Score from 549 reviews Very good
Excellent food, lovely old farm building, plenty of character. Very good staff.
Room was a bit dated (but clean)
Quaintness of bar area - many alcoves and open fires, beamed ceilings, good food, good gardens. Comfortable bed.
Very little room around the bed to swing a cat, water pressure low but sufficient. We did mention that we were eating on checking in but not advised to book a table, then had to wait 40minutes for a table.
Friendly staff , good food and value for money
The staff are real friendly and very helpful
Quiet location, friendly staff, good meals in the bar.
Beer a bit over priced.
Not far from the town centre, in a nice quiet location. A lovely pub and restaurant attached to the hotel. Excellent value for a lovely room with a large en-suite. And very friendly staff.
The rooms are comfortable - country pub style with basic facilities. We had free wifi in our room but were unable to take advantage of it because we weren't there for long enough. View with fields and horses, and the castle from some rooms. Only had breakfast so not able to comment on other meals but it is a popular venue for eating.
Nothing really. Will stay again.
Decent size bathroom.Nice Fire burning in bar area.Function room nice size.Meals good.
Bedroom in need of a makeover.Bed too soft and middle of bed sagged.Reception area A poor advert for hotel, tucked away near kitchen.Fruit at breakfast was not fresh. As well as bedroom, corridors to bedrooms were tatty.
Locality was great for visiting friends and family, the staff were very friendly and helpful
The bed had seen better days
Good reception, very clean room, Good shower, good breakfast.
Bed was too short and not very comfortable. The shelf over the wash basin was falling off so not good to put things on. The mirror over the basin was very low so had to crouch down to use it. Aircon units outside window droned off and on all night.
good food will book again.
all ok no problems
We were a party of 21, our meals were superb, staff were excellent, and even though the staff were extremely busy that night with other guests to tend too, the service we received was fantastic. The ambience was lovely too, and my partner and I are looking forward to booking our wedding there also.
Amazingly super staff. Great cooked breakfast. Cold buffet included toast your own crumpets/pikelets! Very close to the M1 (5 min) and yet you are in a pretty village, complete with castle!
Breakfast service excellent All food great
Room was not serviced on one of the days. Towels were brought up , but over an hour later and no milk jiggers so couldn't have a drink. Disappointing when the rest of my stay was good. I was there 4 nights
The Staff at this hotel were all excellent and for that alone, I would not hesitate to go back.
The bed was too soft.
Very friendly and willing staff. Comfortable room. Superb food. Would really recommend this hotel.
A friendly welcome awaited us at the Hotel. Great advice on local transport for places we wanted to visit. The bar & restaurant within the hotel is warm, cosy and very inviting. A great stay and we would stay again.
Everything met my needs Breakfast very good
Toaster needs to have some notes on how to use. My toast caught fire !
The staff were very leasent and helpful. The surrounding were nice too
After switching rooms the bed was still very uncomfortable, it was far too soft and felt like it was not much than a couple of inches thick and worn. The condensation on the rotten window frames was bad. The toilet was wobberley and there was a big crack in the sink. To say the least we were very disapointed with our stay.
the welcome, the buiding, the open fires, the bedrooms, the friendliness of the staff.
Although the tables were booked up when we arrived, we were found a table for our evening meal after they realised we had had a long trip down. Loved the old castle and moat behind the hotel. Great breakfast. Lovely staff.
2 glasses of wine and 2 beers £23!! The furniture was dark an shabby, Annie Sloane needed. Stayed two nights didn't sleep... rolled into the middle. Poor shower. Hot tap needs thermostat control. Had to do makeup in bathroom no light by dressing table. Two lights out in the room. One was sorted prompt.( n.o 50 )
Food, staff, location
Far too soft bed, not enough tea/coffee etc provided in room.
The location for the reason we were in Leicestershire.
Bed not very comfy. No bedside table. Although I did request one of the supposed lager rooms and bed.
Comfortable beds, friendly staff, resaonably priced food and drink, lovely rural location near J21a of M1.
Location, lovely village and Castle behind hotel.
