The location of the castle tavern was excellent for us. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was really good and hearty with a good selection. Natalie behind the bar was always smiling and made conversation with everyone. We had the family room which consisted of two rooms and a bathroom. These rooms were really cold as the radiators were not working. We had to ask about the heating then they put a portable heater in the room. The evening meal was not great, a few of us had steak, which was cold and was not helped with it being served on cold plates. As our room was above the pub, it was noisy but when the pub closed we all soon got off to sleep.

Was advertised as dog friendly so we took our dog! The staff couldn't have been nicer. You didn't have to walk throught the pub once you'd checked in if you didn't want to. The location was perfect, right on the market square. The room was pretty with a nice view. Breakfast was super. I can't think of anything we didn't like. Just a note to those with dogs - On the Saturday evening they stopped serving dinner at 7pm as they had live music which meant we had to find somewhere else to eat, which was a bit of a problem as we had a dog. We ended up eating at 'The Turf Hotel' which was nice.

Very nice location, staff extremely friendly, had a lovely couple of nights in the pub itself. We were there when there was live music on (every other Saturday). It was loud but we were made aware of it before we went and it didn't bother us. Bathroom floor could have done with a wash and there was rubbish in the fireplace in the bathroom which I assume was left from the previous guests.
