Score from 9 reviews Very good
A country hotel and restaurant set in the beautiful Towy Valley and Brecon Beacons National Park, surrounded by castles, country houses and the National Botanical Garden of Wales.
Score from 94 reviews Superb

The food was excellent.
Would have liked a bigger bed.
Cosy comfortable old world atmosphere and excellent variety of delicious food especially breakfast. Rooms and facilities met all expectations and the staff were very friendly, helpful and non-intrusive.
Superb value, friendly and curtious staff. A lovely location.
Bedroom a little warm.
A convenient central location for our stay - just a short walk from the railway station. From our very first greeting the staff were attentive and pleasant - and we will certainly use the Castle Hotel when next in the area.
Nothing springs to mind - it's an elderly building and so creaky staircases don't match up to 'Premier Inn' standards - but we were warm, comfortable and made most welcome throughout our stay.
Spacious rooms.Well appointed.Great breakfast selection.Excellent location.
Nothing! One of the more value for money establishments we have stayed at.
Very friendly welcome and service throughout our visit. Enjoyed the breakfast and a good evening meal.First visit to Llandovery but didn't have much time to explore a fascinating area.
The bed was rather cramped and the 'sprung' mattress could have done with a mattress topper, to improve its comfort. The access to the hotel from the car park was difficult to find with our luggage in tow, and then to get it up stairs proved heavy.
Good location, comfortable beds, very clean room. Staff welcoming and friendly. Enjoyed a full welsh breakfast. I would stay again but In a different room. I was visiting with my mother and we stayed in a twin room that was adequate in size.
Room 17 uncomfortably hot had to leave the window open all night to cool the room. Blind missing from the bathroom window. I found it difficult to sleep due to the noise of a fan out side ( possibly situated in the kitchen).
We loved our stay in llandovery. Hotel was perfectly positioned, stag warm and friendly and a wonderful restaurant. Highly recommended.
Everything was excellent
Tiny bedroom with what looked like a retro-fit plastic bathroom from a 1970's cruise ship. Poor shower, couldn't fit in bathroom properly to dry. Good but very noisy cleaners first thing Sunday morning.
Staff very helpful had a lovely time many thanks to the castle hotel...
The room was very clean and had everything you need for an overnight stay.
Whilst the quality of food in the restaurant was very good, the level of service was slow. We waited 35 mins before our order was taken.
There really is very little to criticise. The location is perfect for days out and the building has so much character which is balanced by mod cons. The staff were fab, the food was fab, the room was fab, everything was fab except...
We were in Room 5 which is spacious, well decorated, clean, lovely but it's also very hot and immediately above the flag pole - with a strong wind, it made a horrendous noise all through the night. Not enough to put us off going again though!
Location, new revamp of rooms
Food and service abysmal. Pork dish was luke warm and reheating had no effect. Table not cleared, staff seemed to have an off-night. We are unlikely to return.
24 hours front desk check in
i woke up by other guests in the corridor in the morning. the staffs were busy to help other guests to check out, so there was no one serving breakfast
Oldey, cozy atmosphere and nice staff Decent beer. Comfy mattress. Tidy bathroom and local sourced toiletries,
Roasting bedroom( I was on fire above the kitchen area) fans outside were hot, noisy and smelly so had to keep window closed
Very helpful and smiley staff. Very clean and fresh rooms. Lovely food, especially the superb breakfast. Good beer. Location and parking. Excellent as base for motorcycle touring in the area. More than happy to recommend The Castle to others and will definitely stay there again.
Helpful staff, food good and room service is available, wifi speed good
Was a bit noisy, but all quiet by eleven so wasn't a real problem and as it has a bar I am unsure what could be done about it
location, welcome on arrival, breakfast staff bed very comfortable with excellent night's sleep honesty of hotel eg, in house brochure - "a premier inn we are not" accommodating on check in time as room was ready
we had deluxe double room which was "ok" rather than deluxe in our opinion shower over bath was low power toilet seat which didn't stay up :)
The rarebit for breakfast was excellent, room comfortable and clean and the price very fair. Couldn't ask for more
A hotel with character and a cosy bar area. The staff were genuinely friendly and couldn't have been more helpful. The food and especially breakfast was excellent
Our bathroom was a little cramped.
The old building was lovely and the big room was nicely furnished. The location is a plus. Very good food at the restaurant.
My son's extra bed was terrible, I would expected something more from a 4-star Hotel.
staff & food was very good.Enjoyed our stay will return
Reasonable comfort Helpful with breakfast
A week before due to arrive where informed that they didn't have our booking although confirmation from booking .com they had double booked and convientiently couldn't find the booking which after making the call to hotel and then confirming with booking they managed to fit us in poor would not recommend this hotel
