Family-run and placed less than a mile from the centre of Rotherham, the Brecon Hotel offers rooms with free Wi-Fi and free parking. Sheffield’s Motorpoint Arena and Meadowhall shopping centre are within just a few miles. The Brecon is just under a mile from Rotherham Rail Station and a 30-minute drive from Doncaster’s Robin Hood Airport. The M1 motorway 2 miles away, leading to the M18 and A1(M) in 15 minutes’ drive. Equipped with a freeview TV and DVD player, each room also has a private bathroom with a hairdryer. Guests also have free tea and coffee and a telephone. A DVD player and iron is available on request. The Brecon is only 8 miles from Sheffield’s lively centre. The Don Valley Stadium is about 10 minutes’ away by car. Hotel Rooms: 20

Because the hotel is being renovated rooms are located in a separeate 'block' at the rear of the hotel, itslike being in a timewarp. Plus no bar or breakfast. This should be made known before booking...so not great value at all. Having looked into this the hotel has been in this state for some time...

Very friendly and helpful staff. We were made very welcome. Our 3 bed room easily accommodated three adults. Very quiet at night; good Chinese restaurant in short walking distance. The hotel is situated in a nice residential area.

I wanted a cheap, no-frills (bar, restaurant, gym, pool etc.) hotel - that was close to the town centre. It was a "toss-up" between booking a taxi to home (10 mins away), or finding a cheap and comfortable hotel - just somewhere to rest my head for the night. This Hotel fitted the bill exactly. The host was very chatty, very welcoming, keen to provide the best "simple" accommodation at a competitive price - and also keen to get feedback on how to do better. He was insistent on bringing anything to his attention that wasn't quite what we were happy with... Only downside was a bit of poor water pressure to the bath; which took a while to run. Not a show-stopper for me. Everything else was tops.

The general manager Mr.Azad Yousaf was very polite & courteous especially helpful with advice & directions to my venues and I will recommend the hotel to others, I will certainly stay there again

I found this hotel to be really poor on service and helpfulness regarding the duties of a Hotel Manager. To be threated by the managers brother with violence was unbelieveable and then refused to be refunded so I may go on my way without any stress was a great shame. I will never stay at this hotel again and I would strongly recommend not too stay there.

very reasonable price for a good nights sleep with no noise or hassle about parking or what time door locked as we were in the annexe good clean facilities good shower etc would definately stay there again

I stay because it is convenient for my onward journey My previous stay was ok but this time the room I was given had obviously been occupied by a smoker, despite a non-smoking policy. It was very stale smelling which did not help as I have an allergy which makes me sneeze a lot. On reflection, I should have asked for another room. Maybe next time.

I stayed for one night only so this question is difficult to answer. Having said that, I found everything satisfactory. I was not too impressed with the seating in the bar area. There is just one sofa which was occupied by a young man so I had to sit at the tables designated for eating. Not very comfortable for reading whilst enjoying an excellent glass of Sauvignon Blanc.

I have stayed in dozens of hotels which charged much more and could not match the service, room standard and food quality of the Brecon. Great hotel which ticks all the boxes. I stayed in the main building so cannot comment on the annex.

very good value clean and tidyIstayed in the block behind yes the furniture is a bit tired but i have stayed in worse and payed a lot more The room size was great and not cluttered which was great i stayed 4 nights no problems would stay again

the staff were amazing and the food was also excellent.... its sad that it has to close its doors for business the first week of september after over 60 years not too keen on the accommodation overlooking the back of very run down hotel
