The ivy-covered Scotch Corner Hotel is ideally located at the A1/A66 junction in close proximity to Darlington and Catterick. Newcastle, York, Leeds and Middlesbrough are just a short drive away.
Score from 344 reviews Excellent
Overlooking Richmond's cobbled market square, and the Norman castle, this charming Georgian hotel full of character and warmth is only 4 miles (6.4 km) from the A1.
Score from 210 reviews Very good
The Wheatsheaf Hotel is set in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales National Park. The restaurant serves dishes made using local recipes and produce, and the bar serves real ales.
Score from 172 reviews Very good
In the heart of the historic market town of Barnard Castle, The Three Horseshoes Hotel is a 17th century building less than a mile from the River Tees.
Score from 132 reviews Wonderful
Great place, friendly staff. Good pub downstairs. As a town, Richmond is lovely...certainly one of the most scenic towns I've visited.
Spacious pleasantly decorated room with window looking out on to the market place. Staff very friendly and helpful. We knew it was a shared bathroom but for the price and central location we felt it was worth it.
Bedside lamps only worked occasionally and new bulbs did not fix the problem. We decided it was too late at night to sort out. I could only get the Cloud WiFi and had to go downstairs to connect.
Rooms were clean and spacious.
Poor greeting and breakfast.
It close proximity to Carrick barracks .for my son's pass off parade
Breakfast wasn't the greatest they seem very confused at what we had ordered the previous evening .
The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. The room was basic but clean and perfect for our needs. The hotel is ideally located with shops, pubs, restaurants all close by.
We couldn't get wifi in our room. Parking is a little awkward.
The location and the helpfulness of the manager
The location for the castle and other local attractions was perfect
Never have I paid so much to feel so in the way and unwelcome. Whatever the personal circumstances of the staff, service with a smile goes a long way. Rooms looked nice but furniture cheap and rickety. Couldn't wait to leave.
Bathroom was down a flight of steps and it was never clear if it was shared. The door to the room miade a loud noise from the door closer - very annoying at night
All staff were helpful
Being in the centre
Friendly staff, great location, nice food, clean rooms.
Wi - Fi out of range in our room
Friendly staff,very helpfull
Very noisey from juke box below, went on till very late every night, usually till 11.30 ish ok for younger people but not for senior citizens In 70s
In all the stay was extremely pleasant my room was well presented and clean.the staff were very friendly and attentive. Have no problem with recommending the hotel and would definitely use again if needed.
Breakfast cooked to order Location - town centre Bar below seperate entrance if require Free parking
Bit pricy for what it was
The locality was very good The breakfast was good The staff friendly and helpful
Good central location in historic building Reasonable basic pub food and good real ale Comfortable clean beds Fair price during Toure de France
Grumpy and eccentric service at times. We had 2 linked double rooms but had to go through each others rooms to go outside or to toilet/shower. No long stay parking during day
Comfortable bed. Good breakfast. Excellent position in the town.
This is very much a pub with rooms rather than a hotel. The room really needed some loving care. The windows wouldn't stay open without a wedge. Some doors needed oiling to prevent squeaking. There was no useful shelf in the bathroom. One of the light fittings was dangling on its wire. There was noise from the bar and one night a band was playing so loudly the room was shaking. I thought it expensive for what was on offer.
Olde world pub. Basic but comfortable.
Proximity to the centre of town
There was no designated parking associated with the hotel but the parking system (2 hours at a time in the daytime in the market square) was manageable
Flexibility to tailor breakfast order around traditional cooked options. Comfortable bed and quiet room.
WiFi signal was weak in the room. Shower was very basic.
Room wasn't thoroughly serviced on a couple of days.
Great Breakfast, friendly Staff, Value for money.
Very relaxed and friendly atmosphere, room had a great view of the Market place and the castle.
To park a car you had to take pot luck in the square - very hard. Richmond is very hard to get around to find a parking spot as the streets are so narrow!
