfort of room
food was average at best and overpriced. The evening meal we had was poor value for money and the starter bland and tasteless. Breakfasts have had good reviews. We found the portions small and the quality average. Very expensive for what it was in our view. Nice hotel, but far too expensive for what it had to offer in terms of food especially. We could hear conversations from the room next door. Not sure about other floors but first floor was noisy. Expected more from a hotel at this price point. Wifi connection was rubbish
Can't fault this wonderful hotel. The staff are second to none. Young, enthusiastic and always ready to help. Our room was spacious and really well equipped. Dinner and breakfast were excellent.
There was nothing I could fault in any way
Good roomy bedroom and it was nice to have a bath as well as a shower
Breakfast was ok but the dinner left us very hungry . I have never seen such small portions. Also the tea and coffee facilities in the room were very mean. Just 2 coffees and 2 teas and a miserable little caramel biscuit. Two pub B&B's we stayed at in the same week at 1/2 the cost gave us huge amounts of different teas, lots of coffees, hot chocolate and delicious biscuits
Excellent welcome in lovely surroundings. Quieter part of Edinburgh but still within walking distance of Princess Street and the station.
Beautiful décor and lovely cosy beds with quality bedding. Breakfast was very nice with a good menu choice. Situated in a nice quiet Crescent not too far from city centre.
Would need to get a taxi into centre if you had problems with walking. Although it was fairly near it was still about a 10-15minute walk into city centre.
Friendly & helpful staff Excellent location close to centre Very comfortable rooms Excellent food Outstanding service Free parking
Great hotel in city centre location within walking distance of most attractions - nice room, excellent food and drink, pleasant, attentive staff.
Away from heavy traffic noise. food was excellent
Unfortunately room right next to lift
Beautiful location & hotel. Breakfast very nice.
Had a basement room..bit disappointed as specifically asked for room with nice view. Even though room itself was stunning our view was of the carpark. Can be noisy early in the morning when staff are working in storerooms.
Superb bedroom very spacious, lovely bay windows, good bathroom.
We booked the Bonham for a treat for our daughter and son-in-law after their wedding day and they absolutely loved everything about it. The staff and the services were excellent, and it made what had been a wonderfull day that little bit more special, thank you.
Friendly and helpful staff, nothing was too much trouble for them. Clean and comfortable room.
Breakfast was very good but the dinner very disappointing and very overpriced.
