I think we were lucky; we stayed mid-week, so there was no noise (I read all the bad reviews after booking!) Very good location (close to many of the colleges and opposite Emanual); friendly staff. Breakfast was quite nice (but not served until 8.30) Over-priced; shared bathroom facilities (not even a sink in the bedroom); late check-in (4pm - The day is almost over!) and early check- out (11am).

Location is ok The staff especially the manager is not helpful. The rooms are so far away to find, and very old. Shared toilet and showers remind me of dorms. The reception turns into a night club in the evning, heaters have got problems. There was a massive fight when I was staying and could not sleep at all.

Great location, friendly staffs, clean bathroom although shared bath room, good breakfast. Stairwell like a maze, Friday and Saturday night really noisey Because of club on ground floor. So my suggestion is will be better stay not on Friday or Saturday night.

central position to Cam,bridge TV not working, drawer unit broken and walk along corridor(s) to access toilet facilities...all in all...it was cheap enough but short on basic services such as TV in 21st century accommodation in an international city

The location Only one member of staff was friendly, others not so much and quite reluctant to be of any help at all or even make eye contact for that matter. The shared bathroom facilities were on another floor. The TV didn't work. On our last morning there and with a train to catch, the wait for breakfast was over half an hour and customers walking in off the street for breakfast were served before B&B guests. More backpacker suited accommodation than B&B.

was great to be in the heart of the city.difficultly getting a shower in the early morning as the B& B was fully booked.Staff at breakfast were a little slow, think we waited 20mins for our breakfast to arrive.would use it again for a night dont know if i would reccomend it as it had a very basic feel to it.We stayed on a friday night and the bar was heaving the music could be heard on the top floor and felt. Hallways were a bit of a laberinth and a vase of flowers on a table were well past their sell by date

It is not a b&b but a nightclub with some rooms on top. There is no reception, they made us paid before getting the room keys and the receipt was for a meal rather than a room. You access room through an intricate path of stairs. There is no bathroom in the room and you needed two sets of stairs to get to the shared bathroom. Worse of all, it is impossible to sleep until 4am in the morning, because of the extremely loud music and noise in the street. Staff is mainly young students just obeying orders from above. Other guests complained in the morning, asking for their money back but the manager was nowhere to be seen. Very frustrated, we had breakfast (Full English is included in the price but a croassant is not!) and we wanted to close the door because it was freezing cold. Staff replied that they could not do that "because of their policy".

Not very much. Breakfast was quite acceptable No en suite facilities (not made clear when booking). A warren of dingy stairs & corridors above a bar. Bathroom with toilet down 1 floor from my room, shower with toilet down 2 floors.

Excellent location for Cambridge University which was the purpose of the visit. Comfortable, clean accommodation. Good breakfast provided in the morning. Entrance to accommodation not inspiring looks wise, however actual rooms were nicely presented. There are no on suite bathroom facilities, however I knew this when I booked. It did mean I had to wait to get into the bathroom, but really it wasn't too much of a problem.

Super breakfast. Good value for the money. DIfficulty finding parking in the area, difficulty finding staff to assist you while the busy pub below was active. Shared bathrooms one floor below.

On arrival we couldn't check in until 4pm, even though this was stated, most b&b's try and accomodate an earlier check in, the staff's english was poor and all we got was your room is busy, this was at 2.30pm in the afternoon. The room did not have an ensuite and the bathroom was shared which was not stated on the booking, this came as a surprise. the cleanliness of the bathroom was not great and it was very old, tired and needed a massive improvement. The room was ok but smelt of stale smoke. The TV did not work. The room again was tired and in need of upgrading. The B & B was above a late night bar / disco which did not close until 4am in the morning, which isn;t advertised funnily enough, therefore we could not sleep until after it closed as it was far too noisy. This is disgusting in particular as we stayed in a family room. we were on a train out in the morning at 9.32 am going to a family funeral so not happy that we did not get more than 3 hours sleep. The breakfast looked good but was cold apart from the hash brown and sausage, it was slow service and we had to leave without finishing to catch our train. this was supposed to be a romantic break to a friend wedding for myself and my husband but ended up being a disaster because of the accomodation.

Location on a main street was convenient but the street was noisy at night. The free breakfast was satisfactory. At GBP78 for a very basic, noisy room with cheap furniture and no desk and with a shared washroom / lavatory down the shabby corridor, the room was grossly overpriced. The place needs a coat of paint, new carpets and furniture ( the single chair was stained ). For such basic accommodation, GBP35 would be more reasonable. I would never stay at The Castle again.
