Location Friendly & helpfull staff Clean tidy& spacious room Very good shower Good food Good selection at breakfast
No hair dryer Menu limited for evening meal but what was on menu was excellent
Staff couldn't have been more helpful and when we arrived short of time for a local wedding the chef drove us to the wedding and even offered to pick us up. Fab place :)
Nothing to report
Fresly appointed rooms to high standard and the food was truely excellent. Great service.
The room was lovely with plenty of space and a comfortable bed. The food was excellent and there was a good choice on the menu, which we made the most of by eating at the restraint every night. The staff were very accommodating and created a really pleasant atmosphere. We would certainly stay there again.
Bathroom was a bit on the small side.
The evening meals were excellent, they're trying very hard to please and succeeding! The rooms were very recently refurbished and spotless. The breakfast is very good also and the service throughout our 2 night stay was excellent.
Nothing to dislike
The fillet steak was the best I have ever had anywhere in 50 years of being a steak fanatic. Brilliant! Room small but comfortable
Given there is no mobile phone signal in the village they should provide WiFi that works - this will stop me staying there ever again as I need to be in touch. Shame! Whoever designed the nicely appointed bathroom seemed to have forgotten that you may need to get your head over the washbasin to brush teeth and the kettle under the tap to fill it. Shame!
One of the best steaks I have had anywhere in this country. Cooked to perfection, melted in the mouth.
Wigmore is a small village, so we were pleasantly surprised when we entered the Castle. Whilst it still had a welcoming, small public bar, popular with locals, the lounge bar and restaurant were very smart and comfortable. Our room was not over-large, but perfectly adequate with a modern en-suite bathroom. Although bar meals are available, we ate in the restaurant and the food was really excellent. They had a choice of real ales on tap and a good selection of wine. Service was prompt, friendly and attentive. We very much enjoyed our stay and would recommend The Castle.
It seems churlish to make an adverse comment when the owners and staff clearly work hard to provide a welcoming environment, but we did find the washbasin in our bathroom to be on the small side.
Friendly welcome, help with luggage. Excellent dinner freshly cooked. , first class breakfast also freshly cooked.
Everything but the small wash basin. Other than this, faultless.
Very friendly and attentive staff. Room very clean. Food excellent.
There wasn't a hairdryer in the room.
Friendly staff, good food and a nice village.
Woke up in the morning by noise from the room above not very well sound proofed.
Welcoming and friendly.
Recently refurbished so everything is still new and shiny. Very clean. Friendly efficient staff. Comfortable bed.
The room. The garden - although as there was a children's party on when I arrived it was late evening before it was available.
Each time I had cause to go to the reception/ bar I had to wait a very long time. I don't mind that when the place is busy, but standing waiting when there is no one about and no way of calling for service other than shouting is not acceptable. The site promotes the dining room. I arrived on a Sunday to be told that the only food available was the remains of the Sunday roast prepared for lunch. Not thrilled with such a suggestion I said I would in that case drive out to eat. I was told there was nowhere that would be open on a Sunday. I don't know how truthful that was. When the meal was served the meat was dried up as was the gravy; the veg had been warmed up and the roast potatoes which had obviously been very well cooked originally and looked delicious were in fact just inedible.. I think that I was offered a choice of dessert, but having had so little to eat I asked for cheese and biscuits which was served with apple and celery - I got the feeling that both were bits salvaged from not so fresh left overs. I was furious the next day to be charged £13.99 for this travesty of a dinner. The proprietor must have known the state of the meal that was to be served to me. I was the only guest that evening and she was not available to speak to on the evening nor on the morning when I checked out. I complained about the meal and the member of staff offered to ring the owner to tell her of my complaint, but I really had not enough time to hang around whilst this was accomplished, especially as I had waited for 10 minutes to be served and a silmilar amount of time to pay - there being no bell to request asistance. There was no hair dryer in the room. I thought that although the room was pleasant and comfortable it was all seriously over-priced compared with the other accommodation I have enjoyed this year.
Staff very friendly and obliging. Room was small but adequate and comfortable with the usual facilities. The television was an excellent 32 in flat screen. The food was very good but both it and the drinks were very expensive.
The wash basin in the en-suite was too small to be used for face washing as the faucet protrudes over the basin and renders it unusable for face washing, a consequence of restricted room space.
Ambience, pleasant garden to soak up the sun with a late afternoon drink, and great food for a BnB
Unfortunately noise from room above wakes u up!
Very pleasant and attentive staff. We had booked into the restaurant for an evening meal. One of the members of our party was undergoing treatment and we were made to feel very special during our stay. We will be returning ....
I could only fault there was no hairdrier in one of the rooms and the mirror was possibly in the wrong position to apply my makeup. This did not spoil our stay. We will be returning....
Clean and very friendly. A very pleasant, relaxed atmosphere.
Our twin bedded room was a shade small but this was our choice; a double room no doubt would have been larger.
The room was too hot, it could have done with a fan in the room
Staff were very friendly, natural and helpful
The bed was very comfortable and the room was absolutely spotless. Breakfast was amazing, we had to wait quite a while for it but it was worth the wait.
We arrived on Sunday evening and the restaurant is not open on a Sunday and as we had travelled so far, we were too tired to go out to find somewhere to eat.
Staff and service; Relaxing venue; Quiet
The location! The restaurant was excellent.the area was stunning.
The room was a bit small with no view from the window
