Great location. Lovely rooms, (despite some misgivings about basement location) Freindly staff could not do enough for us. basement rooms could be a bit depressing if it was a loevly day, not much natural light. But the rooms themselves were lovely.

There was a warm welcome (including a roaring fire) when I arrived. Friendly staff. The breakfasts were superb and the room just right. The name implies a pub, but apparently it has never been one. This didn't worry me, but others might expect a bar.

We stayed in one of the basement rooms which was unusual but lovely, the arched ceiling made the stay feel like an adventure. Breakfast was good. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The double bed was 2 singles zipped together which made the bed rather uncomfortable. Shower temperature was difficult to control.

Helen gave us all a warm welcome. The log fire was lit and we were able to sit in front of it before going to our beautiful, clean rooms. Extra logs were left for us to use. Lovely breakfast. In all a lovely, friendly place to stay. There was nothing to dislike.

The "deepdale" room was lovely it even had its own separate entrance from the front of the hotel. The wood burning stove in the main front reception room was roaring away! The deepdale room was a little cold as it only had one electric storage heater, which we kept on full all the time, but the room was still cold.
