Great hosts, very good breakfast
We liked everything, the hosts Roger & Maureen have put a lot of thought & effort into their B&B,lacking nothing, from meals to supplies in the bathroom, hot tub was great & the room was very tidy & clean as was the lounge area.Nothing was too much trouble, when we were stuck in Matlock after a day out & could not find a taxi Roger came out to pick us up in his own vehicle & would not accept payment for it.Really good service and really nice owners,we travel all over the U.K. and this is the best B&B we have come across..deservidly the No1 B&B in Matlock Bath.We highly recommend it to everyone..give it a try..you won't regret it. Thanx Roger & Maureen.
A great little B and B - lovely breakfast including homemade yoghurt, granola etc plus the option of a cooked breakfast which was freshly done to our individual liking. Rooms were very comfortable and had all the little things you often want but don't get such as a corkscrew, biscuits, shower gel for when you forget your own.....etc etc. Roger was a lovely host and recommend some great places to eat to us - we had an excellent meal on all 3 nights we stayed. Would definitely recommend and will happily book to stay again when we next visit the area.
The best B&B we have stopped in. From arrival to be greeted by Roger and Tea/Coffee, great breakfasts, very clean rooms with all the facilities. Great location, public transport outside if required, to departure, card facilities, only left 20 mins Roger rang to say he had overcharged by £10 and apologised.
The place was dirty.
I am sure our experience is out of character from previous travellers, but we did not enjoy our stay at the cables, despite our hosts trying very hard to recover a first poor experience.
Adequate for what we needed/paid. Breakfast was good.
We stayed at The Cables whilst spending a few days in the Peak District for our wedding anniversary. It was thoroughly enjoyable and Roger went the extra mile to recognise the occasion. This fact was much appreciated by Mrs C. In addition, the breakfast was top notch.
They were very helpful and nothing was to much for them to help.
Probably the best full english breakfast I've ever had! A great host.
Slow wifi but no biggie.
The noisy road. Parking was't satisfactory .
Friendly staff (owner) Breakfast
Not en-suite, paying £6 to use warm hot-tub. Noisy main road.
Everything. Rodger and Maureen where both fantastic, the room wonderful and breakfast delicious.
From the moment we walked in the door we were made to feel special. Roger looked after us like we were family and went the extra mile to make sure we had everything we could want. It was my girlfriend's birthday and he had decorated the room and bought champagne, flowers and chocolates at my request. They think of everything and it's the small touches that make the difference. The room had a well stocked mini bar with drinks and snacks at very reasonable prices (practically supermarket prices!). You get the impression that your enjoyment is far more important to them than trying to find ways of making money from you, which is a refreshing change! The jacuzzi was magical and they've cleverly created a little enclave so that it feels like you're in the middle of the forest when you're in there. Breakfast was so good that we were raving about it days later, anywhere that has 4 choices of sausage gets a thumbs up in my book! The food is all locally sourced and delicious. We also went with their recommendation for a restaurant for dinner and it did not disappoint. We went to the Balti and the food and service were exceptional. To sum it up, I would say that our experience of staying at the Cables was probably the best hotel/guest house experience we have had in this country. We're the kind of couple who always want to find somewhere new to explore but we're both agreed that we'll be going back to visit the Cables again because when you find service this good, it's very rare.
good breakfast one of best Italian restaurants just 10 minutes walk away
most uncomfortable beds ever dog muck on floor in guest lounge evening meals not available unless you order the day before
A pleasant 2 night stay.
The separate private bathroom even though we were aware it was. The en-suite rooms were already booked.
Love this place stayed the night before wedding it was perfect
A very nice place to stay with excellent breakfast and a clean comfortable room. Not too far to walk to Matlock and Matlock Bath. Thanks Roger for making us so welcome.
The bed was comfortable, welcoming on arrival.
The shower/bathroom wasn't very clean (could do with a refurbishment as smelt damp). The smell on arrival to the b&b smelt like stale smoke in the lobby and lounge room. The breakfast wasn't included in the £90 room charge which wasn't very clear on booking, our room was over looking quite a busy road and in general felt confinded and dark.
The breakfast choice was impressive for a small b&b. the hosting was very very good, we had a problem with our car on arrival and they went out of there way to Help us and get us booked into a garage. The room was lovely.
The traffic at the front , but that's only because I wasnt useto it, and do feel they Need a new sign at the front and the front needs re painting , as from Outside you could go Pass it without realising how amazing little hidden gem this is.
Clean and friendly. Good breakfast.
Private bathroom but accessed across public area. Wifi reception was not reliable.
Very friendly and helpful owner with the most amazing breakfast
Very picturesque location. Breakfast was good, great fruit compote. Roger made excellent coffee which was gratefully excepted when offered on arrival.
Bed could use a new mattress
The room was beautiful & very comfortable. Roger & Maureen were excellent hosts.
Unfortunately because the night that we stopped was such a warm day, we had to leave the window open & the passing traffic noise even in the night made it difficult to sleep. The shower door in the en suite would not close properly which resulted in water leaking onto the floor.
