It was clean and friendly, the food was very good, and the rooms were good sizes with everything you needed. The bar was nice, and hotel staff were friendly. All in all a nice hotel to stay in for a night or weekend and good value.

Location is close to work. Breakfast waitress was pleasant Room wasn't clean. Dusty. Cups were grimy.bed was too soft. Reception staff unhelpful and reluctant to give me a receipt and tried to overcharge me. Breakfast was very greasy. In spite of having notified them that I have a bad back and requesting ground floor if possible I was given 2nd floor and had to carry my luggage. The male receptionist even rushed past me on the stsairs whilst I was struggling!

Only the position of the hotel. Very run down, dirty smelly room, carpet had numerous stains, needs entire renovation. Wifi did not work in the rooms, only in the bar. Not a 3 star hotel as advertised, would not even give it 1 star.

The staff were very helpful, lovely and very accomodating. Although booking.com advertised this hotel as having room service, and it doesn't, the staff were happy for me to eat in my room. (I don't like eating alone in a restaurant). The food was lovely. The location was perfect for my purpose and although my sat nav didn't take me to the hotel, the staff again were more than happy to give me excellent directions. The room had everything I needed and was clean and well presented. It was uncomfortably warm when I got there, but I opened the velux window and turned the heating off to make the room a more comfortable temperature for me. Couldn't ask for more. I would happily stay in this hotel again and would recommend this hotel for anyone staying in the immedidate area. Thank you

The staff at The Airman were exceptionally friendly and could not be more helpful. They went far beyond the call of duty when offering to help us with some transport difficulties we were experiencing. It's snowed overnight and the staff we up bright an early trying to clear the drive so visitors could get away after their stay. A huge thumbs up to the staff who really put the icing on our stay, thanks you so much. The rooms are basic, but comfortable with plenty of hot water and heating. We stayed in a family room, which we could not book online. We booked 2 rooms as the online booking system did not show a 4 person family room available. When we arrived we found we had 2 singles in our room as well as the double. The hotel immediately without quibble refunded the full amount for the extra room. A great value hotel with great access to the A1.

The location was the only good thing for us. I can only comment on room 28 which was not fit for habitation. Had we not been committed to meeting friends living nearby, we would have got, however back in the car and found somewhere else. The carpet was absolutely manky and that was highlighted as some furniture had been removed from the room. The bathroom was superficially clean but there were too many deep seated deficiencies to list: the bath mat was caked with a disgusting black crust. Needs a lot of work.

Cheapest hotel in Stevenage area the night we needed to stay. Comfortable room, easy parking, rural location, but only 20 minutes from Stevenage. Being located on a fairly busy roundabout, but most of the traffic noise was kept out by good double-glazing and there was little traffic except at morning rush-hour.

The staff are friendly , & the food up to a good std. It is also handy for a lot of other places near by, although the address of Meppershall is misleading , because in the dark the village is not that close to the hotel. In essence you have stay on the main road (a 507) My original internet booking seemed very good value for money , (About £50 / night) , however I found when having to include breakfast the rate for b&b had risen to £62.50 or thereabouts.....this was not obvious from the website, which I consider an unexpected turn of events to the dis- service of the hotel, & having stayed there in 2010 this had not happened then. I assume a change of management has taken place since my last stay , & has instituted this change of policy, which I was not pleased about.

The sheets were clean. The room was spacious and tidy. There was a shower over the bath, but no shower curtain. Mentioned to receptionist, but no action. The dining room was being redecorated so we had to have breakfast in the bar. Woken by breaking glass at 0420. Asked for a quiet room (in response to booking preferences option), but given a room overlooking the a600, a long straight fast road.

Location and staff were attentive although appeared to be overstretched. Not many staff who although were efficient, one had to wait at times as were covering both reception, the bar and serving food.

The hotel is clean, slightly tired looking in places and staff friendly. Local taxis have to be booked well in advance as they are quite spask in the area. This is something that we were not aware of on booking so this actually cut short our actual vist to friends who live 3 miles from the hotel.I Would suggest that if you need a taxi you ask for taxi numbers on booking in order to avoid this.Unfortunately the bar of the hotel was closed at 1030pm on a Saturday night on our return from our visit to friends.

The staff were friendly and helpful especially the lady who served us breakfast I would recommend firends and family to stay or as my family are quite local to drop in for the excellent breakfast and the good value for money it is. There was only one disappointment at the hotel that the decor in our room 38 had two holes in the wall it looked as though something had been removed but it really was not a problem perhaps they were waiting to re decorate at a later date.

Good location for us attending local wedding. Nice atmosphere but staff a little vague and not well trained in customer care. Room not cleaned and prepared on arrival at 3.00 pm. On return at 11.00pm tv not working and tea cups still not changed or cleaned.

The shower was good They had us booked for the wrong dates but fortunately did have a room. The room was in the roof space with a velox window which when opened let in half a dozen wasps. The room was very hot. The television was very difficult and took at least 10 minutes to get a service every-time it was switched on (twice). The carpet in the room was worn away next to the bed and was generally very stained. The room was very dusty and was a great disappointment. We would not stay at this hotel again.

Hotel staff were very welcoming, room was fine. Felt that the hotel could do with a bit of TLC. carpet in the room could have done with a shampoo. toilet had a small leak at base and TV remote's batteries needed replacing. These latter points were mentioned to the reception staff on leaving. We were only on an overnight stay. staff were very helpful and polite during our stay, and the food was good.

The location was the only good point as it was very close to where our son is posted. Firstly, we arrived at 8.20pm, couldn't find a member of staff to check in. Eventually someone appeared, when we enquired about evening meals she told us because they had been busy during the day they were stopping food at 8.30pm instead of 9pm. So we had to go in search of food after driving for 61/2 hours. First impressions of inside, in need of redecoration. On returning to hotel, needed to use the night door using code number, only to find this security door propped open, infact open on both nights. Bedroom and bathroom rather tired, in need of redecoration. A few cobwebs hanging around so not cleaned properly. The carpet was heavily stained and in need of replacing. Although the main sheets were clean they looked tired. But the valances on all 3 beds were grey with dirt and stained. Paint flaked away from window recess revealing bare plaster. I informed receptionist upon leaving of faults and told her £60 P.N. was over the top.
