Excellent hospitality and food
Room was comfortable and clean but needed a good make-over
Good, characterful and representative of the area and clientel. Lovely warm rooms in December.Large size portions of food.
The staff were extremely pleasant, the food was excellent and the location was perfect.
the cheap furniture was a little out of place for the age of the Inn.
The bed The real log fires The food The friendly atmosphere
No heat in the bedroom or bathroom in the morning
Staff were friendly and helpful. Excellent location and breakfast was good.
Let hugely down by a worn out mattress that actually sloped down on one side - neither of us got a good night's sleep
The location was very good, the log fires homely, and the selection of real ales alongside s&n's normal offering was welcome.
The condition of the inn is very 70's and a good revamp would not go amiss, the rooms are cluttered, over furnished with a miss match of seemingly second hand furniture, the carpets to bedrooms and hallways i describe as shabby chic. The bathroom had been revamped 'but completely in black'.The food and beers were good but expensive, over six pounds for a pint and a half and all but fourteen pounds for steak and ale pie.Perhaps will try the thwaites inn next time.
Loved the location, the room, the decoration, the roaring log fire, the breakfast, the four poster bed stead.
The mattress was cheap, rock hard and I could feel the springs. Had a terrible nights sleep, that said, my husband slept like a baby. So if you like hard beds this is the place for you.
The young lady who booked is in and looked after all of our other needs . very friendly and happy .
Pies and breakfast
someone else,s hair in the jacouzie !! and only luke warm water
Everything - the hotel far exceeded our expectations and we were more than satisfied with every aspect.
The weather! :p But really, the hotel was faultless.
Central location Food was good value for money, with very large portions (too big
Late booking so stopped in the family room, in need of updating compared to the other rooms.
Very good breakfast plenty of choice.
Not very good wifi bar meals expensive for what you got.
location,staff very friendly,and excellent food.
Room 12,was terrible, noisy from the bar underneath, also from ducks in a pen outside the window at all hours of the night, room very dated, grubby, and cold, due to its location in the building, asked for another room, they had none,so they gave us heaters!Moors view, only if you hang out of the window and someone holds your feet, otherwise a very unpleasant view, felt we paid too much for what could only be discribed as a spare room with an uncomfortable bed,and if we were charged the same rate as others in the building then we were robbed.
The location, facilities and staff were great. The food was excellent quality. Overall it was good value for money.
Our room was small and the double bed was small too. The food was on the expensive side.
friendly staff, excellent breakfast, poor waitress rushed off her feet as only one hour for breakfast and very busy both mornings. The location was good, ok if you don't mind roughing it for a couple of nights!
our room was just ok, bed seemed lumpy and saggy, pillows were flat. The bathroom had wallpaper peeling off and couldn't use the bath as it took ages to fill with hot water.Housekeeping could have been better, cobwebs on lampshade, the staircase needed a good vacuuming and dusting!
Friendly and inviting place to stay and not to be missed. All staff most helpful and polite.
Breakfast and young waitress were fantastic.
friendly atmosphere. attractive room. Good breakfast.
only a few minor niggles- shower tiles a tad dirty, bed a bit low for us.
Loved the location, traditional country Inn and the room very oldie woldy, but we love this as it adds to the real yorkshire you would expect, and yet the on suite bathroom was lovely great big shower and clean. staff very nice, breakfast fantastic with a great menu choose from, staff eager to ensure we enjoyed our breakfast too! Lovely village location and lots of lovely streams flowing through the village and a great walking area.
I will just start by saying there really was not anything we didn't actually like but purely observations that could be improved on. The four poster bed I do feel that the dated net curtain type top covering above should be removed, giving a feeling of space and adding more light in the room as the table lamps were lovely but not very bright shades, and the ceiling light was quite dim. Also perhaps update the mattress though I do like a fairly hard bed myself it was very hard, I found it difficult to sleep. However my husband who I might add commented the bed was very hard for him, managed to sleep (he can sleep anywhere though) perhaps update to a more up to,date thicker, padded mattress - firm but softer (padded). It was a little chilly when we were there even though it wa August and the room did become cold eventually someone did pit the heating on and our towel rail could then dry our. Towels. Unfortunately to eat at the Inn was quite expensive so did not eat at the Inn though the menu was varied and I am sure the food is lovely we chose to eat across the road but I do beleive had the food been slightly less expensive we would have stayed at our Inn for our evening meals.
Very friendly staff who made us most welcome. Very clean and comfortable bedroom and lots of hot water. Choice on the cooked breakfast menu was excellent and very tasty.
The atmosphere in the bar was dark and could have been more comfortable. Choice of fruit on the breakfast menu would have been an advantage
breakfast was ok but a bit mean with the toast
the rooms where cold, the decor is poor and needs updating, meal at night was not very good.
Hotel staff warm and friendly, food excellent in a lovely away from it all spot.
The bed was rather too low for oldies like us and the mattress a bit on the lumpy side, The door lock had a will of it's own which we eventually came to master (Room 2). Thought we'd have to resort to shouting help out of the window as no phone signal!
Staff were pleasent and helpful, breakfast menu was excellent.
No mobile phone signal or wifi.
Food was good choice of beer was good area was excellent base for seeing the dales .
The room was a bit dated needed up dating. The room was cold in the evening had to ask for the heating to be put on and that wasn't very hot.
The location is good for getting out and walking.
Food was expensive but it was nice. The rooms were very run down and cold.
