Having stayed here before, I knew that we would have a relaxing break and that we would enjoy a good selection for dinner and breakfast. The bathroom was huge with the option of a bath or power shower and it was lovely and warm in our room.
The room was modern, a fair size and comfortable
Some staff members were a little bit stand offish (we got the impression that they'd have prefered not to have been working the holiday period)
Very nice room, spacious with really comfy bed! Bath plug was a bit leaky but managed to sort it out after some fiddling. Food was great.
Room was too hot in the night!
Excellent rooms very clean and good location.
Not much variation on menu. Although food that was on offer was prepared to a very good standard with good portion sizes.
Helpful and friendly staff. Very clean and comfortable room and bed. Excellent food and drink. Great ambience in the pub and restaurant. We will be returning for a longer stay soon!
The only downside in room 7 was the hum of a fan at 7.00 am - not a major issue when everything else was so excellent.
Very comfy bedroom and a large bathroom, good food available . Free wifi much appreciated as remote location
The open fires which were most welcoming especially at Breakfast with the weather was cold and dreary outside. Breakfast with many options very good value.
The bedroom [No 3] was fine except for the fact it was over the kitchen/boiler/ and I heard the rumblings of the boiler into the night. I also feel that the bedrooms [at least No 3] might be made more 'friendly' with perhaps a picture or two on its walls. But Bed and pillows excellent and masses of white fluffy towels excellent also.
There was nothing to fault, the staff were extremely friendly, the food was divine and the atmosphere was lovely. I've told all my friends about it :-)
Having stayed here a year ago, we had no doubt about a return visit. Staff very friendly and professional, rooms spacious with very comfortable bed and great shower! Breakfast kept us going until evening.
Food was good, room was lovely, shower was excellent ,staff were all lovely and everywhere was very clean and tidy
It was all good
My partner and I have stayed on a previous and had a delightful stay. The ambiance was lovely, quite warm, inviting and the food was delicious.
The bed was extremely uncomfortable which led us to have a sleepless night. A staff member was rather unpleasant and made myself feel quite uncomfortable with what I was ordering which spoiled a part of the evening. The staff member in question in the morning still made her feelings known with a few rude glances.
Super comfortable bed. Nice bar and log fires. Lovely big bathroom with nice contemporary fixtures.
Standing at the bar waiting for someone to check me in. It is a pub and there is no reception as such. Shower was a tad temperamental due to a problem with an airlock that they said they would look into.
All the staff (apart from one) were very nice and friendly. The room was clean and comfortable. The perfect amount of space for two people to feel cozy but not cramped. The shower was great and we had plenty of clean, fresh towels each day. The convenience of adding drinks from the bar or food from the restaurant to your room bill was appreciated. The restaurant had a varied menu and the food itself was consistently excellent. The breakfast selections were also wonderful. The coffee was good too. The pricing felt just about right. Not cheap enough so you wondered about what you were actually getting. Not too expensive such that you felt taken advantage of. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely like to stay at The Carpenters again.
Gosh, this is scraping the barrel a bit because we had a good time here. Overall, we felt 3 things could be improved. #1: The shelf space in the bathroom was extremely limited (room #3). We had to use the floor or the toilet seat to put out our things as we got ready in the mornings. There's ample space to put up a little shelf. Go on - you can do it! #2: A box of tissues in the room would have been helpful when coming into a warm room from the cold outside. #3: The young guy who checked us out could have been more accessible and friendly. We needed to get going on our last morning. After waiting at the bar for close on 10 minutes I had to go looking for him. When I found him, he went through the mechanics of payment, receipt, bye. A little "thanks for staying with us" or "safe drive to the airport" wouldn't have gone a miss. A little courtesy and appreciation goes a long way. Just a thought. Apart from that, our stay was very enjoyable.
Friendly staff, great food & beers, clean modern room with a good 2-person shower
Everything about my stay at the Carpenters was very nice; as I stay in hotels 45 weeks in the year it is one of thoese hotels I will remember when on a return trip.
Everything. I am a frequent traveller and this is the best yet.
rooms were really clean and comfortable, big rooms, big bathroom with deep bath
Modern cosy feeling, staff young and polite made me feel welcome, rooms are stunning, surroundings stunning
The food was fabulous and all of the staff were friendly and helpful. I would happily recommend my friends and family to this place and will no doubt return!
Friendly staff and family feel. Good food, nice room.
The lighting in the bathroom (Room 1) needs improving as there is no light over the mirror. I imagine this would drive the women mad! :-)
The place was busy but the staff always found the time to ensure you were looked after. The beds and rooms were clean and no complaints.
I had trouble getting the wi-fi--minor.
Would definitely stay again, like the decor, very quiet as well
Location was good with lots of parking. Staff friendly and helpful. There is no lift to the 2nd floor, bit staff offered to take our cases up to our room. Good food, well presented.
Well furnished and decorated rooms, with all modern facilities. The restaurant provided excellent meals, while the overall atmosphere of the place was both welcoming and convivial.
It is a working pub/restaurant, so one can expect a degree of noise until closing time, and early in the morning with the kitchen and other staff arriving, but it was never obtrusive.
