Helpful staff and good food
Rooms look a bit run-down and no covered smoking area
Rooms good size and convenient next to restaurant. Good breakfast.
Bathrooms in need of refurbishment. Doors etc in the main building all scuffed andarked. Gave whole place a dirty feel.
Price was good
Corridors smelt and needed a good lick of paint, nobody on reception when we went to check out at 7am,rooms were ok but needed modernisation
comfort of beds, constant supply of hot water, shower pressure. breakfasts was good and plentiful, friendliness of the staff and price of room etc. peaceful location the bar was good and again staff very friendly and food was good if a little slow in coming
the room was a little tired and shabby, curtains and nets were very dirty, curtain rails were very dusty and one was bent down and needed repairing. Bathroom was in need of a good spruce up and so did the decor to the whole room. did not use the kettle etc as was not happy with the kettle and having to get water from the bathroom sink was very awkward. Could not leave windows open as these would not stay up unless something was put to wedge these open. Finally, the outside appearance of the whole building looked very tired and was in need of a good repaint etc.
Quite and slept well, breakfast was great
Where the rooms where
I liked the bed, the location and the price.
The shower leaked out of the bathroom within 30 seconds of it being turned on. Powerful shower though.
I found the staff friendly And very helpful. The room was spacious needs a bit of redecorating but bed was extremely comfy room was clean and big size for our family. The food was fab very impressed will defianatly be staying again and highly recommend to anyone had a lovely stay great play area for the children
Could do with some refurbishment as some tiles were broken in the bathroom and damp marks on the walls and ceilings and carpets could do with a bit of a clean
This was an ideal location for us the accomodation was good value and comfortable, the pub food in the Brentwood Inn was excellent with plenty of choice, the staff were friendly and polite what more can you ask for?
Pub next door
Bedrooms old and worn, bathrooms need replacing
Pub next door
Dirty & smelly kingsize bed was 2 singles out together 1 was higher that the other
large room, nice restaurant, car park.
room very cold, no heating. paint hanging off, no staff to supply milk and coffee sachets for our room in the evening.
Very quiet room
Wifi was advertised as being free and available in all areas including bedrooms but neither of us could use it as it was unstable Was very cold
Looks the same on the outside when I was at .Thomas Rotherham Sixth form 1975,76,78.
Room cold, alerted staff, told on a timer would come on at ten pm.Did not. Had to leave bathroom door open to get heat from towel rail, but bathroom window did not close properly so quite a cold draught coming from there .A little disappointed as had chosen hotel from a sentimental perspective. Had a meal on evening of arrival, vast menu good price but took over 30mins to appear. Hotel needs some TLC, as a beautiful building .However given a discount from a very caring member of staff, thanks for that, but could not recommend to others.
Staff were excellent particularly liz. We have a disabled child and she did everything she could to make our stay easy. Food good, room great.
Great food in the adjoining grill , staff friendly and helpful
Comfortable bed Clean bed
Lock on main door into annexe broken, could not get in Reception unmanned, staff not particularly helpful in showing me to room Decor a bit tatty
Fleas or bed bugs filled the ill fitting bed linen fly pooh and dust covered surfaces and the fusty smell made you vomit. Would let my pets stay in there . The staff were rude and unhelpful mould and bodily fluids stained the walls your shoes stuck to the carpet and I was no way going in that bathroom even to dirty to be rented out for the hour!
Restaurant & bar
very quiet, large room and bathroom, great value for money including the food at the flaming grill downstairs, great location near a park
the room was a little too dark, not much light, bathroom needed some repainting
Rooms and passageway could do with a lick of paint. The hallway had strong smell if smoke and room ha smell of stale smoke. Only stayed 1 night so it was fine, we did mention to the manager.
At £45 a night for the four of us we couldn't really find anything cheaper. Beds were clean. The bar grill was a nice place to eat and relax. That's about it.... Sorry!
The room was filthy. 1- The curtains looked like they had never been removed and the dust on them was just amazing. 2- The nets were dirty and starting to turn yellow looks like they have never been removed and washed. 3- The light covering had never been looked at and had around 10/15 dead insects. 4- One of the bed side tables had drink spilt on it and must of dripped into the draw from a previous guest... This was not cleaned. 5- Two of the four mugs left for us had chips on the rim and one still had coffee/ tea stains.... Gross! 6- The carpet had clearly not been hoovered and the previous occupants hair (clumps) was still on the floor. I could even tell you the hair was blonde there was that much. 7- There was cod webs on the ceiling. 8- The hot water was SO hot that you could not even touch it. (There was warning signs near the taps) 9- There was not even enough towels for the four of us. As kids do they jump and hide. And hide they did (under one of the beds) the eldest came out from under the bed with a grin from ear to ear.... He had found £2. So I lifted the bed and it was gross. I'd lay the £2 that he found that under bed had not seen a Hoover since it was placed there! It was so dirty I had to tell the boys to stop going under the bed encase they found something else..... We left a note for the cleaners which was totally ignored. So we told a manager and walked him round the room. He offered us a complimentary bar while he felt with the basics and told us the rest will be felt with the cleaners when they came in.... Yeah right! I guess you do get what you pay for!
Really like it as we arrived staff very friendly directed us to our room and let us know about bar opening times and about food for the morning
In the morning guy on reciption was abit rude but to give him his due he did look like he was busy so no harm done just could have been a bit friendly
The building in which our room was located ,was in desperate need of decoration with wallpaper coming off the walls and a large vomit stain on the carpet outside our room. Our room was in need of a deep clean- there were cobwebs in the corner and the net curtains were dirty and hadn't been washed for a long long time. The bathroom was dirty- under the rim of the toilet was an absolute disgrace!! We were in the disabled room but I think it was an insult to anybody unfortunate enough to be disabled.A very very disappointing experience. We were booked in for 3 nights but decided to come away after 2 because of the above.
Very accommodating staff very helpful
Facilities in desperate need if refurbishment
