Fabulous stay. Great hosts. Lots of history and beautiful surroundings.
All but one tiny thing...
No plain yoghurt at breakfast (hardly a massive issue though)
We booked the honeymoon suite here for our wedding night. On booking through the site I queried whether a late check in would be okay....I Received no reply. I then had several phone calls with various staff members to agree our late check in time....we were locked out on our wedding night after hammering door and calling several times. My answerphone message left at 1am was not even followed up the next day...I Had to call them where I appeared to be greeted with "oh...we are very sorry" not good enough!!
When entering the Inn, the décor was a mix of old and new but in keeping with the building. The bar area was very spacious and the restaurant was very pleasant. We had bedroom no 2. which was very beautifully decorated with super shot silk curtains and a sumptuous bed with lots of pretty cushions. The furniture was an eclectic mix of old antique and chabby chic which I would love to have in my house. The bath is a stand alone unit in the corner of the room and there were lovely "White Company" toiletries to use. Overall we had a very enjoyable stay with good food, lovely surroundings and staff and would not hesitate to recommend this small but stylish Inn to other people.
very pleasant stay, food and facilities good, staff polite would like to go there again.
Friendly, modern, good food in bistro
On main road so fast traffic shooting past in the early hours. No proper cell phone reception, and in house wifi didn't work.
Lovely room, very clean and comfortable
Chose lamb for my evening meal but it was very tough, left most of it. Did ad use waitress of this
Excellent service, staff very friendly, breakfasts were delicious, restaurant served excellent food, room was well equipped and comfortable.
Spotlights illuminating frontage of hotel were covered in spiders and their webs and could do with a good clean!
Welcome Quality of furnishings in bedroom and the style. Food and ambience in the bar
Bath in the bedroom, and only a hand held shower
I booked the honeyroom suite for 130 a night but did not get much sleep as there is a fire alarm in the room that glows green all night you do not see it in the day but at night it lights up the room so bewarned..
The staff made us feel very welcome. A very nice large room, and A comfortable bed. Also a excellent evening meal. and a very tasty breakfast.
The staff were extremely helpful, the room was comfortable and the food was excellent.
Very difficult to get wifi in the bedrooms.
The building has been lovingly restored by the owner and offers excellent food an ale. An excellent place for an evening away or indeed a wedding. Thanks for a great stay
Warm welcome and staff who were very willing to help at any time. Excellent food. Very clean and well decorated throughout. Two chairs in the bedroom. All needs were catered for.
Lighting not as bright as we would like but this was due to the tweed lampshades - a small point which is relevant when you're getting older.
Room was lovely. Nice touches throughout. Good food. We stayed In room 3.
Beautifully comfortable inn. Nothing was too much trouble for staff, food was delicious and a very comfortable bar area.
Location Furnishings Bathroom!
Breakfast wasn't served until 8.30 am No wifi!
The room was excellent and the bar and dining facilities were also excellent. The lune valley and trough of bowl and are well worth a visit with breathtaking views.
No fresh fish available on the night we stayed,
Character of the premises and the layout. The food was excellent and the service was great, we would book again without a doubt. Good value for money and all friendly.
decoration of rooms, service, quality of food.
difficulty with door lock
Old but modern place , we felt like they wanted to do as much as they could for us , lovely clean room , bright & airy had everything we could possibly want , lovely breakfast & the next morning we couldn't get a taxi to pick up our car from the next village & the landlord offered and took us to collect it . Service over & beyond would definatley go back again & recommend
Nothing to dislike
Wonderfully comfortable bed. Very friendly, helpful staff and the food was pretty good as well!
Staff were amazing, food and drink both reasonably prices, beautiful room and just a thoroughly enjoyable stay!
Can't pick a fault only that we weren't staying longer.
Bar and restaurant area was good and food was overall adequate.
Room was billed as a 'suite' but in fact was just one room with a bath in it and a tiny cupboard with a wc. The shelf above the sink sloped and couldn't be used. There was a single mattress clearly visible stored underneath the bed (?).The illuminated fire exit sign was in the room, not on the landing so we had a bright green light on all night. Sound from the bar downstairs kept us awake as did church bells. No hand towels, no facecloths, (no bathrobes which at £130 per night could be expected)no decaffeinated coffee, no sweeteners, alarm clock didn't work (battery dead and had been for some time by the look of it) - tv and bath presumably imported from Lilliput as both were too small to be of use.
