The hotel is situated near a canal and moorings for narrow boats - just gave a feeling of peace, calm and good fun - will most certainly be staying their again.
We were not treated as punters but as valued guests. It's very refreshing to be greeted as if we were friends. Rooms clean comfortable and oh so quiet. Breakfast was good.
Under floor heating. Power shower with rainfall head. Big comfy bed. Very quiet. Good dinner Good breakfast Friendly staff
Pillows Light outside window kept my room light Breakfast started at 7.30 and I needed to leave at 7.45, so a big rush to eat.
It was so peaceful, lovely room and friendly helpful staff.
food was excellent in restaraunt good value
breakfast very tiny portions and only 1 cup of tea, but otherwise ok
Food was fabulous value for money & the staff were very warming. The room was superb with a four poster bed & a absolutely lovely relaxing power shower (which is very rare to find in a lot of hotels or b&b's) left fealing totally relaxed & rested A+
The fact we had to leave , go home & back to work the next day
Very helpful and friendly staff, great food, lovely rooms
All the staff were very friendly, really enjoyed the food and the log fire was very warming on what was a cold evening. Room was warm and a comfortable bed, so overall good value for money.
the lighting in the room was a bit too subdued, found it a stuggle to read before sleep with just the bedside light. wouldn't stop me from using the hotel again though
Wet room Underfloor heating Friendly and helpful staff Breakfast
Nice clean and comfortable rooms Staff and management went out of their way to be helpful Nice location, good location and well appointed with good food.
very good breakfast
Everything a lovely friendly comfortable hotel excellent
My new favourite place to stay around Derby. Great spot by the canal, beautiful room with fantastic bathroom, decent food, choice of ales and a really pleasant atmosphere.
Being pedantic: Room was hot at first and under-floor heating took a while to cool. Wifi signal can be a bit patchy.
Staff very friendly Food Excellent Location lovely
Accomodation was very clean and a good standard of decor. Being attached to the Pub gave easy access to the bar and food area's. Usual selection of Bar food. Staff were very frendly and helpful. Would stay again
Staff & Owners were engaging and very accommodating more like a Bed & Breakfast with a large family than a Pub/Hotel. Very professional, great food.
The rooms were elegantly decorated, clean and comfortable. All staff were friendly and very helpful. The food in the restaurant was outstanding, great choice too. Loved it, would recommend and definitely return.
Clean and comfortable. Very stuffy room, couldn't open the window past a few inches. Fortunately a fan was provided which made the room bearable. No hot water in the middle of the day. Staff dealt with promptly but had to wait 3 hours for it to heat up.
The breakfast was a joke. Scrambled eggs are not fried eggs mushed up, the single mushroom was cooked in old tasting oil. Staff had no idea what a green tea was. Bacon barely cooked. In the evening our first 4 choices of drinks from the list were unavailable and the choice from the bar varied from very ordinary to undrinkable.
Pleasant hotel that I would be very happy to use again. Nice bedroom, I was lucky to be on the courtyard's side so spent a bit of time sitting there reading and watching the peacocks on the roof! I am not sure that the bedrooms on the other side of the corridor (with windows on the car park) will be as nice. Food was very pleasant, no fuss but good hearty quality and good value (I had the mixed grill and there was so much I couldn't finish it). Staff very friendly.
No major problem really - just a word of warning on breakfast as it was cooked breakfast only so might not suit everyone. Absolutely not a problem for me as I enjoy making the most of my stays in hotels, and the quality was very good. Orange juice could be improved but when it comes down to small details like that one on the negative side, you know it's a good hotel.
Good room and very friendly albeit very young inexperienced staff. Well furnished small room.Reasonable food.
Queuing at the bar with lots of drinkers to try to book in.
The room was lovely, well set out with comfy mattress. A nice little private court yard for sitting out. The food was very good too. Overall a cracking little place.
Clean, modern & comfortable rooms. Nice food in the restaurant. Friendly staff
Breakfast times too short & restrictive.
The location on the edge of Derby, but it has a country - canal side feel. The staff were very friendly, and an excellent East Midlands cooked breakfast!
A bit noisy first thing in the morning, but that wouldn't stop me from staying again.
Very close to the canal , for evening walks . Close to derby n villages
Noise from car park , when people leaving the pub. And turning round so they can park outside the pub.menu in pub could have more snack items eg jacket potatoes. .
