Perhaps the view.
The room did not have any storage. At 5' 3" the hanger for clothes was too high. Bits of wood at side of bed for tables not acceptable. Everything slid off bathroom shelf. No cereals other than museli for breakfast. The lighting was very poor.
Noise from the bar- did not quieten down till after 1 am- hotel situated on a busy road/ roundabout; very early morning traffic
The rooms are large and comfortable, with fabulous showers! The pub downstairs has a very nice atmosphere and the food was excellent, both dinner and breakfast the next morning. The staff are pleasant, helpful and generally delightful.
There isn't a lot of parking, though we did manage to squeeze our two cars in.
Staff great. Excellent restaurant.
Would have liked more light in the room.
Every member of staff had great customer service and made our stay very enjoyable.
The ONLY negative point is that it is very close to the main road in and out of the town which does get busy in the morning.
The room was excellent, modern design and very comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
There is limited parking, but we were very lucky and got a space. The lady who booked us in said they could help us if we had difficulty.
Great food -- breakfast, lunch or dinner -- and attentive staff! While the property was older, updated bathrooms and up-to-date bedding made it delightful. Value of both food and room is appealing! I'd book again in a heartbeat.
Some slight road noise is detectable, but does not detract from sleep. Parking is not ample, but the staff ensures that hotel guests can park on site.
Nothing was too much trouble. The room was exactly as expected. We received hotel service from a very busy pub, which was obviously, well supported and very popular with the locals
Friendly staff, lovely views from our window and delicious food reasonably priced.
Good room design, very spacious (room 3), friendly staff and great menu in the bar and restaurant. Fairly easy to find, lots of information on the town available. Wonderful village to visit.
Its on top of a hill so is a steep climb from the centre of town. Pub beneath can be noisy.
Great staff, especially manager Tori - just the right balance of care and interest in my stay. Lovely room and pub décor - great individuality. Very comfortable bed, lovely bathroom, and gorgeous breakfast. Would stay again.
I heard one guest at breakfast saying she did not sleep due to fan blowing outside window all night - glad that was not my room, but cannot say if that had been my room whether it would have affected me or not.
Decor Rooms Friendly staff
loved the variety off the menu for all three meals that i ate there
very limited parking but staff very good and moved their car for me
All the little things that the hotel offered. The cake treats in the room and the lovely toiletries. They seem to have thought of everything. Even having lose leaf tea was a nice touch. The pub was full of character and the food was excellent. I especially enjoyed the tapas style starters and could've quite easily tried the entire menu!
That we weren't staying longer!
We were staying here whilst exploring Bath, and loved it. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, and the rooms are fantastic. Very well appointed bathroom with huge roll top bath. Beatifully scenic train ride in to Bath
Only slight downside is that it's at the top of quite a steep hill but if you're driving that's no problem
friendliness of staff . Quality and value of food.
car park is too small and can get crowded although staff will arrange to move cars to make room for guests.
Very warm personal welcome Really comfortable room - they've thought of everything Very nice toiletries and lovely big bath towels Fantastic view from the bath - room 4 Great breakfast
Nothing - though this is obviously a very popular pub and restaurant (packed even on Monday) and those liking an early night might be disturbed. But no problem for us!
Good Food Nice atmosphere Old feature rooms Lovely Bathrooms
Parking was scarce and tight
Slightly overpriced for facilities offered
Spacious room with large comfortable bed. Lovely toiletries in the bathroom, excellent tea & coffee and sweet treats in the room (as well as an eclectic selection of books!). Good breakfast. A short walk into town - though uphill on the way back!
Beds sumptuos, food superb, great choice of beers and wine
Quite a busy road nearby
Everything. Room was fabulous, clean and very comfortable, staff welcoming and friendly without being over the top, meals in restuarant great value for money.
The staff were absolutely fantastic!! so helpful and friendly. The rooms are lovely. The food fanatastic. Breakfast served until 12.00.......wow!! Wonderful place. We will be back.
Comfortable room Nice bathroom (quirky) Evening meal
Poor selection of Real Ales (all 'Summer' ales and not that good either) Hit and miss breakfast
We liked how friendly, helpful and polite the young staff were. The food, both breakfast and evening meal, were of excellent quality using local produce. The rooms were extremely luxurious with wonderful bathrooms and a comfortable bed.
