The hotel is very tired, as we're the staff!! Couldn't fault reception, but the bar and restaurant staff were dire. Unwelcoming, unfriendly, miserable, annoying (ie. Drying cutlery in the bar area and slinging them one at a time into the cutlery tray was brain numbing!!) No ambiance in the bar, no music just the television on for the bar staff to watch (no one else was!). avoid the restaurant as food was poor, overcooked risotto, overcooked steak, dead salad. Even questioned the price of drinks as 2 pints of thatchers were charged differently on the same bill, but staff just came up with poor excuses, so didn't bother to pursue. The room was adequate for what we paid, but tired. The blind was faded and the roller blind held together with Staples!! Seriously?? Not the usual standard of a Best Western, but that's why they do cheap nights....don't think in any way you are getting 60% off, as the rooms are no way near that valuable. Please management, get some chatty, friendly bar staff, better lighting in the bar, some pictures on the walls, ditch the advertising banners and the television....it could be so lovely!
The break was definately value for money. Very comfortable matress, but smaller than the bed base!! Breakfast was lovely. Reception staff very polite. Clean hotel. Surrounding area beautiful :0)
