Walls were a bit thin.
Welcoming staff, spotlessly clean, comfy bed, very quiet situation. Street parking (free) outside hotel. Pleasant sitting room with tea/coffee. Good breakfast served hot. Ideal for parents dropping children off at uni. I will be back for graduation!
Temperamental plumbing in shower and hand basin. No soap holder in shower (I'm struggling to find things I didn't like!)
free parking. good breakfast. Proximity to city centre.
no wifi. Tea & coffee making in the lounge but no milk. Bit of a rough area for after dark.
Breakfast. Close to the hospital where we were visiting a patient. Transport links. (bus stop nearby). Quietness.
Whole place needs updating. Even just repainted and new bed linen would make it a lot better. Room smelt old & musty.
The staff are marvelous, especially young James who was on reception when we arrived. A warm and accommodating welcome makes a great foundation for a stay. Bed was comfy and plenty of room. Was easy to get a parking space out front. There is a very nice Indian restaurant a few minutes walk away.
There is so much rubbish in the street it is a bit off-putting, but that is common in New Castle since the bins were removed for security reasons. It's a bad look for a business.
friendly welcome ,,close to centre 15 min walk down hill ,,,
The staff was really nice and the English breakfast was perfect! Free tea and coffee were available and the room was comfortable!
We wish to have a sink at the single toilet, but this would be really picky!
It was clean and comfortable and the breakfast was good.
Didn't have en-suite facilities had to go next door for toilet and shower, would have liked a kettle in room so we could have made a cup of coffee before bedtime.
I was looked after. I was asked if everything was ok and did I need anything else.
breakfast, hash browns cooked in dirty oil, bacon and sausage precooked and heated up when client was ready to eat, products appeared to be cheapest money could buy.
Very good price. Extremely friendly staff. Spotlessly clean.
The area...The Beirut part of Newcastle. No tea making facilities in the room.
The en suite room was clean and spacious for the price. Pleasant staff. Great value.
As advertised - no wifi, & cell service is spotty.
Excellent all-round and all of our party said we would definitely stay there again.
There was nothing.
For the price, the hotel is undoubtedly good value. The room was more than comfortable and a reasonable size and a decent breakfast was also thrown in for good measure. The staff are friendly and provide a very real welcome. The bottom line is would I recommend this hotel to others and the answer is definitely yes. An ideal stay for those on a budget seeking a short stay.
The location isn't brilliant. The Westgate Road area isn't the best in Newcastle, although Brighton Grove is quiet enough. However, there is a general lack of amenities so any forays from the hotel would have to involve a trip into the city centre, which is close by bus but represents a long uphill walk on foot.
The location was fairly central for the town.
The welcome by the person on the front desk was poor. It seemed as if he was in a hurry to get me booked in and then get back to something else. Whilst there is free coffee and tea in the lounge there is nothing in the room which was not up to the standard of a modern day Guest House. The room had obviously had a crack in the ceiling at some time but was very poorly patched up. Altogether not a good experience. The breakfast time was from 8 am to 9 pm only which means I could not have breakfast as I had to get to work.
The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Everything was fine
Cleanliness left a lot to be desired with cheap old fashioned furniture, wouldn't go back
Reasonably easy to find. Breakfast and breakfast service was good.
We were greeted and shown to our rooms on arrival but never saw anyone on reception after that. The twin room I paid £108 for two nights for was very dated and poor looking, bed sheets had stains on them and the room smelled of urine. The shower room was tiny, smelled really bad, had a scruffy bathroom rug and the basin was outside in the bedroom. The TV reception kept failing. One of our party was staying in another part of the hotel and barely slept over the two nights due to the noise from party groups. It was a bit of a walk to get to any decent bars and restaurants in the evening which meant getting a taxi back. I stay in hotels all over the country on business trips and I expect better for £54 a night. It might reflect the typical prices in Newcastle but if hoteliers want to charge a standard sort of price I don't see why they can't offer basic standard of cleanliness and care in the rooms.
Good clean accommodation with nice friendly staff who couldn't do enough for us. Great location for the Football at St James Park. Breakfast included in the price & was excellent. All in all great value for money & I would recommend the Brighton to anyone.
Rooms were clean & comfortable, staff were very friendly & helpfull. Breakfast was a full english with as much tea & coffee all day as you wanted. Great location & great value for money, will be back again.
Very friendly staff.
I like the lounge with tv and as much tea and coffee as0you want just like home from home
Nothing at all
Friendly staff. Clean and comfortable room. Would stay here again.
The friendliness of the member of staff upon arrival. Extremely helpful and even got me a phone charger as I had forgotton mine,However I slept that well I didnt hear my alarm and managed to miss breakfast
I would have liked a kettle in the room instead of going downstairs .
Clean place, quiet and good customer service
Lack of private parking.
Great staff Lovely hotel Spacious room and bathroom Really nice breakfast Big TV Private parking (However ---->) Highly recommended Very reasonably priced
Drainage is on a saniflo system which is quite annoying and shower took a while to drain away. Parking- you have to go back around the one system to reach the rear of the property and it was a little tight on space for my van but got parked so just being honest...
