    Location, friendliness of the staff,

Room decor looked a bit tired, bathroom could do with a facelift

Good old fashioned luxury, genuinely helpful staff and a brilliant location right in the centre. The carrot cake was to die for.

Managed to forget the step in the otherwise spacious bathroom but managed to save myself from a crash on the tiled floor. Perhaps some brighter mats to distinguish the floor levels would be useful for merry travellers...

    Good location and parking

After getting in after a long day I found the flush on the loo not working. Too late for an engineer or room change. Also a charge for room service seemed pure greed.

The overall ambience, the lovely building, interior decor, friendly staff, easy parking, good choice at breakfast, short walk to shops pubs and restaurants.

Smell of stale cigarettes in my single bedroom . Didn't think smoking was allowed in hotel bedrooms nowadays in the UK?

The staff, both in the hotel and restaurant, could not have been more friendly and helpful. The receptionist moved me to another (better) room when I complained about some noisy teenagers nearby. The décor is old fashioned comfort with real keys, not ghastly plastic. The breakfast had plenty of choice, nice bread, cereals, fresh fruit and was the best I've had outside Germany (where it's almost the main meal).

My main grouse was being charged £5 for one night's car parking, especially having had both meals in the hotel (one of which, if I were not staying, would have entitled me to free parking!). An irritating and unexpected extra. Air conditioning on a hot summer night would have been nice, but there was a good fan.

    Beautiful building lovely town

Hottest day of the year and heated towel rail to hot to touch heated whole room, long hairs in bath. Took two days to mend the towel rail other rooms had fans, a very incompetent reception staff ..I would recommend the travel lodge over this place

Location is fantastic, right in the middle of town

The room was roasting hot due to the outside temperature ( and understandably no air con)

Huge room with excellent bath and view of the Norman Gardens. Very friendly and dog friendly staff. Right in the centre of Taunton and ten minuted walk from the county cricket ground.

Not cheap, rightly so, but neither breakfast nor parking were included.

The great proximity to everything in Taunton...

Had a much larger room when we stayed there a year ago. The room this year was more modern but half the size.

    Excellent location to town

Staffing levels poor and response rates at bar and room service poor. Noise levels at night very bad from local pubs and a very early morning call at 6.30 am from rubbish collection company collecting empty bottles.

the facilities were excellent. we were given a free upgrade and the staff very friendly and approachable.

unfortunately there was a flood of water onto our floor, resulting from a blocked storm water drain. the staff were most apologetic. We were not aware that one of the restaurants had a michelin star and consequently we could not book in at short notice. i guess if the literature had this information available we could have booked earlier.

We stayed here because it was within walking distance of the cricket ground and we came for a Rod Stewart concert. Comfortable beds, lovely shower.

We had a dreadful night's sleep - we were kept awake until after -am by people at the adjacent pub, so shut the windows. At 4am it was unbearably hot snd stuffy so we had to open the windows - then from 4.30am onwards got a succession of delivery vehicles, bottle bank emptying lorries, dustbin lorries (three!!!), seagulls and a van delivering newspapers. We also gog noise from the bus station close by. When I complained I was told they normally have fans in the room when it was hot - but none were in our room. Very expensive for the quality of sleep - next time I'll go to a Premier Inn! Also the 'large' fish and chips in the bar is over £12.00 - but the fish really isn't large at all - so you are paying a lot for s larger portion of chips.

Pittoresque "english" hotel. Room featured coffee, tea and cookies-replenished daily- iron and ironing board.

Front desk staff unfriendly, self-centered. BRAZZ restaurant: un-attentive staff, food service slow and of low quality. Lacking maintenance in bathroom. Lacking maintenance of elevator
